my memory is bad after so many trips to Thailand but i know I was in Ao Nang in 2014, my second tripe there I think. I flew into Krabi airport. Took the bus to Ao nang. First trip I took the ferry from Phuket pier to Ao nang. beautiful motor ride as you go past small islands and out croppings. Loved the food in krabi. So many nice little restaurants up and down the main street
I love Ao Nang having been there twice. Ao Nang beach is nice and gives you access to other beaches by boat to Railey, Poda, Tup. Mor, Phi Phi and Hong Islands. Amnd oh yes, I went to Ao Nang Mosque as well

I was staying at Centara Anda Dhevi, which near by. Only a few tens of meters apart. There are a lot of eating places near your hotel. And there is a many kinds of eating places nearby. Those open taxis (sort of motorcycle) costs next to nothing and are most fun. So you get all over the ao nang very easily and cheap. Besides the obvious route to Ao Nang center I would also try Nappharathara beach. All of them can be reached easily by foot if you like walking or by those taxis. There is a video of Centera Anda Dhevi in my channel, which gives some idea about the area near your hotel. And there is also video of drive through Ao Nang - Noppharathara which will give you an idea how the open motorcycle taxi works and distances in ao nang. Drive through starts at Centara so if I understand the map correctly you may see some climpse of your hotel. First the video turns to ao nang and we drive to other end of beach then we come back and go to Noppharathara beach. In the videos you can see food sold besides the road. They are awesome. in particular banana pancakes are something everyone must try. In our first trip we waited till the last night, big mistake,
Two questions. Firstly, is it possible to go for nice morning runs say about 10km on paths, quiet roads, along the beach etc? And secondly, is it full of Russians?
I ran on the Noppharat-Thara beach. It is more stable (harder) than the main beach. There was close to my hotel, Centera Anda Dhevi. There is something like 2-2,5 km(1,3-1,5 miles) in one way so you have to run it couple times. Thara is less crowded than main beach so it is nicer in that way also. I ran in the mornings and in the evenings. In the morning the temperature is rising so in the end i preferred afternoons. And there were plenty of runners in Thara beach. But I saw some runners in the main beach also. There is a video on Noppharat Thara in my channel. You might get some idea what it is like there. There is close to Ao Nang center (maybe 2 km). Open motorcycle cabs (taxi) do not cost anything so it might be possibility even if your hotel is not that close. There are some russians but not as much as in someplaces in phukett. Probably depends on time you are in there. I think there are more russians in the end of Nopphara-Thara. But I did not hear much russian on my stay. Maybe most swedish, Finnish, German and US.
