The same exact thing is happening in Angola. I don't know about in the Gambia but in Angola the Chinese are well connected. That's how they manage to literally drag all the fish out without considering the breeding season or whatever!

Our coastal fishing areas are being taken and destroyed by Chinese fish mill factories, Kartong, Gunjur, and sanyang. the government, departments, Fisheries and Trade are In cohort. It’s very sad our own government is not listening to the predicaments of the Gambians. Brother, you have spoken well. Fish used to be very cheap and affordable source of protein for the poor who cannot afford meat every now and then. the bonga fish/yellowtail mullet fish ( Chaloo) was once upon the time most cheapest fish and affordable. Now the price is skyrocketing due to presence of the fish mill factories.
Over our fish stocks is depleting by foreign trawlers, exacerbated by the presence of these Chinese fish mill factories. Like the brother in years to come fish will be extremely expensive for the average Gambia to buy.
WHY IS IT THAT THIS GOVERNMENT IS SELLING OUR RESOURCES OUT AT THE EXPENSE OF OUR COMING GENERATIONS,

Someone built that market pier and road there in Bakau. After it was built, they all used it, but no one did any repairs to any of the facilities.
Not told in this story is who built the place and why any of these people complaining about the facilities don't perform the required maintenance so that it is attractive for a fishing fleet to land fish and they don't have to depend on the Chinese.

China has depleted their rivers of fishing. China is taking over parts of Africa that would allow them b offering money to governments. China offers African countries money for road improvements and education, and African beholding to them and can't pay back debts. China takes over if government allows. Bambi, Tanzania. Tanzania has a Chinatown with Chinese businesses out pricing local African vendors. botswana is allowing Chinese to come in as well, buying property because China is oer croweded
