Worked like a charm. Thanks. My problem is that I was trying to find the RemoteAddrValue in the main context.xml, also there are two places for webapps context.xml, one in host-manager and the other in manager. Thanks again.
Which version of Tomcat are you using? What's your OS/environment? I had a horrible time trying to access it with older versions. This process with Tomcat 10 has always worked for me. Maybe we can troubleshoot?
for other idiots (like me...) don't accidentally delete the that must be at the end after you add the new login credentials! What an idiot I feel after spending an entire morning fixing this....
Which part was that? Honestly, a lot of people are having a hard time setting this up, and I know this video doesn't fix everyone's issue. What was the part that wasn't clear?
@@cameronmcnz whole video was spot on 👌 I just deleted the at the end of the xml file when I was inputting the credentials without realising. This then meant that none of the new credentials we added were recognised until I went back into the xml and put back in! Oh the amount of times I’ve got stuck on stupid things like this…. What a great video however 🌟
works wonders thank you! would you be able to explain why does it have to go under opt directory. New to linux
I'd need someone to explain that tome!

Excellent Perfect..
You have no idea how much time I spent trying to figure this out. Makes me happy to know I may have saved some people the frustration I went through.
I am on tomcat 9 and this did not work. should I just update to 10?
Very good, thank you 🤜🤛

@@michaelgreatorex2340 Oh, that's painful. I've done much worse in my time, as has every developer, so I feel your pain. Glad the video helped!
@@cameronmcnz thanks for the assurance!! 😁😁
thank you
I had the same issue, but according to my Tomcat setup, the tomcat-users.xml was under /etc/tomcat9/ not opt/....
Imma go in and double check myself. Thanks for the insights! Hopefully that'll help someone else!
thanks...!!
