This is the first video from the series How does a tree become a house. In this video series we will present our story, our home, Novi Kot village and many other things, we have learned about woodworking and using wood as construction material of our choice.

We want to share our story through Hiša Mandrova (A House Called Mandrova) with people because we believe that everyone has their own story - and that is what connects us in the world.

We are Eva and Aljaž, two souls who packed everything they had and moved away from the city, closer to the vast forestlands on 800m of elevation.

We've rebuilt and renovated an old wooden house all by ourselves, started woodworking and hand hewing. Our lives changed for the better.We became obsessed with wood, natural building materials, manual woodworking techniques, sustainable living and permaculture.
