- Hey love! In this video i share some low porosity dos and donts so if you have low porosity hair, please watch this video. Natural hair has so many challenges and one of the major problems we have with moisture and length retention are because of not knowing how to cater to our porosity. I will share 5 low porosity mistakes you may be making and how to fix them.

My hair is low priority but dries fast
2:54 low porosity hair tends to be very dry. Can use the shower to see how long it takes to get wet. She doesn't like the traditional test for low porosity because it varies depending on your hair state at that point. Also hair can have multiple states.
3:50 products don't absorb into the hair readily, it sits on the hair esp like leave in conditioners.
4:40 hair feels oily it doesn't soak in
5:50 hair takes long to dry.
8:13 mistakes like using very thick products. Instead use lighter products. Use thick products for the end results of holding not for moisturizing
10:14 put conditioner on in shower. If you have time use heat to help the deep conditioning. Make sure use a plastic cap liner not direct heat, and or use steamer. Don't use cold water to seal cuticles, low porosity cuticles already difficult to open.
15:23 don't seal hair when dry. All you would be doing is sealing in the dryness. Wasting product sitting on the shaft of the hair.
18:00 shampoo more if you do ore wash and goes. Make sure shampoo is sulfate free and moisturizing. Try different products to see what works best for your hair.

I think the best test is if your hair takes a while in the shower to get wet, then its LOW porosity, and it if your hair is immediately saturated with water, then its HIGH porosity. I found the more I payed attention to how my hair was feeling lol, it really helped me figure out what's best for my hair. Finding out your porosity will do wonders for you!! At least I thought so!!!
I’m so happy I came across your video! Lately my hair hasn’t been growing and it’s because I haven’t been using heat like I should. I put so much product on my hair (sometimes dry 🫣) and I just need to buckle down a routine that support healthy hair and hopefully get longer hair in return. I would love to see your wash day regime! It looks like we have very similar textures/hair properties.

I have low porosity and Ive got cornrows rn and my hair is still moisture with I moisturized it 3 days ago
My low porosity hair loves cornrows and flat twist. My hair feels it’s healthiest and more moisturized with those hairstyles

But your hair is supposed to be freshly washed when you do the porosity test for the most part. But I do get the point you made about different parts of your hair can be different porosities

First thing, if you are still using rice water and that is what started the hair fall, stop. Next i would suggest low manipulation hairstyles and looking into your diet 💖

My mistake was not using hit to seal in moisture I kept doing my routine well but despite all that i got tangles until I realized that the product that I was applying didn't even enter my hair...I was supposed to use warm water and then apply the products🤦
