- Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you put every single Suikoden veteran in the party when you first meet up with McDohl in Banner Village? Well, it would probably be something like this...
Seriously, I was surprised how few of the returning characters were actually combat characters. It seemed like more until I did this video, you know?

Admit it. Recruiting McDohl in Suikoden 2 is the greatest moment in Suikoden history. We all completed this quest so proudly back then, it was like winning a championship or something. McDohl is so badass and very powerful.

I really like how Viktor and Flik tell him that they are still alive and manage to get out of that place.. srsly, that is one thing that I really worried about when playing s1. I'm like 'NO! YOU BOTH GET THE HELL OUT OF THIS PLACE NOW, NOT LATER. I WILL BE WILLING TO DRAG YOU IF I HAVE TO!' ;A;
do you know if bith have more lines with McDohl afterwards when recruited etc.? Otherwise this Oh hey, we are alive too, and he's Riou and that's it-stuff is a bit... weak in total :/
***** i dont think so, this is by far the only possible communication they have with mcDohl, since the MC is now Riou, and McDohl just exceptional character. Sad, I wanted them to have more lines with him too. But yeh, this comment is old. :D
McDohl will forever be Suikoden's no. 1 hero. Made the biggest sacrifice of taking his father's life.

@Jin Lee The game came out several decades ago. Maybe you should think before watching spoiler videos. BTW there are a few characters in part 2 that you have to choose between. You can use gameshark to get all of them.
I love the protagonist riou of suikoden2. Too bad they did not even made a cameo of him in suikoden 3. Heck even a non recruit able riou event would please a suiko2 fan like me so much.
McDohl must having some stiff neck and kinda confused how does Riou bring up so many people in his party.
Tir! A boy with a poor life losing his father, bestfriend, and gremio too if we can't complete the 108 stars of destiny. Suikoden was the best game ever! Suikoden, Suikoden 2, Suikoden 3, and 4, all of them shows us a great storyline (especially 1 & 2). I don't like suikoden 5/V too much but still playin it, haven't complete it yet. I wished someone made a cinema of this game, i would love to watch it
i enjoyed suikoden 5 more than 4 thats for sure
5 has the closest battle mechanics as 2. (except the formation) plus the war battle is awesome
5 is actually second the best after 2, cause it's so similar to the original (1&2)
Yea i like 5 aswell but i havnt gotten into 3 and 4 saw a little bit of the gameplay of 3 though looks very different and a bit confusing to me
Suikoden II > Suikoden V > Suikoden I > Suikoden III > Suikoden IV
I like that they added this bit, among many others. Too bad that other games don't have such an interaction, not only in this series, but also in RPG series in general.
If your looking for something similar your should check out the legend of heroes series like legend of heroes trails in the sky. 😉it will be your number 2 favorite jrpgs or even 1

Or their just more excited to see Tir/TcDohl. :? Although I think there was a moment in I about his (or his father Teo's) servants caring more about their master(s) than each other, that one guy got unnoticed. XD
Maybe they only meet gremio for a while due to gremio death in milich's castle
It was harder to get the ending to have gremio here so they figured to just not exhaust all that time into it
shit is A1 storytelling and world building. Luc's little tidbit at the end foreshadowing the next game. THe fact that Georg's profile mentions Grasslands, SME, and Falena, again foreshadowing, I miss this..... I miss this so much
Wow, what a blast from the past! Bringing together all the Suikoden veterans in one party for the meeting with McDohl in Banner Village is such a cool idea. The nostalgia is real with this video. Great job capturing the essence of the game and the characters. Keep up the awesome content! 👍

in fact, you don't even need the 108 stars in Suikoden 1 to have Tir in Suikoden 2. I just loaded the data and the only difference is that Gremio isn't here (of course since he's dead), the girl from the inn takes his place.
When you read the Suikoden 3 manga and now see this scene, it made sense on why Luc may have said that.

@1tiercel 5 is prequel of 1 tho, 45123 the timeline goes like that. 4 happen around 150 years before 1, 5 happen around 10 years before 1 (cmiiw)

Pretty sure that in Suiko3 people would've preferred to see Riou instead.
In Suiko4 he wasn't even born, and in Suiko5 he was a little kid, he didn't even have the Soul Eater yet.

I beat this game several times back in the day and I don't recall that many characters coming to greet Tir. I must have missed something or I'm starting to forget in my old age, lol.

Where did Tir come from? He never had a default name so he was always just called McDohl. Is this from the PSN version?

