Such a beautiful, refreshing, simple and quite professionally woven vicarious experience you have given us. Thank you for putting this together and posting. It inspires me in my ship videoing.
Thanks for sharing this great video! Wonderful impressions of the transatlantic crossing and a professional camera handling gives your video a special touch! I'm a big fan of the RMS Queen Mary in Long Beach and I'm dreaming of an atlantic crossing on the QM2.
Nice to see a good video with proper soundtrack rather than the godawful _muzak_ that so many TH-cam videos have. There’s nothing wrong with silence or real sounds in any videos.
totally awesome. No crowds, no bullshit, no bums in sandals and shorts. No kids. No idiots on waterslides. Now, this is what being at sea is all about. And no goddamn music or narration. Good video.
Dude, plenty of people in shorts and sandals are visible, some of them kids! Not that classy for such a voyage, I agree, but since they're on the QM2 I doubt they're bums.
you are so insulting calling cruisers on other cruise ships bums because they are enjoying themselves cruising is all about enjoying yourself and wearing shorts t-shirts etc, and cruising is for kids not just old people, you sound so stuck up
This is cool + I like how Southhampton gives a water spray hello to its passengers arriving. I miss England..I have such envy for these passengers. Enjoy the UK and have a Happier New Year! (2016)
I am going on that ship next October from South Hampton. I will fly to Great Britain and revisit Edinburgh where I lived back in the 1970's. I will be meeting up with a friend from Canada who wants to experience a voyage like her father did when he immagrated to Canada before WWII. I don't think his passage was so luxurious! My great aunt from Bar Harbor Maine did several crossings on the origional QM and the QE. My family sailed on the QE2. I crossed while in the Navy and on a sailing vessal.
Enjoy this very artistic and well made short. The upper decks no longer appear this clean and spacious now that is been "remastered," or as I like to say, bastardised. The sports net was moved back to block the funnel view from one side, and the front area past the glass windscreens was filled in over the Regatta bar, two sauna tubs, and shallow pool with new deck 13 cabins. I'd like to see what kind of shots you made of the interiors before they were ruined with original art being removed or destroyed. Jeez! Carnival.
Did the trip in June 18. The ship is fantastic , entertainment first class, food fit for a king ( or queen) and it’s something I could recommend to all.
I understand that at her recent refit more cabins were added- bad move. The only real liner operating today (far superior to those hideous cruise ships) but in many ways a pale shadow of the great ships of the 30's, original Queen Mary, Normandie, Europa, Bremen and from 1948 the original Queen Elizabeth.
No the rooms added were designed to fit in with the ship. And having been aboard Queen Mary in Long Beach, I will tell you that Queen Mary 2 is a worthy successor. And at 150,000 tonnes in no way a pale shadow of the originals
Sorry there isn't a water slide and rock climbing wall on the QM2's funnel for you and sorry to say no belly flop and hairiest chest contests.. best you stick to the cruise ships.
I'm not sure how rich someone has to be but there are many differently priced cabins on this ship. Those prices dictate what level you will travel at. Meaning, which dining room you will use and which areas of the ship you can use. The higher levels have only a couple more places on the ship that they have access to. I can recommend the sheltered cabin option as a way to save a little money yet have some outdoor space. The ship is a little bit more upscale in all levels compared to other cruise lines. For example, they discourage wearing jeans after 6pm around the ship. However, if you go from your room directly to the buffet for dinner, I think that's OK. I have sailed on her 4 times solo at Britannia level and found it to be a wonderful reminder of how cruising can be genteel but not ostentatious. I also don't feel like I've missed out on any of the higher level areas because the rest of the ship is great. It's a European crowd and I found that a delightful change of pace (I'm American). The folks are generally older but no less engaging than younger folks. And, QM2 is a master at onboard entertainment because crossing the Atlantic takes 7 days and there are no ports in between NY and Southampton on a straight crossing. You could check out the Cunard website for more information. (#notsponsored #imafan)

Hi, dave boydell, I'm not sure what hype you've heard but, technically, the QM2 is an oceanliner. Its hull is narrower and deeper and it's steel hull goes up higher than on a cruise ship. It also has a big bulbous protrusion at the bow which I believe is a unique feature to aid stability and to cut through the water. The QM2 was built to traverse the North Atlantic's tumultuous weather. I encourage you to search TH-cam for "raw footage" of QM2 and, while you'll see big waves hitting the windows and hear people oohing and ahhing, you will notice that the horizon does not move up or down nor rock. Happy Sailing!
I’m *afraid* you have more personal issues to worry about! Cunard are doing just fine, several thousand £££’s per person for a one week crossing, plus extras, bar bills, spa etc. You carry on working on your own spelling.
True, but it remains the direct seaway connection between the old world and the new world. As such it carries way more history than any Pacific route. Also, you'll find it hard to make modern day people skip a convenient fast flight over a few days to cross an ocean as it is.
Now that was a bore... 1o people on the ship and nothing going on... For the price of this boredom I can fly business class on Virgin Atlantic and save 5 days of my life!
I certainly wouldn't pay thousands of dollars to be bored either after all you go on a cruise ship as an alternative holiday/vacation and have fun, this cruise looks so boring just sitting round doing nothing much except wait around for meals
@@tonyp011 This is not a cruise ship and this wasn't a cruise. It is a trans-Atlantic Liner and it's sole purpose is to transport passengers from one side of the Atlantic Ocean to the other side.
The QM2 is not a cruise ship but an ocean liner - very different and designed to go through rough seas on a regular basis. If you want a cruise ship then book a passage on one of those floating multi-storey theme parks.

The best QM2 video I've seen. Wonderfully free of nonstop chatter, unlike most others. Looking forward to our own crossing!
Excellent! The ship was allowed to speak for herself... I loved that there was no distracting music.. Job well done!

Superb video. This is Queen Mary 2 in her original state, before any "refittings".

I have done it 3 times , tell me the amazing part .

That is why The QM2 is lousy , because of Carnival .

The food is similar to a hospital cafeteria .
Well done for making such a great video.
Fun! Was this winter? Where were all the people outdoors? Even repositioning cruises have lots of people.
Why nothing inside the ship?
Have travelled the Atlantic by sea many times on the old Canadian Pacific liners. Loved every moment.
Excellent video!
I would love to sail on the QM2.
Great video, outstanding quality...
Great video, you know what you are doing! I went westbound in may this year. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!
Treasured memories...

What was the port of disembarkation?
It is most likely, Southampton.
It is engineering marvel. May the wind be always at there backs

are the crew really that stuck up as they dont do sail away parties
They do Colonel...

what was the name of the bridge that the boat was proceeding beneath , it was close , the passengers commented on it .
Verrazano-Narrows connecting Brooklyn to Staten Island.
