That looks like a red drum aka redfish. They are an inshore saltwater species but they can tolerate fresh water. In some areas in the southeast they’ve become landlocked and survive but can’t reproduce. If that’s a freshwater lake he could have snuck in through a creek if you are close to any estuaries. They range from Texas all the way to Maryland and are delicious. Tight lines, brother!
I just read about it. Braunig and Calaveras are the only two freshwater lakes to hold redfish. Apparently they stock them. Keep looking for them, they can grow pretty big.
@@Keep83yessir they stock them. They get pretty big just like the saltwater ones. When I first moved to San Antonio I was shocked cause I never heard of something like that😂happy new years tight lines🤙🏼
Outstanding, brother and thank you for sharing. We are going to hit Calaveras in the morning, for a couple of hours. I hope you had a Merry Christmas... Keep on Fishing and best wishes, from Mario! 🎣🐟💯

Thanks and good luck on fishing tomorrow! I saw they’ve been catching a lot of catfish at Calaveras lake🤙🏼
I caught a small rock fish with same problem here in Baltimore !
My guess is that they were injured as small fish and just grew like that😂
Nice ❤
Thanks for the love! 🤙🏼
