    Length of the plate not mentioned... Is there any reason

    • @themechanicalengineer
      @themechanicalengineer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The length has no influence in the stress induced. Since the stress depends on the cross section area.

      @@themechanicalengineer Is all type of stresses is not depends on length.. ?
      Like von moises stresses... etc... If possible please make a lecture on types of stresses and their behavior on the mechanical components..

      I want to calculate stress concentration factor due to lateral and longitudinal compression for composite cylinder. I'm unable to fi d relevant formula. Please help me in this to find specific.

      I calculated Stress concentration factor for longitudinal compression using formula for axial tension it is 3.13. So usually it is less then 3 but in my case it is 3.13 and if I increase hole diameter it becomes 3.43

      Calculating stress concentration factors for composite structures can be complex and typically involves using finite element analysis (FEA) software or specialized numerical methods. Stress concentration factors are influenced by various factors such as geometry, material properties, and loading conditions, making it difficult to provide a specific formula that covers all scenarios.
      However, I can give you a general outline of the steps involved in analyzing stress concentration factors for composite cylinders under lateral and longitudinal compression. Keep in mind that this is a high-level overview, and you should refer relevant literature for accurate analysis.
      Define the geometry of your composite cylinder, including dimensions, wall thickness, and layers of different materials. Specify the material properties of each layer, including Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio, and strength properties.
      Define the applied loads, both lateral and longitudinal compression, as well as their magnitudes and directions.
      Create a finite element mesh for your composite cylinder using FEA software. The mesh should accurately capture the geometry and layers of the composite.
      Apply appropriate boundary conditions that mimic the real-world constraints.
      Perform a finite element analysis to simulate the behavior of the composite cylinder under lateral and longitudinal compression.
      Calculate the stress concentration factors using the stress values obtained from the analysis. The stress concentration factor is typically defined as the ratio of the maximum stress at a critical location to the nominal stress that would exist without the presence of stress concentration.
