Stall pokemon with offensive sets is pretty refreshing actually

Doing that issue kind of my gimmick.
In gen 8 OU, I ran Expert Belt Mew with Energy Ball, Dazzling Gleam, Flamethrower/Overheat, and Aura Sphere. One shots seismitoad, one shots ferrothorn, one shots hydreigon, one shots bisharp, 2 shots aegislash. Nobody expects it. Stall mons with unexpected offensive sets aren't actually bad
Andrew Sun Mew isn’t exactly a “stall” mon though, it just has stall sets. Offensive Mew is nothing new, Mew’s first ever comp set was a swords dance set.

Here's a challenge. You can only use 'common' pokemon, so pokemon you could feasibly catch in the games. this means:
No Egg/Event Moves
No Hidden Abilities
No Mythicals

To narrow down the choices, another rule to add is the encounter rate has to be 30% or higher.
I breed egg moves on my in game teams lol. And x y has smeargle and daycare super early aka field egg group mons can have all the egg moves if in x y.
*Youngster Joey's top level Rattata is banned.
9:49 Freeze Dry is such an underrated move, and hilarious cause who expects Ice to suddenly OHKO your bulky water type like that.

Sucker Punch isn't situational at all, in fact it's one of the best Dark-type physical moves out there

@@snarls3760 I was referring to hydros miss chance, as well as assuming that it would not ohko therefore making it a 2hko, and if it was going to be a 2hko then ice beam would he better because it is a 2hko that can't miss. I just underestimated Blastoise spatk.
(READ FOR A NEATO SET)
I know that nobody asked, but one day I was making a mono-Ghost team on showdown and was stuck in regards to my Mega-Banette. I was kinda tired of making new strategies and it was late at night, so I Googled a good move set for MBanette. I found a nice set with Shadow Claw, Pain Split, Disable, Substitute. I thought that was very cool because almost all of the moves have greater priority because of Prankster. So I put that into my team and then I looked at my Dusknoir. I didn't really want to use Dusknoir because I don't really know how to use him and that's when I got inspired. I swapped Dusknoir out for Sableye and instantly gave it Prankster. I gave him Taunt(for those set-up mons), Torment(because it can be frustrating to hit this thing with torment), and Disable(inspired by the MBanette). That's when I got a neat idea. Scrolling down to find Prankster boosted moves (in which I intended to use Toxic and Protect for that annoying ToxStall) and I found Encore. That raised the question: What would happen if I used the Prankster boosted moves Taunt, Disable, and Encore along with Protect on my Sableye? I used the set to see what would happen and I got a forced Struggle. This probably isn't news to anyone but I was so appalled to see such a gimmicky and fun to use set on one of my favorite Pokemon. It may not be efficient but it's one way to get your opponent to lose 25%-50% HP while taking only a bit of damage.
Moveset: Protect, Disable, Encore, and Taunt/Literally anything(You might get stuck with a full Prankster boosted Sableye so you might want a damaging move)
-The item you wanna use is Leftovers so you get that steady recovery
For those of you who want to know, the strategy is like this:
(NOTE: Sableye is not immune to Struggle, so I would put 252 EV's into HP and Def and the other 4 into SpD.)
(NOTE #2: Dark-type Pokemon will not be affected by this strat)
0. (OPTIONAL but also probably ESSENTIAL) You might want a Pokemon that's either really speedy and bulky or has Prankster along with the moves Mean Look and/or U-Turn/Volt Switch/Baton Pass/Teleport/something that makes you switch out so you can lock your opponent in battle since they'll probably try to switch out.
1. Use Protect and see what move their Pokemon will use.
Then choose one of 2 choices depending on the move they used:
-If they used a damaging move:
2A. Use Disable because they will most likely use that same move(They won't use Struggle that turn)
3A. Use Encore. This way they are locked into a move they cannot use and are forced to use Struggle.
-If they used a status move(Calm Mind, Thunder Wave, Stealth Rock, etc.):
2B. Use Encore, this way they cannot damage you on that turn.
3B. Use Disable and let the Struggling commence.
4. If you have Taunt, you might be stuck, but if you have any damaging moves or status moves, use those for some extra damage or switch out into a stronger Pokemon.
And that's it. I hope you guys like this set and try to use it or something. Anyways if you actually read all of this, have a great day and happy battling. :)

One idea might be to use moves only with less than 100% accuracy. I know that the thing is over, but this still may be a fun challenge.

