- Snowboarding with my dog! Indy has been the only one loving that the ski resorts here in France are shut, he gets to walk up with me and then snowboard down with me too. I don't let him run down anything steeper than a green run, in case he picks up too much speed. When the snow and pistes are perfect, like his, there is nothing he likes better!

@@alexanderstephen1567 I had a golden retriever who was a total beast; never ran out of energy and would follow me and my horse all day. He could swim for hours and had the stamina of a steam train. He would have loved this!

Another video with your dog! 😍 you should put a GoPro on Indy (I think that’s his/her name) and do a split screen for each of your GoPros. I wish I could take my dog snowboarding or mountain biking with me but he always tries to knock people over. 🐶🐕

Yeah the lifts are shut here in France, so we walk!
@@malcolmmoore here in belgium we cant snowboard becouse we dont have mountains and the indoor parks are closed hopefully we can snowboard next year again

Go to your local rental shop they will get you started.
Theres a load of good options, but yeah, best bet is to pop into a shop and get some advice. But starting on a rental is always a good idea so you can get a feel for it first!

This is something I must do with my aussie lab. Do you do anything in particular to protect his paws? Does he sit with you on the lift or walk up? Loki would die for this.
If the roads have been salted we put vaseline on his paws but in the snow he doesn't have any issues. He walks up with us, this season none of the lifts in france are open due to covid, hence why he's been in alot of my videos recently!
@@malcolmmoore Ah that makes sense, thank you! There’s a ski patrol dog at our local mountain that rides the lifts. It’s pretty baller, but I’m not sure I have the risk tolerance to train Loki to do that.

Would love to know what you're working on at 1:45 using that rhythm technique. I am a relatively new snowboarder at 49 and would love to feel more confident at higher speeds 30mph+ and I believe you used this technique in your chasing Andy video (watching the nose of your board). Would love a video on things to think about/work on to maintain higher speeds with confidence. 24mph is my current top speed that I've felt confident and in control going, but really would like to go faster to keep up with my son. Thanks in advance from a new sub.
Thanks, so here I'm carving, as in not skidding, but engaging the side cut of my board. My edge changes are a mix of mostly down unweighted turns and a few up unweighted, but they're a little lazy here to be honest, mostly I'm just engaging the side cut and letting it pull me around the turn!
@@malcolmmoore Thank you much for your reply. Just recently watched your Sarenne run turn counting vid and your tired arm was well worth the effort for me. The angle shot on the beginning of the flatish part really shows the rhythm I was alluding to. Almost as if your body stays stationary and your feet move back and forth from heel to toe underneath your body. Looks effortless so I know it's all about your timing. Being a golf professional myself, I know technique is crucial in some areas, where this just looks so quiet and calm it has to be all about feel. I'll rewatch your vids about down unweighted and up unweighted turns again, I know I'm close, thanks again! All the best!
Yeah I'm hoping to make more if a video about what turns to do it watch situation soon, but with all the lifts shut here in france this year progress is a little slow! Basically on any pistes up unweighted will always work. You are in a weak position at the start of the turn but as all you are doing is going with gravity down the slope at this point it doesn't matter. By the time you have passed the fall line you are back down low in a strong position ready to absorb all the forces acting against you. down unweighted turns are great in that they put you in a strong position right at the start of the turn so for bumpy terrain they are definitely better. On piste you dont need to do them but you can use them to be more aggressive in your riding. But basically, it's worth mastering the up unweighted turn first as it can be very effective and works in 99% of situations!
How did you make the stick disappear in the video?
Magic! Nah, its filmed in the insta 360 one x2 camera. But basically any 360 camera will do it easily. It captures more than a 180° field of view on both sides of the stick so then using its software it just stitches the two images together and removes the stick!

How long did it take to climb? Is it easy? Did you get raquettes or with your snowboard boots?

ehh careful you don't catch an edge on his legs cutting him off like that. It only takes one small mistake or misstep by the pup. Impressive speed and stamina though.
