- The title says it all, which is entirely based on gameplay, cutscenes, and from the in game journals within the game. I have some theories about Sampson and the abandoned church in the game, but they are never outright confirmed within the game.

Having played the DS version via emulator, here are a few details revealed from that version:
- In a radio conversation between Cole and Samson, Cole accuses him of having trained the bear that killed the campers. On the face of it, this could just be a knee jerk reaction from years of resentment Cole built up toward his father, especially since in that version of events, the bear is responsible for killing Adrian instead of the wolves. However, it should be noted that in the console version, Samson was shocked to find out that a grizzly had been responsible for killing the campers. This lends a lot more credibility to the theory of Samson being the one controlling the animals.
- In the final level, when Cole reaches Samson’s lodge, he spots a wooden pole with human bones lying around. Inspecting them, he deduces that the victims had been sacrificed to be devoured by hyenas. Remember, after Adrian’s death, Samson went into seclusion at his hunting lodge. I suspect that’s what he had been doing for those ten years before Cole arrived.
All of this, coupled with Mbeki’s dialogue of Samson’s blood being cursed, and Samson’s regret over Adrian dying, leads me to conclude with certainty that Samson was indeed the Kaaftar all along.
This is actually incredible evidence to buster my theory of him being a psychopath, but also bringing up the possibility that Sampson got bit by the Kaftar originally in 1982 thus becoming a "were-hyena" himself. The only thing that would make this even better is if you had video proof of it. If you can, find some way to play through the game again and get that footage!
@ Just finished recording the footage. I should have the whole thing up by tomorrow
@@screamerlover5781 Sweet!
@@SmaugtheDMIt’s already up in case you didn’t know
@screamerlover5781 Thank you
Hey I've got to say it's really nice to see someone explaining the story for these games. I'd love to see a coverage of the respective stories in Dangerous Hunts 2013 and maybe Shadows of Katmai.
When the campers are attacked by the wolves, I always thought that it was Samson blowing the whistle to encourage the wolves to attack and kill the campers for trespassing when the grizzly answered the call instead. That’s why he’s so surprised when Adrian says a bear did it. He was expecting the wolves he thought he called.
Huh, you might be right on. However the Keeluts still came in and killed the last guy, due to him being alone in the woods and Sampson using the whistle that night.
@@SmaugtheDM I wouldn’t be surprised if they were still in the area
The last camper also says he hears a sound almost like a whistle. We never see the keeluts make that noise, but Samson would have the whistle in his possession at this time.
Thank god Ive been dying to see a story explained video on this game! I might try and do a reaction to this
Please do.
@@SmaugtheDMmy reaction is currently uploading right now
the kaftar was one of the most terrifying boss ive ever seen in any game this whole video gave me chills holy
Thank you for covering this game! Ive been waiting for so long for someone to give an explaination for the events and cryptids inside the series. There was also an IOS release of this game that I played as a kid, I think its the same as the Nintendo release. It no longer exists and I can't find footage of it anywhere.
Fantastic explained video and I love Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts 2011 and I love the Cabela’s video games!😁 Please make Cabela’s hunting video games story videos and it’s been five years since we spoke because you’re one of my subscribers.😊
I don't think it's a hot take to say Samson was a psychopath. Dude's straight up insane.
I mean he basically brainwashed his sons to be hunters and his hubris got his son killed, so I agree.
I used to play this game Along with 2013 on the Wii back in the days. I also even used the Top Shot Elite that would Simulate myself as a Hunter.
For the story, I don’t understand why they took 25% of the game in North America and the Rest of the game after The Grizzly Bear boss in Africa 10 years after. But Overall, this is the most darkest game in the series by far especially having 3 Onscreen Deaths, especially Cole’s Brother getting Devoured by Black Wolves after the Bear Fight while Cole Watches Helplessly. That Scene Scared me when I was 10. As I was playing it, I never knew the fact that The Kaftar is not a Real Animal but a Shapeshifter from a Man to Beast making me to believe that it’s just a Myth. I never knew that the whistle in the caverns is also the same one that Cole Heard while being attacked by a Wolf before encountering the Bear at the end of Full Moon and when Adrian Heard it before The Wolves devoured him at the end of Grizzly Hunt. Something tells me that Adrian Die by the Wolves but not Cole because when Cole was being attacked, the whistle sound which caused the wolves to stop and retreated hinting that someone wanted the wolves to attack someone else but not Cole. Now as an adult, I never knew for that fact that Samson was The Kaftar all along which makes sense since the attack back in 1982 and it make sense since he lost one his eye pupil. I also Didn’t know that he was also the one responsible for Adrian’s Death at the end of Grizzly Hunt which is why He Sounded the whistle to make the wolves retreat from Cole.
This is unrelated but I used to watch your dinosaur series and I’m so glad I was able to find you again
Thank you! It's still good to see people finding my again and liking my older content.
I love this game so much
I think the kaftar is a modified Dinocrocuta
But imagine if the Kaftar fought the black lions
I'm down for more stories too
but for your theory at the end the game implied that samson was the kafter the whole time, mbeki said that kaftar ate samson’s heart at the beginning of the game and took his form through out the entire story
Can you imagine if this game had a zombies mode where the Kaftar comes back from the dead and raises an army of zombie animals? Cabela's video games tried to copy Call of Duty as well as other trends during this time instead of being real hunting games like they used to, so they might as well cash in on Call of Duty Zombies as well.
Well the Cabela's games were made by the same developer as COD so it does make sense. However in the words of Angry Hunter "Don't give Cabela ideas, cause then they will make it, and they will make it awful."
@@SmaugtheDM I thought Activision was just their publisher before they stopped working with them.