I love this, the challenge gauntlet kind of an idea, plus it means you don't have to come up with all the things yourself. Then you'd just have to sift through the garbage. Watching this is really fun and entertaining.

Sometimes I still use not-actually-stall sets just to mess with people. I remember discovering the viability of Merciless 'Pex by accident while messing about with entry hazards. However, my favourite is still Surprise Physical Clefable.
People see me setting up Cosmic Power and Wish like usual, but then BAM! Belly Drum into Ice Punch. Got quite a few rage quits that way.
I usually play mega-sableye physical offensive, and due to his bulk, he can really kill 1 or 2 pokemon per games, the surprise always work

My only ever success in Showdown (I don't play often and am not good) was with going full coverage aggro on my Clefable (Fire Blast, Moonblast, Ice Beam and another move I don't remember, holding Black Belt) alongside the most painful wallsetting stall Celebi with mild cleric duties (Reflect + Mirror Coat, Giga Drain and Heal Bell, holding a Big Root).
Pretty sure absolutely no one was ready for it, and it was the most fun I had in Showdown to this day. All my other teams were newbie teams that were so painfully predictable (and the fun team still had a predictable sweeper in Landorus-T along with standard joe Rotom-W pivot, this was Gen VI meta in case anyone is curious), and while you're not actually my inspiration for those oddball mons, every video I watch from you makes me consider crawling out of my hole and maybe giving Showdown another chance.
But what about offensive Pokémon with stall? Like a Kartana that toxic stalls or something
That might be a little trickier, since a lot of normal offensive pokemon don't have the bulk to survive long enough to do stall well, or don't have any recovery options. Stuff like that. But i'm sure it'd be possible
Kartana can have mega drain making it survive a little longer BUT OF COURSE BECAUSE ITS SP ATK IS THRASH SO ITS NOT USEFUL A T A L L

Before the paralyze nerf, I used to run Modest Probopass with Zap Cannon/Power Gem/Hidden Fire/rest. It sounds terrible but it works. It eats Ferrothorn, Thundurus, Talonflame. It wins every normal trade (except the two 4x weakness), it beat stall pokemon and people like to rage quit after you land your zap cannon.

The TMNT team was glorious, as well as the offensive "stall" team. A fun team i made was any pokemon but you could only use moves in the usually useless move section. It's actually not bad.
OR get 3 packs of pokemon cards and you have to make a team using only what you pull. However if you get two of the same NFE you can evolve it 1 stage.
Sadly he couldn't take Pokemon who fit the personalities of the Turtles.

Banded Ferrothorn was a lot of fun years ago, you could reliably take out at least one important thing just from shock factor.

Full Choice Trick team.
The entire lineup is made up with pokemon that have a move like Trick that swaps items as one of its moves, and all of them have choice items of some sort. The idea is that at the start you are locked into using one move on each pokemon, but if given the opportunity you can force that penalty on your opponent instead, while trying to make them get stuff like Choice Specs on a physical attacker, Choice Band on a special attacker, and Choice Scarf on something that already outspeeds everything anyway, to make the opponent's team worthless.
It's a gimmick thing but I think it'll be hilarious to watch if it goes well.

in regards to the offensive stall mons team, ferrothorn is often times a lot more offensive than defensive, and life orb clef is quite common in gen 8 ou. the other four mons are really surprising to see running offensive sets tho

I got a pretty good challenge, redundant sets, like having a Rotom-Fan with the ability Levitate holding an Air Balloon and stuff like that

If you’re taking more suggestions for challenges, I’d suggest a sort of “Faux Monotype” team. Like no monotype as in every team never shares the same type, but every Pokemon on that team in only one type individually (Feraligatr pure water, Lurantis pure grass etc.)

Has there been a challenge for moves only learned by level up? None of this Garbodor with Drain Punch and Seed Bomb stuff, only Toxic, Gunk Shot, Toxic Spikes, Clear Smog e.g. Maybe even no Hidden Abilities too - the way you'd play a team in a game playthrough.
