Found a bottle for a friend willing to pay somewhere between retail and the secondary you listed, and he shared a few pours, totally agree with your thoughts, especially that darker note. I hadn’t thought of Pikesville, can’t imagine what that’d be like if it was proofed up even more 🤔. Cheers 🥃
Great review and it sounds great! I agree that we need more barrel strength rye’s on the shelf. The Corbin Cash distillery is about 130 miles up the road from me in a town called Merced, California so the rye is from Merced pronounced (Mer said) I need to go visit and pick up some bottles! As always thanks for the history and the videos! Cheers!
Probably it is not really comparable to this, but have you had Templeton 10 Rye, Jason? It is supposedly MGP with the same age, but different mashbill and at 104 proof for around 60 Euros. It seemed like a huge bargain to me, and indeed I like it very much.
Jason, I just opened my Sagamore 8-year and loved it! How does this compare? The other delicious rye I never hear people talk about is Alberta Premium Cask Strength. I know Canadian has a noticeably different flavor, but this Alberta is delicious.
i tasted this 2 weeks ago. Shes def a spicier rye for sure. i dont get much of the things i dont like on a lot of ryes (dill/fennel), almost drinks like a high rye spicy bourbon.
Don’t forget Barrell Batch 4 Rye. It’s got 10 year MGP with younger distillates in for fruit. It’s awesome at $85. Smooth, elegant, delicious and sitting on our shelves.
The issue I have with companies doing “donations” is they generally use that to mitigate tax liabilities, so essentially you’re paying the corps taxes. Can’t say that’s what distillers do but I wouldn’t be surprised
Where I live (New Hampshire), there is tons of WhistlePig Rye's. Picked up a bottle of 10 and it's pretty tasty. That along with Willet and my Rye itch is scratched.
Jason, how do you mostly say you would pay msrp for bottles when giving your final breakdown? This time, you said 200, but Parker's are 250 minimum just about everywhere. And since you are a successful whiskeytuber, you don't have to pay what most of us do.
what would I pay is mostly what I think it's worth. I realize it doesn't always line up with the markups. And being a whiskeytuber doesn't shield me from high markups. Sometimes it does but that's mostly from the smaller brands. Heaven hill, buffalo trace and even wild turkey, all of those bottles I pay retail or high markups for reviews.
Got one this week by surprise, the lady didn’t even know what it was! She nonchalantly said I have this I just got in if you want it 🤷🏻♀️
I had the same thing happen about a month ago. Lol 🍀
I have had similar experiences like that. I love those ladies! ❤😂
Heaven Hill needs to release Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Rye already!!!! 😋
Hell yeah! Corbin Cash getting some love, your pick from earlier this year was great btw!

I paid 250. I don’t mind that. Can’t wait to open it at Christmas time!
I tried it and I thought it was lackluster. I thought the front of the palette was the best part.

I think the sagamore 8 year year can go head to head with it. It may be my favorite rye this year still
It’s so good!
I REALLY loved the 8yr double barrel rye, probably top 5 of all time. Do you think these are even in the same class?
Well doesn't have that heavy char so I'm sure it's pretty different.

My LLS got a bottle and wanted $600. I bought a bottle of Jack barrel proof rye for $70 instead.
I got mine 2 weeks ago for $195 , but haven't opened it yet
@mashanddrum how can I get you a sample again I wanna see you review the High west prisoner share

Hey Jason, have you tried the Little Book Chapter 7?
Next review!
Got one for msrp but traded it for Russell’s single Rick CNF 😂
Well done. I know Campari is screwing me over but I'm a Turkey

What’s a reasonable price for a 1 ounce pour at a bar?
30-40 maybe
on allocation day it was limit one bottle and i had to pass on the parker's heritage to grab the magnus cigar blend.

$165 at Sam's Club during an allocated drop
I get cinnamon raisin bread on the nose for the Willet green top every day rye. Much cheaper alternative lol
Ridiculous pricing for the average whisky drinker. No way Jose! Sagamore Ryes will blow tis away!
Was very disappointed with the 10 yr. the 8 yr crushed it. They can keep it
I think it is wonderful that president Zelenskyy has time in his day to review this highly sought after eye.😂tell me they are are not Twinkie’s.
PHCrye nVA now GOOD LUCK !
