I'm a recently retired major airline A&P mechanic. The thanksgiving holiday is usually the number one holiday travel time, but unfortunately sometimes these aircraft break and flights have to be cancelled. Sometimes if they break in a major hub there are spare aircraft available but on holidays like this the schedule is pretty busy. The other thing that really causes problems is weather which nobody can control. FLY NAVY!!!
As a mechanic, I can tell you that delays, cancellations, nor holidays has no effect on how maintenance is performed. If the airplane is broke, it’s broke regardless
Factual error: AA's planes do NOT operate 10 flights per day! It's typically about 3 or 4. Even Southwest's planes don't usually do more than about 5 segments. Check any flight tracking software. Surprised Tom would make this simple of a mistake
Agree. Maybe what he meant to say is 10 hours of utilization (flight time) per day which is the standard goal. No 10 flights a day for sure. Former AA mechanic and current pilot here ;)
After doing more than 30 years with the airlines as an A&P please follow all safety procedures. You will work many years of night shift and often be fatigued, there are many dangerous chemicals you will use. I have seen too many accidents and people terribly injured & killed. Working line maintenance & hangar maintenance is dangerous work, again FOLLOW ALL SAFETY PROCEDURES! Good luck in your career. FLY NAVY!!!
Too bad it's insanely expensive. They recently wanted $25 for a less-than-2-hour flight. Get real! It's $8 on United for an entire flight and, oh yeah, FREE on Delta
AA mechanics just voted on a 2 year contract extension top pay for topped out mechanics is now $69 a hour starting in January $143,000 a year with 5% contribution and 4% match 401k and 6 weeks vacation for 30 years of seniority
im a Aircraft Mechanic and yes we do these maintenance inspections everyday overnight. Duribg the daytime we mainly do gatecalls that require maintenance

Thank you for what you do.. And enjoy retirement.

Thank you Today Show for showing what American Airline does in their operations.😊
Yea so every airline does this because of regulations
I missed their entertainment screen, so I fly the premium airline DELTA now

@@airplanegeek893 Ah yes, that's a good guess of what he probably meant. Good luck if you're working this weekend--I'm flying AA home tonight!
He should have said 10 flight hours a day. Again the fake news media has no idea what they are talking about. They are to lazy to do the research
TY AA❤
Haha yup that’s what we do. I work for AA here in Phoenix and we’re always moving.
And I hope to become a mechanic is the next couple of years.
I wish you the best on your journey
Good luck !
Incase you weren’t paying attention closely to this video, expect to work night shift for a very long time.

You can definitely do it. One of the best and rewarding careers out there.
I have noticed that American WiFi has been outstanding lately whenever I fly (I’m an airline worker). And that definitely is my top complaint

Anyone interested in this should watch stig aviation
Aircraft mechanics are so underpaid.
I don’t know what their pay is but I know it’s a difficult job for sure.

How come I’ve never been on a flight that has had this maintenance? 😂😂😂
It’s all for the tv

90% of maintenance is preformed at night funfact
Looks exactly like the same report that Tom Costello did last year on the same topic, at the same time...
Embrace for the holiday delays and cancellations… 😂
Sorry kids Wifi is not on the Minimum Equipment List.