Kamijo Touma The "Tir" name is from the Suikoden Radio drama, if I am not mistaken. So everybody pretty much accept it as his canon name, like "Riou" as the name of the hero of Suikoden II. I always thought it's fitting, since it's the name of a norse god of war.
IIRC its a visual game not a radio drama.

Wait! You can bring Flik to meet him? I always though that he should meet him ASAP after you beat Lucca. Flik will absent until you beat Neclord and return to Muse. I tried to meet McDohl after beat Neclord and he's nowhere to be seen.
There is no limit of time to get him.
how can you get kasumi and valeria? When i was play sukioden 2 a long time ago, i just choose one of them
he save states when Riou have to choose valk/kasumi. if you use epxse at android/pc
i was totally confused how far that all from suikoden 1 able u to brought all to accompany riou coz as far as i know it's only limited by 6 characters.. besides u brought valeria & kasumi which is as far as i know ur only choice is to choose between the two.. 😉

Hybrid OP in suikoden 2 with free rune slot beside Soul Eater (Tir's rune affinity are A for Darkness but he already have the higher and older one, Soul Eater. And B for non-elemental/Water/Flowing)
I always wanted to do this... I've beaten pt 1 100% a few times... my PS1 disc of pt 2 got damaged, and it seems there's no way to do it through any of the other releases besides the Japanese-only PSP version of 1 and 2

They're introducing the main character to him. The man fishing is the main character on the 1st game. Those characters that talks appeared on the first game; that's why they knew him.

Meeting McDohl is like meeting Red in gold/silver. You remember the journey from before and know you’re in the presence of a legend that you were part of. Straight chills.

is it just me, or was I expecting more of a surprise from Tir or Gremio at finding out Viktor and Flik were still alive, they were together for a long time, and then they meet up again, and it's like "hey, i'm still alive, how you doing?" Kinda wanted a little more of a reunion scene like, when Gremio was resurrected.
David Captain Charisma Ryan Perhaps they were like: "Yeeaaah, we kinda figured... Both of you are pretty badass, plus rumors of someone dressed in blue and a bear-looking man in a fort circulated years later, so we deduced the obvious."
But I agre that there should've been more of a "OH SHIT!!!" with both S1 originals and Tir as well, plus no portrait Pictures of most of the originals in Gregminister?? GTFOMinor pet peeves, but still.
SolidMike84 yeah I didn't like that either, we see so many people from the 1st one return, and Cleo, Pahn, Varkas, Marie and Sarah don't get a portrait? Thought that was kind of sad. I agree that the rumors were probably why Tir and everyone else wasn't surprised, however Vik and Flik left without saying goodbye to anyone, they probably thought the two were dead. Still an awesome series though

To live life as Tir McDohl did is to live a lifetime of unfair burden thrust upon a young teenage kid. Knowing everything he had to give up on for the sake of his country is overwhelming to consider.

My question is if you bring her to Gregminster, why would she tell Tir that it had been 3 years since she had last seen him if she had really gone to visit him in Banner Village?
@1tiercel Even then, why ask to go the Banner when he's clearly in Gregminster?
@1tiercel After doing the sidequest, he stays there for at least until the end of the game, as you have to go there to put him into your party
@1tiercel Of course, but after the sidequest he wanted to stay in Gregminster for a while because it was his home. It's assumed after the game that they eventually depart Gregminster and continue to live in isolation
That's great! I never got to see this scene in my gameplays even though I completed the game like 15 times, I was never able to load my Suikoden I data! Thanks for sharing!

Soul Eater not only makes the bearer have a shorter life span but also attract death to people who near him
Rune of Beginning is fated to live in the war and tragedies with the loved ones
Both runes are indeed very powerful but also cursed

Quite an annoying bug that the game changed the first letter in McDohl's name to the first letter of the name you gave him in Suikoden 1. He was always BcDohl for me.

I restarted the 1st game and used “Mr.Tir” to get it to be McDohl with an, initially, accurate” enough name

all that happen in suiko 1 event is caused by windy want to get soul eater.
tir feels soul eater is the power that should never been in people hand's, so he just secluding himself from everybody, pretty much like how ted doing over 400 years.

Leknaat opened a Gate to the World of the Dead and brought him back at the end of Suikoden I, provided you'd collected all the 108 Stars of Destiny prior to the last battle. If you didn't revive him, I believe Ellie (the little red head from the inn) takes Gremio's place, but don't quote me.
