I've really enjoyed this album. Parts of it remind me of The Xenon Codex and the guitar playing of Hew Lloyd Langton. Dave Brock sounds a liitle frail on this album, and this, taken with some of the themes explored here, gives the work a sort of thoughtful, retrospective and melancholic vibe. Definitely some classic Hawkwind on display here.
Great review once again Phil. I have seen Hawkwind live in concert more times than any other group. It can be a real roller coaster ride with their albums, can't it?
Good stuff Phil. I actually bought this album on spec at my local HMV yesterday. Very pleased that I did as I think it is a terrific album. Hawkwind are on such a creative roll at the moment.
Phil, thanks for the review. Had my copy for a couple of weeks now, on first listen I was a tad disappointed but it is a definite grower. Recommend to any fan. Regards
Hawkwind are like a red wine great years and not so good years! At the moment we are in a fantastic purple patch! I agree with you Phil I thought oops until track 3 you are spot on! Excellent album! Give it a chance!😊
Thanks Phil. I love this album. I love the softer, melodic stuff - the blend with the typical Hawkwind material certainly works with me. I think the cover is great too. Another gem from the masters of the universe - can't wait to see them next year at the barbican!
More new music for me, I checked out a track on youtube and like it. I wonder if I may suggest or ask if you have ever listened to Nightwish with lead singer Floor Jansen? They call it symphonic metal but they take it to another level. The Platinum standard show by them is 2013 Wacken open air. Pick any track but one of the best performances I have veer seen 9and that includes Ritchie) is called "Ghost Love Score" and it is the most viewed music reaction on youtube. That piece and a song called "Endlessness" is all you need to hear to understand the complexity and soaring brilliance of this group. Just my opinion though at 69. thanks Phil
I purchased this on Bandcamp, but this week in my house it's all Uriah Heep and Saxon in preparation for the show on Sunday! The new Hawkwind will get my attention next week! 😊
Not as strong as the previous release and seems that some of the material may have been from the same sessions as 'Till i Found You' reprises a track from the previous album. Lacks the inventiveness and the instrumental tracks add little with the notable exception of Brock's Re-generate. The final track also seems a little 'unfinished'. Still a good release and always welcome from this legendary band. BTW i wish the front and back covers were swapped over.

Hawkwind in name only these days, shame really but they’ve been a fantastic band over the years but they can’t go on forever.

I agree, Phil, this release takes a bit longer to sink in, but I can tell it will be a fave in a short while. Thanks for the review !
