Fun fact. JBL were the speakers of choice at abbey road studios for the beattles in the 60s. James B Lansing (JBL) was basically the godfather of modern loudspeaker. If you don't remember, maxcell had a commercial of a guy sitting in a chair in front of a pair of speakers being blown away. If you have ever seen jackass, Ryan Dunn was dressed as the same maxcell guy sitting behind a jet liner, and gets blown away. Well, those speakers in the maxcell commercial are JBL. And actually are a icon in the audiophile world. Know as the "rockers" speaker of the 70s, which you can still buy btw. But yeah, JBL is legendary. And for the price, it's a no brainer.
Just bought a pair of these and i think they sound absolutely fantastic 😊👍 I have them connected to a Yamaha tyros 5 and a computer, and am just very happy with them 👍
I just got them and connected to a Nord Stage 3. I'm satisfied overall, yet if I crank up the volume a bit (I keep their volume at about 7-8, and the keyboard's to 3/4) I hear some distortion/vibration even when playing just a piano. Does this happen to you too? Cheers
turning the speakers on after everything else, i.e (laptop/audio interface, etc) is a nice touch/good advice for those of us who are prone to heart attacks lol so tnx
That very loud rude popping sound has to be avoided. Knowing the right order in which to turn on and turn off the components of this speaker system is very important in order to avoid this dangerous and expensive sounding occurrence. You should be careful to turn on/off the system properly to avoid the abrupt loud popping.
Good review. I just bought these with the subwoofer because it was about half the price of the Yamaha HS8s bundle. I'm using them for home studio writing/recording.
@@MusicWizard85 I've had a few suggestions for upgrades, the presonus E8 speakers are my next pick. I'm thinking of getting the sub next, it's pretty expensive as it comes around $750au
That vinyl issue is not ideal but if it gets worse then you could always either re-wrap them with 3M car wrap yourself or get them done professionally.
Can I use these speakers for Karaeoke? I have a mixer but no amps or receivers and those massive powered 300+ watts speakers from costco are too big for me so Im hoping these would be ok for Kareoke connected to a mixer
Rear settings may be off. I have them as well and they sound fantastic. Flat=exactly as it was made without enhancing. If the music is mixed right you don't need enhances. Big diff is set to -10 and not +4.

I use the 306P MKII with a X1622 USB Behringer Mixer. For me that system works perfect together in case of the Mixers EQ. :-)

Brilliant! Enjoy
@@GarrettMusic1 Thank you. How are they holding up for you sound wise? Have you felt the need to upgrade or are they enough?

@@BroodXindustrial thank you! You too 🙏
Does it need a DAC if I use a MIC?
What is the name of the speaker stands?
The speaker pop your talking about, doesn’t all or most studio monitors do that, how do you know it’s not your audio interface poping when turning on
What audio interface do you use or recommend?
