    Great video! I wish I had seen it before I did part 1 of my video on the same subject - I would have known how to change the reference resistor value among other things I learned from your video. Thanks for this and please post more on the Analog Discovery and Waveforms.

      Yeah, that pesky resistor was nothing but trouble when I first started playing the AD2-IA. 2 hours later, I started recording. I thought I was under/over driving the ADCs. The display warning too big or too small isn't clear and I continually went the wrong direction. Once I figured that out, then the message made sense. I think the "TheStuffMade" IA used relays or analog switch to select various resistor values during a sweep to avoid noise or and/or overdriving the stage.
      The AD2 is integral to my instructional plans, especially now with the impedance functionality. I really didn't want to implement this functionality. I believe they used "Agilent Impedance Measurement Handbook" techniques, literature.cdn.keysight.com/litweb/pdf/5950-3000.pdf

    Hey Craig, you probably know this by now, but Digilent sells an Impedance Analyzer accessory board that automatically configures the circuit and selects and applies the proper resistor for the particular device you are measuring. It's $21.99, sold by Mouser or Digilent.

      I did know that and I have one. At the time, their impedance analyzer wasn't available. Hey thanks for writing and informing others about the Digilent impedance Analyzer. digilent.com/shop/impedance-analyzer-for-analog-discovery/

      @@CraigHollabaugh Hi Craig, Thanks for your video. I am just wondering if the AD2 can measure a more complex circuit with a combination of L, C, and R? Or is it just suitable for measuring a single capacitor or inductor?

    • @CraigHollabaugh
      @CraigHollabaugh  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yangyu3640 It measures any impedance connected to it. Singles, combinations, etc.

    Many thanks for this video. This is very exciting.
    In Thestuffmade's setup I understand the short leads to the test clips were important to minimize errors. How do you think the setup here with two oscilloscope probes compare to his setup?
    Also on his board he had some amplification before the signal got to the Analog Discovery. How is this done on this new interface for Analog Discovery? It seems it goes all the way down to 1m.
    I'm so happy now finally I can get to experiment with an impedance analyzer :D

      I don't know about the amplifier specifics. I think he was switching in different resistor values during a sweep to stay between the noise and saturation.

      I rewatched, th-cam.com/video/FomGhT8wmB0/w-d-xo.html, and he does both. x16 amps and switching. To bad he was secretive and has seemed to disappear.

    Definitely shows the utility of reactance annuling, which the speaker guys call a Zobel, and the tube guys call a conjunctive filter

      you got that right!

      Conjunctive filter ? Sure a conjugate matching network ???
