Two things unworldly: That version of When My Time Comes, and this entire production. I’m 65 and grew up with all the great singer/songwriters of the 60s and 70s rightfully revered by my generation as well as the current one, but I’m sick of hearing how music died after whatever decade you were in high school. I wish I could say Taylor is the best songwriter in the world today, but as great as he is, and he’s in my top five for sure, there are too many great ones to call any one the best. Not to mention that Paul Simon is still with us and still writing great songs today. The point is, we’re in a music renaissance right now. Of course there’s a ton of crap out there but it has always been thus. One of the biggest changes has been the death of commercial music radio. Whatever that shit is you hear when you turn it on, it’s irrelevant. The great ones don’t write for radio these days. Spotify, Pandora, TH-cam, etc. don’t care how long your song is. Music is alive and in better hands than ever to anyone willing to look for it. Most of Taylor’s songs would never make it on commercial radio, but they are masterpieces of pop songwriting and worthy to stand beside anything the greats of my generation penned.

Taylor's songwriting and musicianship is like a good wine... Keeps getting better with the pass of time. Thanks Ernie Ball for recognizing one of the best at their craft right now.
A couple of days ago I lost my Mother unexpectedly but I saw this video on Instagram and screenshot it to watch later. I adore this profile of Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes. Thank you so much for sharing it. A Little Bit Of Everything isn't just my favorite Dawes song, it's my favorite song period. What a beautiful solo rendition!
It took me way too long to figure out what Taylor Goldsmith (and DAWES) is all about. It's awesome. They are in their own lane, musically. I love how he explains the want and desire to continue learning and getting better. I can definitely relate to that. Always be a student of the game... never think that you have peaked. If you notice a plateau in your songwriting or guitar playing, try listening to a different style of music. Maybe it will inspire you to do something different.
Wow... just when you’re thinking the music gear world had completely forgotten what music is actually for... some real music happens 😐😳❤️👍🏻👍🏻 Thank you!
Fantastic video with insight and depth. Thanks for this, Ernie Ball. Taylor definitely stands out as one of the best songwriters in a long time (and killer voice and guitar playing)
Love TG and I love Ernie Ball/Music Man, but dude there are already a hundred versions of A Little Bit of Everything out there. Would have loved to instead hear Maria, Side Effects, We’re All Gonna Die, or literally anything else.
There’s nothing more jarring than a commercial for Las Vegas in the middle of “A Little Bit of Everything.” At the very least, please put the commercials between songs. How disrespectful.
Shout out to Sound City...so very glad that place is still getting utilized to make incredible stuff like this
Taylor is such a criminally underrated songwriter that this generation of listeners doesn't even deserve.
Talent. Taste. Original. A treasure. You inspire me
one of my favorite songwriters, hands down, and a phenomenal guitar player.
Agree 👍❤

Who are some of your other favorite songwriters working today? Would love some recommendations.

He makes it look so effortless. This man is a massive talent and is a born songwriter and musician. I’m such a fan of his and of Dawes.
Beautiful voice. Good work. And great memory.
I've learned so much about guitar and songwriting from Taylor since they released North Hills. This video feels like it was made just for me
Me too bro. He's changed the way I play guitar.
He and the rest of the band are Amazing. Love Dawes

What a talent. Great live band. I’ve seen them 4 times. I hope i see many more Dawes shows.
I love the slinky strings for electric. Might have to try out the acoustic. Have always used martins but these sound great.

Middle Brother is amazing as well.
Amazing storyteller
All of them are just lovely!!
Eine wunderschöne Einleitung für das Konzert in Berlin...ich freue mich!
I picked up Native Dancer in the "weird albums" bin of a local record shop for $3. That was a game changer for me.
ALWAYS peruse any bin that’s labeled “weird”….
Wow, Taylor is amazing. ☮️♥️🎶
Unreal. Great Sound.
The best taylor songwritter ever
Taylor keeps setting the bar.
Absolutely brilliant
Amazing talent
Just wonderful.
What a talent!
So good. Dreams about being a fraction of that.
Inspiration. Thank you, for the songs and the opinions.
Amazing artist 😉
Dawes is looong overdue for an acoustic album
Lovely tunes!!!!!!!!!!!! Great video!
this makes me want to switch from daddario to ernie ball
Lovely! Which exact model of Martin is that??
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
re: A Little Bit of Everything, anyone who ever written even one song when they hear that has to think "damn I wish I had written that one " 😊
Some parts in Crack The Case remind me of Thank God For Kids...🤗
Get Blake on here next!
I’d love to see Taylor Goldsmith do a collaboration with Joanna Newsom.

The songwriting advice in here is unreal
