Melaman is a showman, not a show off. That's always been his style if every video and he's a monster musician. You can't win. If you play sub par, you're crucified. If you play above what people feel is right for them, you're crucified. What if this was Jaco with Hadrien, would you crucify him for too many notes or Pavarotti for singing too loud? No one's every happy just to listen to the MUSIC !!!
WTF kind of moron would EVER complain about Federico’s playing? What could one possibly find in it to criticise? Whoever those morons are, just, don’t know incredibly awesome music when they hear it.
too many armchair warriors posting...these guys are literally representing the outer limits of where our instrument has come and are just slaying...be happy and in awe that these guys took the time you didn't to become this badass and forge our instrument ahead into the future.
Unfortunately that's just what happens in the world of western music, and what has always happened. There are a select few people that dedicate their lives -- tens of thousands of hours to music because their very souls are intertwined with music, and they milk that love and often they become great musicians. Then you have the majority of musicians who use their musicianship primarily as means to an end: to distinguish themselves, to compete, to gain respect and followers. I'm not even saying there's anything wrong with this at all, because everyone has something unique to say and at the end of the day we're all lonely creatures. But it's just sad when people of this type completely fail to actualize their goals and then feel the need to project their insecurities on the people who have done everything right by just doing what they love.
Edith Gaard well said, I'm going to add that sometimes you get the musician(like myself) that dedicates his life to music but just don't get the proper opportunities to do anything with it, me for instance, I've lost every job I've ever had, if I'm not working, I'm playing, I play everyday at least 5 hours and when I'm not physically playing, I'm reading tabs, watching videos absorbing every last thing I learn, but considering I don't drive, so I can't gig out, I'm unemployed with kids so every dollar I do get supports them,so I can buy recording equipment, anything better than a cell phone you ever attempt to record bass on a phone? Not good
Nope, you lot are chatting shit..... Frederico is a terrible player that you will only ever see non bass players calling good. This is a terrible terrible piece of garbage and you pretentious noobs need to get your heads out of his ass and learn what real music is.
@@dsperanza79 this is literally some guitar doing jazz chords on a bass and some pretentious twat attempting to jam over it.... this is not listenable.... this is attempting to show off, when the players have 0 chemistry... the poor thing is they probably tried rehearsing this.
Good grief! Why are some of you so critical of this performance? It's not a competition. It's music. It's beautiful playing. It's too master players having fun and creating art. They dig each other's playing. Who cares how many strings a bass has or whether they have similar tones? Listen to the MUSIC. Enjoy it. That's what it's meant for. Enjoyment.
Beautiful interplay. it's so hard to make really rhythmic decisions with two bass instruments and keep it grooving and funky since they are in the same EQ space, but damn if this isn't the finest bass solo duet groove I have ever damn seen Great great great playing magnifico Malaman and Feraud!
When I was younger this would be unheard of, two basses playing together no lead guitar, the bass is defiantly reaching maturity ,like I said when I was a kid bass was just a rhythm instrument, I remember a friend of mine from school who played guitar, used to make fun of me saying how easy it is to play one or two notes a whole song, god I love the bass guitar, some nice chops going on here also if I must say
What we need now is for Or and Gregor to join these two for a 4 man jam....imaginr how epic that could be, Or could the main rhythm, with his slapping, then Gregor can be the main bassline, then these two in this vid can form the melody...
And I was just starting to think "Wow, I'm pretty good at playing bass" then I see this video. This is Unbelievable! and Federico's bass is the nicest Ken Smith I've ever seen.
Despite some people think that Federico is trying to show off, in my opinion Hadrien is still on a higher level in terms of clean sound and technique. It will be very difficult to reach this guy. But Federico is a very good bassist indeed.
@6:30 lol It's like a reverse of that one time Miles glared at Herbie for playing gibberish. "Oh you want me to hear a scale out over that? Um, nah I'll be fine."
This is awesome, but what threw me off was that it wasn't clear who was laying down the bass and who was soloing on top of that. Their basses sound fairly similar, they're playing at the same volume, etc. That being said, I believe that Frederico totally stole this performance.
Dude of course fereico has more to say then what the other guy laid down for him, i guess he wss trying to contain the beast within with some smooth jazz but federico always spices it up, i think tje other guy should have adjusted to him rather than keep going but still really nice anyways,

It really depends how you look at this. Hadrien accompanied better than Frederico. Frederico had more room to play because of Hadrien's accompaniment while Frederico's was pretty heavy. I totally agree about the tone thing because the only diversity in their playing is their chordal playing. Frederico had a little more bass than Hadrien. We can go on about this going both ways, but the bottom line is they both sound great and it's a pretty great rendition. One person couldn't exist without the other in this performance so yeah. Just saying.

