Door goes from cheap industrial to having a soul. It begs for the outside handle now. Great use on the breadloaf anvil. Amazing what a difference that magnet makes. Thanks Glen!

I was thinking the same with the magnet. But, I do like that little bit of a ring though at times.

You read my mind as I want to make an outside handle next. With magnet and without is night and day on this small anvil. Thanks

I completely agree. I also really like the very clear sound of the ring but it does get old kind of quick. Thanks.

Since most of what I do requires a flat surface, I can't figure out a use for the little anvil. I'm sure it would be great for a jeweler.
Good looking hammer! If I was a full-time welder, those would be on my "must have" list! Love your videos. Hope and pray that you and your wife stay safe and well.

    • @gstongs

Like you, I do the vast majority of my forging on a flat surface. But having this little bread loaf anvil makes me want to figure out uses. I appreciate your kind wishes and hope the same for you and your family.

That was a very cool video! Thank you. I still can't believe the voice!! On that little tiny anvil. I was shocked at how loud it was! The trick with the magnet was a nice touch. I saw your earlier video showing the magnets on your main anvils

Hi Glen. I am not getting though on the email address for some reason. I think my new laptop is not set up right. Anyhow. Just wanted to say thanks for the tools. They are amazing. I did a mail call video on them on my YT page. I don't make a lot of videos, don't really know how to edit. I will be back in the shop in a couple of weeks and will do another video on the bending jig and another on the guillotine. I know the mail frustrated you, but I am happy with the way everything went. Slow moving is still moving... Lol... I can't say thanks enough. I am over the moon about them...

I can see it as a whitesmiths tool very easily.
    Thank you for sharing this.
Quick question. In your project for the handle. As I watched it go into the twist phase my noodle said what if. So cuz your the pro and I have done it...lol
What if you orientated your two ends into a square rather than a flat?. Uhg now I said it had to stop n think of how the vice works...so it would almost require a vice bolsters to keep the 4 pieces in a square as the twist was applied. Dang noodle of mine...always complicating things.🤔
Oh well thanks for putting up w my endless questions brother 😁

I got this very small anvil from a Taiwan friend who got it from somewhere in China. Your "noodle" works better than mine. The twist as I did it wasn't ideal and squaring the rods would have been much better. Thanks for your input and for continuing to put up with my experiments.

The term's usually used to describe keeping the surfaces and edges smooth and clean and flat. A deformed surface (probably obviously, to you) will distribute force improperly back into the hot metal and be generally more difficult to work with, for instance, work on an anvil face with a large chip or dent in it won't be nearly as clean or flat. Dressing, often through welding and grinding, can be a way of "cleaning up" the face.
