    It will be more useful if you demonstrate the tenses in an sequencing order of event. Eg, past perfect > simple past > present simple/continuous > simple future/continuous > future perfect > future perfect continuous...etc. Non-natives have less problem with conjugating verbs but using them correctly.

    Categorized by talking TENSE, there are two groups of English web teachers.
    Group A say English has totally 12 tenses including Present (Simple, Continuous, Perfect, and Perfect Continuous), Past (Simple, Continuous, Perfect, and Perfect Continuous) and Future (Simple, Continuous, Perfect, and Perfect Continuous).
    Group B say English has totally 16 tenses, other than the above 12 tenses, there are Conditional (Simple, Continuous, Perfect, and Perfect Continuous).
    I have checked Wikipedia, it says English has 12 tenses, and “Conditional” is one of moods.
    I agree with Wikipedia. Firstly, TENSE describes TIME, “Conditional” is not TIME. Secondly, if we place “Conditional / Virtuality” in the PAST to form 4 additional tenses, there is no reason why we cannot place “Conditional / Virtuality” in the FUTURE to form another 4 additional tenses.
    Anyone has comment? Welcome.

    • @Godongo
      @Godongo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      It isn't saying what is done, but what will happen.
      Future Continuous:
      For example, if you enroll in an English course, you are not currently studying English, but you WILL BE studying. So, if it starts on Monday, you will have been studying on Tuesady. Any date after the start date in the future!
      Basically an action that will be done in the future, but currently isn't done, or isn't yet complete
      A good example would be like this:
      You enrolled in yoga two years ago. So, you could say, "I will have attended yoga for three years in a year.
      It is basically something you will do at a later date.
      Examples:
      You pick up a fitness program.
      "I will have been attending for three years nect Saturday."
      You will have attended it for an amount of time.
      Future Perfect:
      This is a project that you will have completed, but it isn't completed in the present.
      Example:
      Your teacher tells you that she needs all your homework in by the next Monday.
      You plan to have finished the homework when Monday comes, so you say, "I will have finished the homework on Monday."
      In the future tenses, you are speaking about the future.
      Future simple is something that you will do, but it is one action.
      Future Perfect is an action you will have completed an action before a date further in the future [If it's Saturday, and you plan to feed the dog on Monday, you will have fed the dog on Monday.
      Future continuous is an action that you will continue to do at a later date. Such as yoga or something that isn't a single action, but you will have been doing it for sometime.
      I hope this helps, God bless!!❤🙏

    • @7ESLLearningEnglish
      @7ESLLearningEnglish  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. In the first one, we use the simple present for things that are part of a routine. Mondays I go to the zoo with my son. When you're asking "What comes next?" you are saying there is a fixed procedure, and you are asking what come next in that procedure. It's like a routine.
      "What happened?" is a basic simple past. An action or event occurred in the past and is now over. No helping verb is needed.

    • @rashidbhatti1987
      @rashidbhatti1987 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks sir for ur kind reply. But I'm still unable to grasp it. As a grammar rule we are taught in direct speech we use helping verbs in interrogative sentences. This is what making confusion for me.

    Your present simple tense is a bit misleading. Present simple tense usually describes habits, routines or something that is always the case. Therefore, the line at the top better explains it than the diamond shape. Past and future simple tenses usually describe events. Therefore, the diamond shapes are appropriate to represent them, but not the line at the top. Practically speaking, to describe an event in the present, present continuous is more appropriate than present simple. This makes the system more confusing, but that is just the way it is.

    What is the meaning of "with non-progressive". And in the sentence "he had a small cottage in the wood",why not replace the word "had" with "has".

    In present perfect tense why didn't you used ' been' in this sentence . I have already lost a job

      'Been' indicates continuity - that the action is done continuously(nonstop) over a period OR that the action is done repeatedly over a period.
      In your sentence, losing a job can only happen once and at one instant. You cannot lose the same job repeatedly. You cannot lose a job nonstop over a period of time. So using 'been' doesn't really make sense in your sentence. Hope this helps :)

    I remember the word "shall" had been considered old-fashioned to many people. This is because the listener think the speaker is singing when they could have been talking.
