Susan Devoy and Ming Foon are living proof that you can be brilliant in one field of endeavor and utterly unhinged at another. It's either that or you have to do a Clockwork Orange form of SJW conversion therapy to take the job. I leave out the later appointments because they were woke lunatics from the start.

yes, she was extremely counterproductive. Very bad ideas, leading to very bad results

NZ shouldn't have a race relations commissioner.

We don't need a race relations commissioner, but even if we did need one, we really should do better than the ones we've had!

Perhaps her appointment was based on a notion that filling a position that shouldn't exist with a person entirely incapable of filling it would nullify the harm of its existing. If so it didn't work.

Race relations has consistently worsened since the Waitangi Tribunal debacle. We had a thriving happy linked society up until then. I noticed the Sailing Away song from early 70s has been circulating please play it on the show it really presents the reality of oneness that has been washed away with anti colonial racism and false narratives from a past that had more miracles than war. Race relations was originally and successfully developed by the early Protestant missionaries. It's the Gospel that unites people we have to dump all the race obsessions otherwise fund every ethnicity to make documentaries about their own history in NZ from their perspective.

"tongue in cheek"- The moment she became Race Relations Commissioner, had to move to windy Wellington and found that she faced a multitude of paper that needed moving around the desk, and when she asked if she was doing it right, the answer was - "Have you played Chess before"? "No she replied". "Well Ma'am, you certainly are adept at moving paper". "How so"? "Well once you move the paper, it is like a chess piece, it is suddenly is checkmate(d) by something else". I will leave you to continue the story!!

More of a hit piece on her character and short fallings, than a balanced overview.
To be fair if you question the narrative or look at things from a different perspective you very often become demonized and ridiculed for doing so.
