TURN YOUR LIFE INTO A WORK OF ART

  • The Design Of Experience is the art of choreographing or “stage-designing” your life. If the world is a series of unspooling dramas, if everything is theater, then why not exercise authorship over one’s own play? Take control of your life. Your creative and linguistic choices govern your fate. You design therefore you become. Make of your life a work of art.

Not gonna lie, this is the best Shots of Awe video I have seen on his channel in years. No distracting edits or music, no ideas rehashed from another video. I like this format. Simply Jason moving through his own subjective understanding of the world explaining the need to make experience design a bigger part of our lives. I hope that the channel takes this approach more in the future. While all the big boisterous choir and epic music that tells the audience they are suppose to be having an epiphany is nice and all, with psychedelic color schemes, there is something more mature and enthralling of simply listening to Jason excitedly explain his ideas and way of seeing the world. Please make more videos like this.

“Just Play” - Alan Watts Often Said That Existence Is A Dance - It’s A Play. It’s Play In The Sense Of Having Fun, But Also In The Sense Of Actors Playing A Part, That Is Not To Be Taken Too Seriously. It’s A Passing Cloud, Where In The Moment It Is Enjoyable And Meaningful, Yet Simply Justifying Itself As It Is, And Then It Passes W/o There Ever Having Been A Serious Point To It.

I adore this concept and couldn't more more behind you on it Jason, there are moments when life is magic, and those are what this is all about. That said, any creative knows that some of the best turns in a story (Tolkien wrote Lord of the Rings without having the faintest idea where Frodo would go, or who he'd meet, Strider wasn't even Aragorn). So while editing and choreagraphing is important, "control", equally great is our ability to embrace the unknown, the idea that the next moment, the next bend could harbour something which our consciousness has never even become acquainted with, nor even imagined before. I think we should save a third of the runtime, at least, for for god only knows what.

So well said with passion.............I live this way, but in the "negative moment" forget for awhile. It seems important to "know" the art of being human as we swim through the illusion. I like the "swim" metaphor as it frames flow as well as effort, for this is a dense and weighty illusionary planet

Sounds kind of like what people refer to as the hero's journey...romanticism of the individual struggle and suffering. It can be a great thing...for some. Others may not make it.Sometimes it's Like the universe does this itself.... I did not try to make my life like a work of art but it is an epic. It just happened. It's the kind of art that can disturb the most comfortable mind.
How comfortable are you? If "I" want to really manipulate this art called my life, I must get people like you to be disturbed by it. That's good art...but people don't want this comfort disturbed.

A mixed reality Aura with all the machine learning and artificial intelligence that is needed to navigate the internet of things to design and manage a life of awe, wonder and joy. I wish I was finished but, by the time I leave India it should be done. I definitely would like to meet you Jason. I'd be very happy to collaborate with you on building AuraOZ, or at least teach you how to build one once I've built mine and have started teaching others.

If your life is a movie.. make sure it's one that doesn't go straight to VHS.. or the bargain bin. Make it one that would have people lining up around the block to see over and over again.
I think Kubrick was touching on ideas about humanity being one big pre-determined movie.. as the monolith is actually a cinema screen turned on its side. Rob Ager does some brilliant analysis on this.. (when Dave ends up in that light filled room at the end, there's a close up where his helmet shows a reflection of the film crew.. the moment where he self realises he's in a movie and he's playing a character on the stage of life)

I’m curious. Is there sound coming through your headphones? Reason I ask is that when I wrote my book “Life There’s an App for That” which you wrote the foreword to, I wrote that while walking and listening to liquid mind radio and walking with a voice recorder. I was able to enter into flow rather easily and daily by doing what you are doin. Perhaps I should get back to this. We should meet.

Dear Jason Silva....this suddenly makes perfect sense to me....but what of the issue of "dependents", meaning husband, children and of all the incidents that happen to us that we were not necessarily in control of? I totally get what you are saying , in setting the stage, but can this work for those inundated in within the confines of the ties that bind (not that they are bad but EXTREMELY unmanageable in "real life")?
