I’m not so into the Dystopian Wars setting, but the quality of these plastics does make it feel very tempting. Seriously daunting painting challenge! I went in on Mantic Epic Warpath, so that will be my very first try of epic scale despite playing miniature games since I was a young kid. Great overview as always Peter. Love that you give your honest opinion despite the fact that the set was provided for free! Authenticity matters and I’m glad some companies are okay with that and willing to support honest creators.
Painting epic scale can be daunting, I agree. More than ever before you have to keep in mind the overall effect and not obsess too much with fine details, otherwise you'll drive yourself nuts. Oh, and I'd never deal with a company who couldn't take a bit of constructive criticism. I've not here to shill products, I'm here to bring my 46 years of gaming experience to telling you about them and share my passion for tabletop gaming.
Been waiting years to see this one! I know Dystopian Wars is a pretty crunchy system (lots of special rules, cards, and complexities to keep in mind as the game plays) with fantastic models - I'll be curious to hear how this compares when you get a chance to play, Peter!
How would you compare the game to Legions Imperialis? The figures look bigger and chunkier. Nice terrain. I do like the Horus Heresy ‘history’ and IP though.
I primarily enjoy the painting (and photography) of the hobby, so Epic scale hasn't appealed to me so much, but I'd be curious to watch a comparison between this, Legions Imperialis and Epic Warpath when it comes out in terms of fun gameplay and value for money. Cheers!
Now this has me interested, the site is a bit light on whats to come, here's hoping they'll do scenery thats themed for each fraction... maybe thats a bit much but it would look so cool.
My wife is going to divorce me if I get this...but so want the crown faction. I collect legion Imperialis and even though I like that game this does seem to play better

those tiny soldiers have a superb detail for the scale.
Yeah, the more I look at them the more I appreciate them. They're painting up nicely.

I've read the through the rules once and they're very different, and less crunchy, than the DW ones. More soon!
I would love a painting tutorial for the terrain! You made them look amazing!
I've done lots of terrain painting in the past - have a look through my old videos for tips.
I hope a re-release of Firestorm Armada happens. SOON.
That was a good game, I had the starter set and painted it up.

@@davidwasilewski I'll explore such things in a future video when I've had time to get to know the game.
These are bigger than legions minis. Human Legion minis are around 6 or 7mm
@@Magmaxyz Yep, I mention they're larger than 6mm Legions Imperialis scale. 10mm I believe.

It would be - little themed cities! Anyway, stay tuned, I'll have more about the game to come.
I didn't enjoy painting Flames of War 15mm figures. I can't imagine painting these!?
Epic scale figures can be a bit of a chore to paint, especially if you get hung up on the detail. But they look amazing en bloc once done!

I'm sure you can work out a mutually beneficial compromise like two intelligent adults! 🤣
