The Hatchet serves next to no purpose in pvp unless you are 5v1ing someone who doesnt know how to hit their space bar or use their shield. The only reason i used the Hatchet was chasing runners and escaping gank squads. Also it's the best pve weapon. You would be better off running a musket for traps or warhmmer for cc.

I think the dude who is in charge of combat got his hand forced because before their change in direction the combat was months from completion then they went and redid the entire fundamental stagger system, biggest mistake they ever made.

Approaching group fights looks really similar to Dark Souls or Mordhau in this clip, where you can whiff punish people blindly approaching you and keep them at bay with your attacks. Now that's impossible to do.

The PvP flagging system has not changed since the preview. There is open PvP through voluntary flagging but no rewards for killing other players only punishment for dying. I think there will be a good amount of PvP come launch and then it will swiftly die off with the rest of the game within 3-4 months as there is absolutely zero end-game besides PvP and there is no PvP rewards or progression system. They added a Battleground but you cannot que with friends its all random all the time so purely RNG experience based on capability of your team vs enemy.

for those that dont know... this combat is during closed testing / alpha test....... they removed stagger and completely changed stamina, and overall how the combat plays and feel.
I was relying on opening with a heavy attack into a shield bash which guarantees me the spreadshot. This puts them low enough HP to finish them off with a few arrows. You can tell whenever I try to shoot I get hit because animation lock so its not really effective to shoot arrows to dwindle them down in this scenario

They have pvp. But you can toggle it on and off in town. Like warmode in wow.
