Not only is it still a great game at a good price and the "big" box is appropriately sized for all of its content, but when mine was missing a card when I received it and I emailed Pegasus Spiele, they quickly sent me the card from Germany.
That is actually VERY surprising. Reading the BGG forums on how others who purchased the game that came with issues with the cards (which was a worrisome amount of people) Pegasus Spiele refused to make it right and instead told buyers to go through their FLGS/retailer to ask for a refund. Even though it was THEIR fault for lacking quality control.
@@hucz I had read that on BGG and that's what caused me to carefully check my cards. Further, its link on its North American website for replacements is dead. I emailed the customer service link and wasn't sure they would reply. It took a few days, but they did. Apparently unlike some others, my experience was very good.
@@stevenisaacson5720 They shouldn't have this many issues and I haven't seen them make it right with the other buyers yet. I also don't know for sure how valid the positive feedback is.
@@hucz They're not nearly as bad as Asmodee, but Pegasus Spiele is still pretty bad when it comes to customer service. You certainly CAN get good service, but it is a crapshoot.
Love this game! One of mine and my daughter’s favorite card games. I like the new artwork but I think I still prefer the old art. This and Oh My Goods just have that classic game feel and the updated artwork just doesn’t seem to matchup for me. I know I’m in the minority. Like I said, I love the new art, but for now I’m sticking with my old game. However, I am excited that others can now buy the game and all it’s expansions in a way that’s both convenient and inexpensive. Well done! And well done Tom! Thanks for showing this off!
I know you never talk about price but you get a lot bang for your buck. And buying it separately, and I have seen shops where they had the separate parts and the big box next to each other, will cost you a fair bit more.
This re-release with improved artwork is huge for my game group. In Port Royal, you spend most of your time looking at cards that are halfway across the table and often upside down. The old character cards all looked the same from a distance, it was hard to make out what they were and there was a lot of pick-up-and-peer to check cards out. That was a significant damper on play-ability for us older folks with less than perfect eyesight. This new version is an excellent improvement and is breathing a lot of new life to a great game.
That’s a very lazy review. You literally ignored the only new addition to the game which is the legacy element. With this review I still don’t know if it’s interesting or not.
Also that is not a legacy element, it is more like campaign. In legacy games, besides the story, you usually have something that changes components that cannot returned back to previous state, in campaign games you have a story that you follow but you can reset that at any point and play it again with the same components. 😀 Also some people actually loves that and some do not love that, and I think that Tom mentioned that there is a story way to play it, but he did not like it much. For some people that is great expansion (I am including myself here) but for some that is just not needed addition that will jot change much the way you play some game. 😀
I think the big deal for me personally with the release of this big box was actually being able to get the adventure begins expansion. The campaigns to his games are great for a solo inclusive experience and whole one more contract added that availability, the campaigns in this and Oh My Goods I think make the solo modes even better.
The artwork is gorgeous in the new one. Glad to see they didn't go the route of Sheriff of Nottingham
Love it still! ❤️

same here idk why i love the old euro-ish art compared to modern board games art style, maybe because we played too much agricola! XD
I hope they do the same art upgrade with Oh My Goods.

Bigbox edition actually just means that expansions are included. Making Bigbox editions into oversized boxes is actually a very dumb marketing thing!
I wish publishers could find a way to make “small box edition” sexy… I’m over jumbo boxes (Kickstarter included)
@@ConeDefense I would sell my copy at a loss and absolutely buy a new MKUE "Small Box"

Yeay. I've been asking for this one.
Finally a game I have.
When unboxing the decks are deck A-D, how do you know which deck is which?
It's in the manual.
I’ve seen a version of Port Royal where the ships had country flags on them
This had been the Steve Jackson Games version, which didn't include any expansion.
Me air drumming again at the end
Cosmic encounter expansion coming soon Tom ?
1:08. *WHAT'S IN THE BOX!?!?*
Nope, I need my Klemens Franz art :)
Not a fan of the new fantasy themed art work. I want less Pirates of the Carribean and more Black Sails.

He stated he ignored the worst expansion.

Plus, you couldn't fund the adventure begins expansion anywhere in English.
