  • So we tried to pull consecutive espresso shots on Maespresso 58. Pulling 5 shots in 13 mins. The whole video is not accelerated.
    Ratio 19g in 35~40g out
    Extraction time around 40s
Note: The whole portafilter is still the testing sample, so the extraction might not be good-looking. New portafilter will be coming soon and come with high flow and low flow features.

Thank you for the review with consequent shots. It is a brilliant concept. Next to my large range of espressomachines in the high end and vintage levers (I am waiting for my Odyssey Argos) I tried many concepts for traveling with the Mypressi Twist as highlight, unfortunate that broke down. My 2 cents are you do not need to counter twist the distributor, your tamping could you some extra force, nor do you need to add a paper filter on top of the ground. If you want to use a paper filter, do it before you fill the portofilter with ground. This way you filter out the Cafestoles. You use the CO2 cartridge, if you use the small pump you can pre-infuse and control the profile slightly better. I pre infuse with 2-3 bar for 10 seconds and then go all the way up to 9 bar. This is just an example. Then, if you reached shot volume you can release the air immediately, pressing the pressure release button. Further this is great! Nowadays it seems that you need a paperfilter and a puck filter on top and a WDT and a distribution tool and so on. I am a simple person and never used all these fancy things, just grind, even it with my hand V-thumb/indexfinger, tamp straight with 20 kg and go, brew ratio 2 with 18-20 grams in and open portofilter.

I ordered one but i dont like the sillicone puck thing.
Can i use the portafilter without it.
    How to get extra ones?

It's a cool concept. I love any attempt at making high quality espresso accessible for a lower cost. I think this video however demonstrates some significant flaws in the product. Hopefully they produce a version 2.

Can you flow profile? Why do you remove the cartridge after every shot? Can you use a manual pump to build pressure? Why do all of the shots have multiple streams and look a bit sloppy? Is it just not enough WDT/tamping?

I don't think you can due to its design but I could be wrong. I think the use of a air cartridge means you build pressure with a given amount of air you let in, then that air stays in the chamber and bleeds out through the puck so stopping or lowering the air flow would not immediately decrease or shift the pressure. You can go up in pressure but decreasing immediately on the fly doesn't seem possible cuz It has to bleed out and slowly come down to lower pressures you adjust opposed to a direct lever like the flair or robot where stopping or easing up on the lever will give you direct immediate control on the system's pressure.

What have you connected instead of the pump?

I would love to see a comparison between this and a flair 58 or flair neo.

I think you might have a good product but none of your marketing materials seem to give a proper technical rundown of how it works in detail.
How many espressos (30g yeild) could I expect from one gas cartridge?

    • @Maespresso58Pro
      @Maespresso58Pro  ปีที่แล้ว

Based on our test, one 16g co2 cartridge can make 10~12 shots of espresso(36g yield). For the air pump, we did not test the result cuz it's based on the battery size of the air pump. The current pump we are using is Xiaomi air pump and it got a 2000mAh battery. We never fully charged the pump and it already made over 30 shots from the last charge and still working fine. Oh, thanks for the advice about the detail rundown, will be working on it :)

@@Maespresso58Pro I'm very curious on temperature stability because room temp air is being constantly injected into the system to maintain pressure which might cool down the hot water you put in which could affect the extraction of some coffees that benefit from a higher brew temperature. Is this the case for this setup?

@@dominicjestinchankingwai4105 If the air pressure is increased from 1 Bar to 9 bar, the temperature of the gas will also increase rapidly.

@@Maespresso58Pro That would be the case if the volume of the gas does not change and there is no heat dissipation. Those two do not apply here. But you could have a thermometer to show actual temperature.
