For Standard, I've seen Boros Convoke splash blue for the 1 mana 1/1 that makes a map because epicure is rotating out.
Azorius control somehow survived the loss of the Wandering Emperor and Deluge and still has acess to Lockdown. And while it may have some difficulties and hasn't found it's footing yet, Eluge and Beza from BLB are great additions. Overall really happy with standard, but the same can not be said for Pioneer.
Also I think that WotC should really introduce seperate coucils for the formats.
Pauper is probably one of the healthiest formats and it's because the banlist isn't managed by WotC and they don't print cards specifically for Pauper. Modern is basically a lost cause from what I could gather and even Pioneer basically needs the whole banlist updated. Is Inverter really that bad if you have Amalia and Ripper around. And Pioneers biggest problem is the lack of good interaction. You have some good cards in black, but that's about it. So you either are in Black if you want incidental good removal, need to pivot to specifically play a control type deck (since there it matters less if your removal isn't 100% optimal, since you have 8 billion of them) or you just need to combo faster. This all just causes the format to spiral in to itself, since Amalia, Vampires, Phoenix and Nykthos all counter eachothers counters. I think it be nice if those decks be limited in power through bans(sorin or veinripper/Amalia or Walker/Leyline or, if they really hate green, nykthos/ Cruise). They should also unban a lot of cards e.g Smugglers copter isn't really a problem anymore, so what other cards can come of?

I would love to see a Convoke list with Spyglass Siren. That would be really cool!
I think you make some good points in your second paragraph. (Good food for thought.) Personally, I think I would be happy to see Amalia go before making more adjustments.

Nadu is definitely overpowered. I do think it ought to receive the axe but its definitely distracting from a multitude of other cards that fall on my list as "never should have been printed". Such as Wrath of the skies (hoses low CMC aggro decks that cast lots of non creature spells like hardened scales, bogles, affinity. and decks that want lots of permanents to snowball, lantern control, enchantress.), the one ring (time walk with card advantage blatantly pushed to sell a set), and orcish bowmasters (X/1 cards unplayable, pushed previous chase mythic ragavan to unplayable status and killed decks like death and taxes.). Really its just a glaring fault of wizards printing "direct to modern" sets, where it feels like a pseudo-rotation with each release instead of a slowly evolving format as new cards slowly filter in from standard. This is just my opinion, I last played modern 2 years ago and have just bought back in on living end expecting boros energy to pick up the #1 spot where nadu left off and am hoping my deck rotates into a good position because of it.

Couldn't have said it better myself, friend. Could not have said it better at all.
