    I remember when the job site radio was the old "wood grain" Panasonic alarm clock radio the blinked 12:00 and had a coat hanger for an antenna!

    I bought the DeWalt ToughSystem stereo after watching this. It won't see anywhere near this level of abuse in my garage, but it sounds great. Love it.

    To be fair I own the Milwaukee radio that you tested first. And I launched it across my garage while having a childish temper tantrum. the garage is 30 feet I threw it from the door to the back wall, bounced it off the back wall and onto the concrete. It works perfectly a year or so later.

    Radios aren't meant to be dropped but they should have good sound quality, the Milwaukee has the best audio and reception plus all the features therefore I don't see why people are complaining

      @@Farmall450 exactly! The the 3 foot fall is actually the most probable scenario for me. If it can fall that far it's not worth it to me. I bought the Ryobi for price and it matches all my other stuff. Sounds good too.

    Awesome tool fight guys! Well worth the wait. I've got the PB360D without Bluetooth and it is an awesome radio. I wishe I had the Bluetooth but an audio jack takes care of that. I'd love to try out the Dewalt but my Bosch will never die and sounds awesome so alas....no replacement. The problem I have had repeatedly with Milwaukee, 4 duds. All new tools. Dewalt has really proven their mettle again! Bosch? Well Bosch is like Dewalt to me. Slow to introduce the new stuff but when it pops out it is high quality. The Ridgid was amazing. Proof again that they make solid tools. Awesome video and thanks for taking the time to do this one!

A good find for anyone that uses their 18V tools. Just add an el cheapo Bluetooth to line in adapter and your set.

    I got the Ryobi (already having their power tools and 3 batteries). The radio was on promo - $129 Canadian ($100 US) with a FREE battery (2Ah) and charger bundle. Great radio for sound quality but the buttons on the top are hard to use (and it does have bass and treble adjustment) but no protection for phone while charging and will only fit 5.5" and smaller.

  • @Vintagesoundz14
    @Vintagesoundz14 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    the dewalt tough system is actually 5 speakers not 6 , it has 4 main speakers and then one subwoofer on the base, there is an auxliary bass radiator on the base that is just a tuned diaphragm that only moves at certain bass frequencies to give a deeper bass, it doesnt have a voice coil or magnet.If you open it up you will see it doesnt have the basket, voice coil or magnet that the subwoofer next to it has.

    Awesome review. Already planned to get the DWST08810 for my growing 20v collection, but it was good to see how durable it was and how many people (not just this video) rave about the sound quality. I've started clearing out old stereo equipment because of that, and use it in my office during the day now. I see mine has a foam block on the battery door to keep it from coming loose, but I'm considering trying glue or epoxy to build up a lip for the battery clip anyway for a bit better fit. After the water test I won't worry about putting it out next to the pool for my kids either!

  • @breeze787
    @breeze787 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    55' drop was a ridiculous test! Hell the drop test from the loader from about 12' was ridiculous. Job sites have these radios on the ground or sitting on the floor. Now if you had thrown them off the back of a truck as the truck was going 55 miles per hour that would be a worthy test. I can see that happening.

    • @breeze787
      @breeze787 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Or better yet set a bundle of 2x4'x8's on the radio. Another endurance test is drop from 25' or a 2 story house a pack of roofing shingles on the radios.

    I think a tool fight between some lower priced, home owner tools would be great! A lot of the tool brands here were contractor grade tool brands. I'd love to see a tool battle of impact driver, drill driver, circular saw, recip saw, and radio from brands Porter Cable, Kobalt, Hitachi, Chicago Electric (Harbor Freight brand), Craftsmen, Black & Decker, Ryobi, Rigid, and Skil. :)

    It would of been nice if you guys plugged in the wires that came loose on the Milwaukee radio at the end, just to see if it still would have worked. It appears it would have, seeing the logic board was on one side of the radio (still intact) while the power supply was on the other side of the radio (still intact). It's also pretty amazing how much that radio cost, when it appears that the inside of the radio has more space than parts.

    Why would you use an FM modulator for an audio quality test?

    • @NoRegrets187
      @NoRegrets187 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      eag 8999 because of using music from bands or artists legally, so they modulated their own intro song. It got the point across.

      They could have used an aux cord.

      eag 8999 then how would he violently flip it off the toolbox while it still played music?

      you would have to connect to each Bluetooth disconnect plus pin setup FM modulator set an done works on all not all have Bluetooth as well so they can test sound quality not all have aux

      They could test the music after it's dropped.

    Which of these setups will charge a cellphone/tablet via the built in USB port, while the radio is running off of battery power, and not only when it's plugged into a 120v outlet?

    I'm a dewalt guy so obviously I have the 20v dewalt radio. One thing I hate about it is you can't listen to music while charging a battery. Something with the frequency causes static to come through the speakers. Wish I had known this before I made the purchase

    would have made more sense to do the water test before the fall test. statistically speaking, there is a far greater chance during general use that a stereo will get wet long before it falls several stories. willing to bet the consumer cares many many times more about water ingression than borderline unrealistic falls

    I had the Bosch cube, it had horrible reception, we were always trying to hook wire to it, never helped, one day I decided to take it apart and install a better antenna, the factory antenna is not even connected to anything on the inside. It is several inches away from anything that could possibly even pick up anything off the antenna. The antenna on the Bosch is a dummy antenna. Its just for looks.
