My grandpa had a blue hard-top convertible Volkswagen which I remember sitting in and being fascinated by its automatic roof when I was really young. I haven't had an opportunity to sit in it for a very long time, but earlier this year my grandpa wanted me to go on a small road trip with him in his old car, promising to do it in the summer. Unfortunately, he suddenly got really sick and passed away only a month ago. Seeing the clip at the end warmed my heart as it reminded me of him and his car back when I was probably as young as your children are now.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful, priceless memory. I can't imagine how much it must have hurt when you heard his passing. I am sure he was also reminiscing about the old days with you. Stay strong my friend!
Congrats on the vert! Never again live without one. I won't. Coolest part is it has the Viggen body. Step one. Check hot idle oil pressure, if below 20psi at idle(10w30): Skip to step three..... Step two. Install a good oil pressure gauge. Step three. Drop that pan, clean and replace those 3 o-rings to bring that pressure up. Love my 01 Vig vert. You'll love this one too. Nothing else like a convertible.
Congratulations bro! And welcome back to the Saab community 😉! Can’t wait for this thing to get all the details together and a tune! Also the clip with your kids in the car reminds me so much of when my dad had an E46 330 convertible and my brother and I would single the transformers armada theme song 🎵 when the top would go up and down!
Sad to see the Tiburon project come to an end like this. Life just happens sometimes and that's just how it goes. Very happy to see you back on Saabs. I have learned to fix and upgrade mine many times because of your videos. Cheers
Your videos have been so wonderfully helpful. I’m really excited that you just got a Saab that is nearly the same as mine so I can follow along with your projects!!
You will want to waterproof the top. I use Star Brite Marine Waterproofing for my Saab NG900 convertible. It's reasonably priced when comparing it to all the high priced convertible top waterproofing snake oils out there on the market. It works fantastic. Get the brush on, not the spray. Simply wash the top, let dry and apply with a throw away brush. The product dries fast. The next time it rains you can watch the water bead up and roll off the top. You're on your own with the holes in the top. I'm sure there's an easy fix. Good luck and have fun with it.
Super excited to see this series! I have the same car, a 2002 Saab 9-3 SE Convertible and had to do extensive work to it to get it back to driving shape. After a new clutch, entire front suspension rebuild, new roof and hydraulic system, and an entirely new interior its finally road ready. If you need any help or advice I'm more than willing to give my two cents because I love seeing these things on the road!
Man, there are going to be so many low hanging fruits that will make this feel loved! Some more items im sure you are already considering, maybe a couple new: - New badge, side blinkers, rear '3' - Weather strip under the grill, possibly under the headlights (the rubber on both degrades like mad) - Car Guys plastic restorer on all plastic and rubber trim pieces on the car (makes a world of difference) - Remove the windshield cowling and wiper arms, paint both with SEM trim black (HUGE difference) - While cowling is off, replace the cabin air filter (if kids or wife will be in this) and also inspect the blower motor resistor connection, known to corrode/melt/fail over time - Steering rack brace for kicks? But looks like you have your work cut out for you to tidy this one up - definitely saved it from an undignified end!
Kudos man! That's a cool car and you're going to enjoy it I'm sure! I'll be watching your progress! Was just gifted a 2002 9-3 Vert from my mom that is immaculate with 112k. Replacing the stereo this week! 🙂

@bbehzadi413 haha! Glad I could bring back some core memory for you. Funnily enough my son (off camera) asked me if this was a transformer!! 😁😁😁

Yes the Tiburon story is sad but you're right. Life takes you wherever it wants to go haha glad to be back in a saab!
genuine saab steering rack brace makes a big difference on these!
Thanks for the advice!
YESSSIR ! We love to see it. Welcome back to the SAAB.
It's good to be back haha

Very nice Ben! Glad to have someone join the adventure! Let me know if you want to see anything specific, I'm sure we'll have similar issues 😁

@intrepid5684 thank you! That was one of my worries. Will definitely check out that product for waterproofing!

Thanks dude, I saw your reply on the forum as well, it's the little things that make saab ownership fun. Expect to see a lot of what you mentioned!
Very nice. I also just got a 06 aero vert that I've been fixing a lot of electrical issues on. The convertibles are so cool
Convertibles are way underrated. I'm blown away lol
Congratulations! Good luck with the restoration!
Thanks!!
Welcome back! I never cared for convertibles right up till the moment I drove one, and it just happened to be a 2002 9-3 convertible!
Thanks, I feel exactly the same way. I wish I tried one sooner!
Quality vert, nice color too
Thanks!
잘 보고 있어요! I’m expecting the new SAAB project!
@@myounghanyu8911 한국분 반갑습니다! 감사합니다 😁
Here to say congrats! I sold my Viggen on BaT. Might be selling my wagon for a Tesla Model 3…not sure yet
@Bzt3819 thanks!! I corrected your statement: "...might be selling my wagon for another saab Viggen" 😉
