A woman in pyjamas playing a man in armor: so very post-modern.
Unfortunately (or rather, fortunately) they are no longer allowed to castrate young boys to sing these roles. So be content.
Very hard to find male mezzo-sorpano voices. They had no choice but to have a woman singer.

@@connieclarke5855 Actually in this case it was almost certainly a choice. It becomes plot relevant by the end.
