The cobra island trooper is my Sergeant for the heavy troopers, while 1 of the regular troopers will keep his armband and lead the troops. The officer will be overall in charge and I got 4 Valks of which 1 has the officer helmet on. She leads them. Totaling my forces to 15. 4 regular infantry, 1 cobra island trooper, 5 retro troopers, 1 officer, 4 valkeries.
Retro version for me. It triggers more the nostalgic feeling of the original one. I hope they make a female and officer version too, to match the blue. ✌️
Thanks for checking it out, Johnny. As for that rifle, yeah yet another example of them throwing anything in that they feel resembles the original in the cheapest way possible 🙄
@SharkEyesToyView yeah, for shame. But on a positive note, I was on the fence about ordering these, but now I think I will get a squad of them and will rearm them with the correct rifles from Gridiron. 👍😎
I think that rifle looks great with this retro-same-shit trooper! The only problem imo is the warped, soft plastic! 😡 But a little hate'll take care of that...
I canceled my 4 Retros on preorder and bought 2 additional Classified Infantry at $40 ea instead because I like the modernized update and uniformity in my collection.
Yea that classified series of cobra trooper, officer, and infantry bucks were all really nice imo. Retro looks good but still like those classified aesthetics of the prior a bit more.
The main line blue officer still remains my absolute favorite. Very clean lines and textures, less is more approach. This retro blue looks good, but I have to take points away for the shin guards and forearm (guantlets), since they are a little distracting for me. I'll award him 3rd favorite, without having him in hand. I get they try to differentiate the troopers and officers but...preferences lol Once again, I agree heavily on the issue with the spin -the-wheel weapons choices for a retro character!! Missed the mark. The head articulation is refreshing, looking up. Thanks for the early review!
Hey Blitz, yeah I'm with you on the main line one being my preferred choice. The retro is good, but like Stalker, a little lazy in some respects. Where as Duke and Scarlett were home runs, the latter two not so much. The weapons specifically being that sticking point for me.
I have all the O-Ring 3.75in figs from the when I was collecting through the 80's, and this "Retro" carded Cobra Trooper version hits my sweet spot, since it is closest to the original Cobra Trooper. Same goes for the majority of the Retro Cardback figures (I highly recommmend Scarlett if you just have to buy one). I prefer them over their modern "interpretations". purely from a nostalgically aesthetic viewpoint
That’s exactly what I was thinking. And I waited on the retro scarlet before I bought one. She is the perfect fit in the classified space even though she is retro.

Like I said in the review, the paint deco difference isn't really jarring and you can get away with either one being a distinct Infantry member. For example, you could make a group a mortar unit, so that's why they wear a different shade of blue. Just play around with it ya know.
Hey Pop, it's nice solid figure. Minor QC issues and the rifle aside, I'm happy with it. Will be interesting to see what the second one is like when I crack that open tomorrow. Thanks for swinging past, mate.

They could have easily used the Cobra Officer's boots and it would have looked far closer to the original 80s figure, and would have helped to differentiate the figure from the Cassified Cobra Infantry. They already had the tooling!

I don't understand the rank bands. The Officers have 2 inverted chevrons, the Cobra Island has 1 inverted chevron while this guy has 3 inverted chevrons. Does this make him a rank higher than the Cobra Island guy but lower than the Officers?
Who knows! Perhaps the factory has them the wrong way around or perhaps it's just made up silly nonsense. It's a good question for Lenny and the brand team.
@@SharkEyesToyView I enjoyed the review! Prefer the updated version myself as I like a new spin on nostalgic things, as for smaller figures I have all the Sigma 6 figures 8" and that's a very stylised line, I guess it's the product designer in me! ;-)

3. Strive to be a better human on the internet.
Great review. It is a shame the same qc issues keep popping up.
Thanks, Dave. I guess it's just going to persist at this point.
Is the paint on the eyes cheap? Looks sloppy
Nah I don't think it looks bad.
Heat that butterfly joint up and you should be able to loosen it up without breaking the figure
Yup. That's what will be taking place today. Thanks for tuning in.
I think the trooper mold has been suffering from mold degredation. The janky leg didn't seem to be on this one, though.
Yeah the legs were solid on this one. Lemme see what happens when I open up another one tomorrow.
Man I was waiting for that foot to pop off. Looks like he needs a good old boiling water bath for sure. Guess that’s a problem from the first time around. Would have been nice to get a new mold but alwell
Mate it was a hairy moment for a few seconds there lol. He'll be going in the action figure hot tub today (or as they are more commonly known, Tupperware containers).
@@SharkEyesToyView 😂😂😂
Was he made from the 1wave parts bin? He has pinned joints, come on hasblow,he looks good but they could of did way better on their end goid video though bro
Yeah it's a tad lazy in that department, but you know how the re-use be. Thanks for tuning in once again good sir.
Firefly PTSD hahahahahaha😂 I think I like the retro better. I definitely like the head sculpt better and that’s the only difference between the two besides the gear
Lol that's a real condition for some. Yeah there's again nothing really new with this retro much like Stalker. People will of course gobble them up tho.
@@SharkEyesToyView believe that brother I got 3 coming in December now lol
Hahaha I settled on three also and I'm done now.
Noice
Noiiiiiiiiiice.
Load out on the first color on the second.
So wait are cobra soldiers actually people or are they clones of couple of soldiers ?
Goof question. In the cartoons and Marvel comics, the assorted Cobra Infantry and Vipers have been human.
Pins? Still?
Yeah old figure buck my guy. A shame hey.

Let us know if your second figure has the same issues.
Watch this space.
Prefer first release, darker colour same as infantry and officials.
Yep something about those first releases that I prefer more so also. Thanks for checking out the vid.
RPK with a drum mag,
That's the one! Had a brain fart at the time. Thanks for weighing in and checking out the review.
@@SharkEyesToyView I enjoyed the review! Prefer the updated version myself as I like a new spin on nostalgic things, as for smaller figures I have all the Sigma 6 figures 8" and that's a very stylised line, I guess it's the product designer in me! ;-)
Yep I'm with you on the updated front. In fact, I wish the Classified line design team would lean more into that when it comes to the main line releases.
@@SharkEyesToyView They tried but it backfired on them, remember the first line with the metal accented armour etc..? The collectors hated it, most of them just want what they had as kids but bigger. No imagination or appreciation for modernization, hence the Retro Carded line but at least we're getting the others too!
Oh yeah I've been there from the start and watched that all unravel and subsequent course correct. "No imagination or appreciation for modernisation" that about sums it. I'm just glad Lenny & Co still aren't afraid to take some gambles (see: upcoming Raptor for example) and bring things future forward. There is room for meshing the past and present.
Retro cards reference colour of original release carded oring figures. Not as much comic or cartoon per se.
The figure has a frozen shoulder 😂
Lol you must be new to the line.
I like him but he doesn't match at all. He's also sold out everywhere so I probably won't get him.
A hasbro nao tem capricho com a fabricacao dos bonecos .
A bit of hate will fix that.
Hahaha I try not to hate my figs, but some heat will do the trick 😉
Great review
Thx Casey you ripper of a bloke.
