Anyone who understands anything about carbon fiber could have told you that being struck by lighting is a no go, or that being left out to the elements for 7 months is a no go, or that the entire application of carbon fiber in this way was a no go from the get go. It's not meant for compression duty, ever. This thing was bound to fail no matter how well engineered or how meticulously cared for. Why any sane engineer would stay on with the company is beyond me, I guess the pay must have been too good to pass up.
I could see a very limited use for carbon fiber composites in deep sea applications: a single use item like a torpedo. Given the no doubt astronomical unit cost and the high level of training of even the lowest rank crewman on a nuclear sub, the torpedos will be well cared for. In the event of a “hot” conflict the USN isn’t planning to reuse any “warshots.”
I e been following this case for so long it’s kind of bothering me to my soul they all need to be held accountable they all knew what was going on he had agreement letters for every person that stated you come you might not make it back

It almost feel like this was intentional... How could you screw up so bad on something so basic and standardized like inspections? It just doesn't make any sense... Basic rule of safety, DO NOT CUT CORNERS...

Just wanted to ask, although the material was not suitable for that depth, shouldn't Oceangate have periodically replaced the crew section after every few dives. And also why didnt the people making the crew section warn them it wasn't a good choice.
There was at least one engineer that stated this safety issue and was let go. Anyone that pointed out glaring problems with the design was pushed out of the company. And replacing that is basically like saying you need a brand new sub after every couple dives.
why so dodgy? oh right his career at stake. anyways just ask him in simpler terms. what did this x passenger do on the sub. what did stocken rush do. is piloting the only thing he did.
Soo where’s the money those passengers paid, the death payment? That money needs to be taken back from ocean gate and given to the families of the deceased. Also, as that fatal day was commencing, ocean gate physically saw Stockton and the passengers prepare for the dive, why wasn’t he stopped then?
Well not of anything important. They said they found remains but they didnt specify what. Im morbidly curious. People in all of human history have rarely imploded.
No they didnt say that. You can see them lifting pieces of this sardine can from the ocean and tail/window were pretty much in one piece. The part where people were in were imploded and fully destroyed. Alltho they lifted also piece of squeezed outer shell from that capin part. Anyways nothing else was left and nothing from human remains because probably the water pressure broke them into thousand pieces
There was nothing left of the pressure hull aside from the titanium end caps and rings. The outer fiberglass covering also was partly intact, especially the back section that was not surrounding the pressure hull. The pressure hull is the part that passengers sit inside. That is the part that was made from carbon fiber and likely it is just little tiny splintered pieces floating around the ocean.
it amazes me how people put soo much faith in everything these days without giving it a second thought. The submarine could have been made from toilet paper but that wouldnt matter bcause ...."WHOA, Its a submarine that has an xbox Controller!! what could go wrong!?!?!?!?

That's just Tym Catterson. He's highly intelligent, but a bit awkward and introverted. Catterson had no role in the engineering, development, or construction of the Titan submersible. He was just a consultant and worked as a support vessel contractor during dive operations. On the morning of the dive that ended in catastrophic fatal implosion of Titan, Tym Catterson was working as a platform operator and safety diver. Lastly, like just about everyone else that had any audience with Stockton Rush, Catterson told Rush several times that he had deep concerns about Titan, and questioned its viability and safety. Like all the rest, he was simply brushed aside by Stockton Rush. Tym Catterson holds no guilt in this disaster. The person that holds by far the most, if not all....Stockton Rush.

That thing was not even docked somewhere and covered.. it was just chilling in the parking lot being weathered to heck! Despicable!
They kept it outside for months, you don’t even do that with a lawn mower lol
They probably covered it in a tarp & bungee cords from harbor freight.

Unenclosed compression duty is absolutely a correct use of carbon fibre. I am tired of armchair experts.
Oh yea, that’s when they knew right away that it imploded and left everyone thinking they were alive for days and had limited time. F liars
yup milked the story till the last second. and every single news source did it. I've been saying that ever sense they reported banging noises.

so idiotic of the media literally posting how much air they had left. believe it was only CNN
