I was in Washington, DC three weeks ago, and the trees with their leaves changing color were gorgeous. October is my favorite time of the year to visit DC.
Your personality is wonderful and your smile is beautiful. You are a beautiful person and an excellent teacher. Thank you very much for what you offer us and best wishes wonderful Catherine.
Aww my gosh ...Beautiful, simply beautiful Katherine! Not only autumn which as you probably guessed is also my fave season for all the same reasons and the feelings you told but also the way you magnificently, passionately and movingly achieved to speak about it and convey your love for autumn and Nature.Yes, I'm not going to lie, I went emotional just listening to you speaking of fall so beautifully with such passion as I can myself relate totally on every each single aspect of that marvellous season. Romantic and nostalgic.Yes, personally for me, the remembrance of my first love and my first real French kiss ;-) which once took place in autumn, shortly after the start of the school year, mid-october as I was 14. Something I guess we all probably remember with great emotion. You also evoked with insight this opposition, this duality of prodigal harvest, abundance as a gift of autumn following the season of sun, flowers and love...and the fortunately provisory 'little death of Nature' as a long upcoming phase of dormance in fact and in the waiting of a renewal. For me, as a contemplative like you and a lover of the simple things nature-related, autumn is also the season of the magic colours of which the trees and the whole nature cover, there are the lights, the morning mists, there are the fragrances of petrichor, of the earth, of humus in the forests, the acorns, chesnuts and conkers and above all the mushrooms, boletus edulis and badius, girolles, coulemelles, russules, lactarians, pieds-de-moutons (hedgehog) as I am a passionate mushroom picker. Nothing for me equals a bike ride in the autumnal countryside or a mushroom outing and this immersion in this particular atmosphere of autumn and this total tranquility, peace and plenitude of the autumnal Nature. Then back home in a comfy jumper, a little flair-up, put the kettle on for a good coffee, then cooking your harvest, and later snug as a bug in a rug (I love that one that Sabrah taught me;-). A season when I also love playing guitar still more, read a good book, read and make poetry ... What a wonderful Video Katherine. I loved all of it with all the great vocabulary, nouns and adjectives you tastefully chose: cinnamon, cosy, conkers, nostalgia, shiny gloss, crispy leaf, crimson, scarlet, ruby, gold, amber, I leave out some ...and some you made me discover such as butternut squash soup or hunker down. Thank you so much Katherine for your passion; you are so beautiful, enchanteress and were like a fairy, a true sunshine that came and pierce through this day a bit dull and greyish here today. I'm really looking forward for the continuation of this series, which you are apparently going to devote to autumn. Merci beaucoup Kate, 🙏👏👏 bisous bisous, Love 😘🌹❤❤ 🍄🥜🌱🍁🍂 ☕📖📗🔥🎹🎸
Pumpkin spice latte is one of my favourite drinks to get from a cafe! I love going for a walk in the park with a warm drink and my dog by my side! Thank you for yet another wonderful video Katherine
Hello Katharine, I really appreciate the topics on the videos as they aren't really related to classroom material. The way you present them is so unique. I have a slight impression of going back to the book "Watching the English", because the way you speak.
Missed your insights, Katharine! I absolutely resonate with the beauty of Autumn. The nostalgic hues of the trees combined with the perks of affordable travel are unbeatable. Also, congrats to your sister on her wedding! Wishing her all the love and happiness. Excited for your next video! 🍁👜"
Thank you, Katharine, love your video, love autumn, acorns, coffee, leaves and everything you are talking about. That's what make us people feel so alike even though leaving so far away and being pressed by political issues today...❤
Hi, Katharine, what nostalgia means for me is that I used to live around Reading & Windsor in England so when you teach us every Friday, I feel that I am in the UK and talking to face to face one native speaker that makes me happy & stunning as well! Cheers for that..! 🙇🙇🙇
Don't have to apologize at all. When you have to take a break take it. Life is just not about work. Life is about everything. And like you I also studied English Literature. The only difference is that your English is superb. British english is remarkable. While my English is worse than illiterate people. Your channel is remarkable. Astounding. This channel has really inspired me to study english better. Thanks a lot.
Hola. Katharine. Siempre is fructífero y rrelevante aprender oportunamente de su imprescindibles sesiones. cada véz aprendo un poco más de la cultura británica. Felicitaciones. Eres muy agradable. Muchas gracias por enseñarnos.
Hello, Katharine, very glad to know your channel which is very informative and practical for me who's interested in English. I like the way you describe the expressions comprehensively! Thank you for all of your posts!
I'm watching you and I wonder how is it possible that we are so similar? I can relate 100% with all that you said about nostalgia, watching the same film for a hundredth time just because of that cosy feeling. And You've got mail is definitely one of my favourite films ever! I still remember the crunchy leaves under my feet as I was walking hand in hand with my dad to school and sometimes certain smells bring to life vivid memories. I was born and brought up in Romania and we have a lot of poetry that has autumn themes. I am just saying all these things as sometimes it feels frustrating when my friends or even my husband can't understand how I can have such vivid memories just by stepping on a leaf or sniffing the air in autumn but there are people like that! And this video confirms it's not just me 😁
Your narration and citation of atmosphere there in U.k.makes me feel eager and compassionate to live there at least once in a life time may be at least a decade.
Autumn is my favourite season ever. I love the feeling of leaving the harsh summer times it's also mentally feeling me relieved 🫂 autumn is either a cosy moment with someone you love or someone you have to leave behind. Autumn feels like home to me where I can satisfy myself with serenity:) thank you Katherine I really enjoyed this lesson I love you so much! I'm from Turkey, and my major is English Literature as well ! The moment I saw your video about Jane Austen I told myself she's definitely graduated from this major I'm intuitive 😂💖 can't wait for new videos 💗
"Ooh let me just step on that leaf - it's so crispy!" Yes I can relate to that although you can't help dreading there might be a dog's turd hidden in there 🤭🤣
The equinox of Autumn start on 21th September and finish on 22th December with Winter Solstice, here in the UK, in China, or Canada, or whatever you are.. 1st September is still Summer no matter the weather. Cheers, i love your channel, you are super cute ❤
Dear Kat , I ve missed you and was worried about your wellbeing and I m glad you 're OK , whilst meeting at your cosy internet corner . In autumn we stock up for the winter - buying canned food and warm winter clothes , like overcoats , thick woolen socks , gloves and beanies. You ve a lovely warm autumn jumper in this video, I love it . This week however , it was still warm here in the Netherlands , felt like September , and trees are still green , but public transport buses are packed to capacity here again in the Netherlands , now we ve stopped biking because of the rain. I m starting already to rehearse Chrismas songs on the piano , inside , where it s warm and dry. warm K xx