Please cover the rest of the dangerous hunts games! ❤
Had this game back on my 360 when it first came out. When we moved out I couldn't find my game at all and I ended up losing it somewhere. Hoping to buy this game again so I can replay it.
Love your vids! Please post more often!
Honestly I feel like dangerous hunts 2009, 2011, 2013, and Call of Duty Zombies (main storyline) are all connected (and that dangerous hunts 2 is more connected to like Modern Warfare or something like that).
Why do you think Dangerous Hunts 2 is outside of COD Zombies?
@@SmaugtheDM because I feel Makarov may have domesticated the yeti or bred hogzilla.
I'd love to see a discussion on who would win in a fight between the Kaftar and the black lions maybe even like lore/biology on each creature kind like roanoke
Lol
The black lions are stronger, but I don't think they could kill the Kaftar. The legend about only fire being able to kill it would mean that even if the lions 'killed' the Kaftar, its spirit would live on. That's why even when Cole was shooting it in the face repeatedly, it wasn't until he dropped the chandelier on it and trapped it in the fire that it finally died. So since the black lions don't have fire, they can't kill it and it would wear them down.
Kaftar will it’s a hyena got 1100 psi bite force but that kaftar might be more
It's great to see all the story laid out like this, and the edits were great too. I have played the DS version, and honestly, it's more fun than it looks. It definitely does add a lot more to the lore and I would recommend a try of it, if you can.
Also yeah Samson is 100% just the worst. I think the whistling sound in Africa is either the Kaftar itself (after all, the whistle is just copied technology from what the Kaftar can do naturally), or else it's Samson after having his 'heart devoured' as Mbeki puts it. That the Kaftar in the Wii version is missing an eye lends credence to the idea that it IS Samson via infecting him or possessing him or something like that. There's also something really suspicious about the fact that his hunting lodge happens to have an opening leading directly to the Kaftar's lair...
Hey man, thanks for putting more evidence on the table of Sampson being the worst. Like I said in the video, I do in fact own the DS version of the game, however from experience the controls are incredible awkward with enemies that just keep on spawning behind you makes it incredible difficult to get through and actually appreciate the lore of that version of the game.
@@SmaugtheDM Have you tried playing it on an emulator? It might be easier with a mouse and keyboard. My own experience was that it was difficult, but not THAT tough, I beat it in like 4 hours. Granted, I was playing on an old computer that dropped the game's frames constantly, so I was essentially getting extra time to aim and shoot, but I was also using a trackpad so I would imagine a mouse would make up for it.
my stepdad bought this for the wii the year it came out. Played it twice and never again
I think the kaftar was created in a lab
I figured the church was just what they decided for a set piece.
It could be just that too, but I thought it could be a lot more than that.
We know about the kaftar aka the werehyena but what about the whistle we heard after Cole got attacked by the wolf? I have a feeling that scared the wolves away and not the bear???
14:04 -14:06 🤔 could not be subspecies of grey wolf doesn't
Inhabited in Alaska
And i think coal had brain damage and forgot a lot about the wolf attack because he hit his head alk he remembered was that the wolves killed his brother thats why he said he didnt belive in supernatural stuff
I’d love to talk dangerous hunts theories with you
Well, what theory do you have?
@ a few, to start with, the kaftar you fight at the end of the game is Samson rainsford. The kaftar is white, as is samsons hair, the attacks stopped when he left and started a few years after his return to Uganda, and the kaftars left eye is scared like Samson. As well as embeki saying everything literally. His friend is inside cole cause we play as the person who is killed. The ye monster is in his heart because without him the project would have died. He captured it and it took over his mind and eventually his body. We also never see him after he steps on the mine. Potentially because he sets off the mine with the intention of starting a fire and having cole once and for all ending the curse.
@ another theory is that all the destroyed buildings and infrastructure we see on the rainsford land in Alaska is because of the moved nightfall program. This explaining why Samson is so protective of his land, as are the keeluts. It’s their home and where they were resided for years.
It can’t be Samson that blew the whistle saving cuz the black wolves attacked Adrian if it was Samson why would he have his son killed?
Want a sort of sense of what the were hyena is like check out the movie hyena from 2011 you'll get a kick out of it besides the eye candy starring Hoffman from saw franchise himself... And even that one guy from the mannequin movies...
Really? I never knew about that. I'll go check it out.
I think samson was the second kaftar theory
Go on...
@SmaugtheDM in the game when Mbeki mentions it that the kaftar tranferred it evil to him and i also thought those wolves were not normal
And i wonderd how big is the kaftar if someone can give me a size
The red whistle that’s what that is?! But the real question is who’s using the red whistle???
The real answer is Sampson! It's why he left it for Cole to find it before he died.
Hey,Smaug,I was wondering if you could help me with my game, mainly with how I should cover Pokemon stats and combat.
Stats I haven't really factored into my games all that much, combat on the other hand is pretty straight forward if you have seen the battles within D&D Earth.
@@SmaugtheDM got any advice?
The one cave paiting freaked me out it is very unclear do it its age is it it the kaftar that is depicted also
But we don’t really know if it was Samson rainsferd that blew the whistle saving Cole’s life do we Adrian did say that he hasn’t seen dad since the avalanche and he hasn’t talked to his dad since 10 years ago right soo Myb he is protecting Cole soo the same thing doesn’t happen to what happened to Adrian but if it was Samson that blew the whistle than why didn’t he do the same thing when Adrian got attacked right soo that leaves me how can it be Samson reinsferd that blew the whistle
It's clear through the cavern dialogue before you meet Sampson in person, that he really thought Cole was the worse son and it was his intention that night Cole was the one to die, however something change and so Aiden was picked. Then after Sampson regretted his decision, he felt guilty for the death of Aiden to the Keeluts.
well, Activision is involved in the game, sooooooo....
What is the name of those wolves again
Keeluts.
