the way you speak about the homelessness situation in l.a. and the children that were randomly forced upon you to watch when you were in line at the santa monica pier is so sweet. you literally have the kindest heart! you are rare. so many people would not give af
A lot of people from LA don’t even touch downtown unless you’re going for shows or the fashion district. Venice and Santa Monica are fun but very populated with crackheads. I wish that transplants would stop giving our city a “fake” label. People are just trying to make a decent living and don’t have time for drama. It’s the influencers that either ruin or over-glamorize the city.
Exactly LA natives know! Also downtown is filled with people who weren’t born and raised in LA. I always find it interesting when people go visit and they usually go to downtown or Hollywood and a lot times it influencers or people who just moved to LA .The homeless issue is true I wish there wasn’t such large amount of people dealing with homelessness

And yeah America is notorious for not having healthy food especially produce. I’m from nyc and every time I’ve visitors Europe to see my family, I’ve always been in the healthiest state in my life. It’s the chemicals and sugar in the food, which (the chemicals) is banned in Europe and etc.
Which is why I want to leave here
LA is tough, it literally smells like weed EVERYWHERE.
And with all that pollution from cars it's even worse.
LA is scary. Orange County is nice and clean but even more expensive.

Living in the US is so hard food wise.. trying to avoid all the toxins that is put into our foods and beverages, is such a tricky thing.. it makes me wish I lived in a different country

You have to get fresh produce from normal grocery stores that’s where you’ll see about a quarter of the store being designated for fresh produce. Farmers markets are another good option. Target isn’t typically where people go to get produce and Erewhon is for rich people. Fun fact: California grows/harvests like over %50 of the nations fruits
I love this series, Leah!! I was born and raised in LA and you are spot on!
I live near LA and people love to glamorize the place when in truth some places like Santa Monica , DTLA have crackheads and much more that you won’t see these influencers show . So overall don’t fall for the glamorized version because i can tell you it’s not reality . Edit - I can also say people can be weirdly rude 😭.

Right about them not doing anything about homelessness. Right about everyone getting Covid like it’s the norm. Locals don’t go to target for fresh produce. Locals also take the trains and bus so yes there is public transportation. Ppl do look down on public transportation tho so I can see why you and the ppl you were with don’t know it even exists.

I’m in college for Social Work and have been to LA and have seen homelessness bad there and here in TX. Thank you LEAH for caring and having a conversation in thought of the Americans🖤

people probably seemed chill about Covid because Australia was a year behind us, it's the same in the UK. Covid affected us in 2020 so now we're kinda over it whereas you guys weren't as affected until 2021

America has gone to crap under our current administration. We’ve always had homeless and crime but not at this level. And all the homeless get shipped here for the weather unfortunately
I wouldn’t really say it’s bc of the current administration is the cause of the homeless problem in America more like the economy and inflation and the way of living is just way too expensive now compared to how much people are getting paid. It’s like you need to be in tech or work in healthcare in order to live a comfortable life

I just left LA, I couldn’t stay over a year. I just made a video similar to this and everyone native from LA hates on you so hard when you say this. They love to call you a “transplant” but everything you said is true. Not all America is like this, LA is a beast.
LA native here, I think it’s because a lot of what she says is wrong. Santa Monica is not sketchy it’s one of the nicest, priciest, and boujee parts of LA. Sherman Oaks and Encino are not the nice parts of LA they are quite miserable, hot AF, and really worn down. Maybe if you were visiting in the 80s they were considered the nicer suburbs but now they are pretty bad. I’ve never felt more terrified in my life than when I was encino. She also talks about LA like it’s this horrible, run down place which it isn’t at all, that’s just the way right wing media likes to portray it. Like every city in the world it has its bad parts but if you know what you’re doing and you avoid those areas it’s honestly one of the nicest places in the world. No where else can you get the combo of perfect year round weather, diverse culture, a center of industry, tons of job opportunities, natural beauty, and so much more. Anyways, it’s good people like her talk it down, you’re reducing traffic for the rest of us so thank you!!

That’s actually sadly true in Seattle WA there was a crazy amount of homeless and they’ve “kicked” them out of Seattle streets and are all moving down to the streets of tri cities🫤the community parks are full of them but these homeless are more aggressive And are all high going crazy in the parks or even your own home when ppl do yard work they creep up behind you like extremely close with bad intentions that’s wht I witnessed with my neighbor and when he was getting closer we noticed he had something in his hand😐it’s crazy here
