Totally agree with the positive comments here. This is a very clear presentation, no words but Scott shows what to do step by step. Even a few places where he clearly changed his mind, or decided to clean a part after he started to put it back. I'm not very mechanical, the printed directions are hard for me to interpret. This video was a godsend.
You just made my day much easier. I gave mine a bleach bath before starting - It's been on the boat for quite awhile and got lots of use in seas...... Thank you!
Well done - great idea not 'being in' the video, except for your hands. It is about the rebuild, not your face, nor your words. Perfect! I've done it before and this video would have made it soooo much easier the first time - which took me 5 hours (including the endless soak in muriatic acid) because I had to 'discover' those little tricks to getting it apart. But you showed every step!! Wonderful! Lots of thanks and best wishes
Scott is a man of few words. Most useful video if you have a Raritan like I do. Seeing it in the 3 dimensional "flesh" much better than an exploded diagram. Indeed there are. However, I haven't come across one that is as detailed, clear, and not intimidating. Also, your style is unique because you don't have excess verbiage as the others do. Obviously, you were interested in teaching not hearing yourself talk.
It goes in the fitting the discharge hose attaches to, pointing away from the pump body. My discharge hose and fitting were still on the boat so no way to install the joker valve as part of the pump rebuild.
@@scottfuller1264 Thanks Scott. How about the flapper valve. Mine fell out the minute I pulled off the assembly so I got no chance to see the orientation of it.

Thanks again - the directions that come with the rebuild kit are worthless, your video saves me a lot of time and experimentation!

There are a number of videos on servicing Harken winches but I couldn't find any on the head rebuild, which is why I did this one.

Joker valve should be installed with the slit oriented vertically.