Really, is like Hadrien knew at all times what Federico was going to play. The harmonic as 2:05 blew me away. He really listens.
Striking how much more musical Hadrien is getting with time. His choices are getting more refined and phrases more elegant. Brillliant.
Loved those guys in the back. The playing was wicked too!

Federico freaking outstanding with his melodic concepts. Seamlessly juxtaposing chops with melodic context
Marvelous combination of styles. Best electric bass duet to date!
This, boys and girls, is what we call "the real deal". You, and I for that matter, wish you could play half as good.
This is amazing! Loved Or's and Gregor's dancing too ;)

Great great great playing magnifico Malaman and Feraud!
At 2:40, Or Lubianiker casually dancing in the background with... Gregor?
Absolutely jaw dropping!
Did ANYBODY notice Or Lubianiker walking through at 2:40?! That was not a random guy XD
5:00 as well ..
Yeah. He was video-bombing in a unique way!
And Gregor was with him haha
I think I'd enjoy owning Frederico's bass, what a sound!! Looks very playable and balanced also.
Cats!!
This performance earned a Like + a Sub. I love the bass guitar!
Une belle brochette de bassistes ! Une belle entente très musicale de deux virtuoses Amitiés à vous deux !
the tone.....the tone... is outstanding... :)
Two bass legends in one place..☺️
Bud Spencer and Terence Hill On Bass both insane hahaha
Hahaha. Perfect.
Esatto bravissimo , sono stupito che tu conosca Bud e Terence ciao amico

that would be horrible... there's a reason why I mainly stay behind the camera ;)
It's hard enough making 2 basses at the same time sound good. Any bass extra would sound horrible
MrLordHasta Reference SMV, then revise your comment ;)
Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, and Victor Wooten all on one album. And it was fantastic
I'm an actually not big fan of SMV, they knew how to make 3 basses NOT sound bad, but I'm not really into the whole feel of it.
Words cannot express how much I love these guys
So I'll just express my love to them through some music!
I didn't take bass soloing until now.... this is art.
And I was just starting to think "Wow, I'm pretty good at playing bass" then I see this video. This is Unbelievable! and Federico's bass is the nicest Ken Smith I've ever seen.
Hadrien's bass I mean.
Hadrien's phrasing is incredible. Back yet again for more school.
That's why I live for music man. Those men couldn't help themselves. It just got in em and their bodies responded.
Fantastic
Definition Of Harmony.
Beautiful playing
Steve Lawson edited this audio?!? Heck yea man another great talent! I love this video and all 3 of those masters
Great job! And very nice chord technique!
Damn, took me by surprise when it turned out to be Pusher Love Girl by Justin Timberlake, what a cool tune to jam on, and damn nice playing!
Can't stop watching this!! :)
yo soy un musico uruguayo radicado en argentina . amo la onda de federico y su humor . felicitaciones . kano

Sounds like the epitome of mixolydian. I like to call it urban street music. Sounds like the hustle and bustle of metropolitan areas.
Relaxing to watch!
So cool!
Love this.
Brothers of bass!

Frederico, your Bass is the most Bassest of all the Bass 🐟
I wish Hadrien would kick in into his secret 8th gear, but of course that's just me. Nevertheless, great video and complex chordal spreads!! 5 stars!!
Gorgeous

@6:30 lol It's like a reverse of that one time Miles glared at Herbie for playing gibberish. "Oh you want me to hear a scale out over that? Um, nah I'll be fine."
Nice !!!!
I would love this part as a song 0:25. The rest of this sounds good, but holy crap I picked up my guitar to play along with the time stamp.
Magistral.-
Oh it's "pusher love" by JT - sweet!

Paul Alexander Johnson Okay, I listened again with fresh ears, and I agree. It's not quite as weird as I used to think.
that weird looking bass sounds so fucking sweet, playiing aint bad either
the beauty and the beast lol
BAAAAASSS!!!
or in the background is awesome
Marcus Miller praised Hadrien for his musicality. That’s backed up by what we’ve enjoyed here.
5:42 This is so good...
are they in an airport ???
grande headrien feraud .
