I learned rootless voicings in my basement. I took a fake book and sat down for two weeks playing from one end to the other. I didn't worry about time or rhythm or anything other than the chords. I also learned two handed "Garland voicings" (3-7 or 7-3 in the left hand and 5-8-5 or 9-5-9 in the right hand) in the same way.
Hi Brenden! I wanted to first of all thank VERY much for these GREAT podcasts! Unfortunately due to financial reasons i have not been able to join JPS...but your free material here is priceless 🙏 question for you...is it really convenient for me to learn my 2-5-1s and progressions in general learning then based on major keys? I mean...should one really study them mostly staying within the same key? I hope my questions is not to stupid really....thank you again!!!!
Hi Charlie, thanks for the comment and glad to hear the free material has been helpful for you! As to your question, yes I think working on various key centers I think is a great way to attack all those skills.
@@oterraplenista6449 Okay. Vlw..obg.
