Indie developers are the best what can happen to games in todays time. It makes me really happy to see that you have so many and especially so creative ideas and I have you on my favourite indie-game-list. I'm really looking forward to play this game. It already looks like lot of fun.
In one of the dev blog posts there was a post about X-raw vision, which gives you the power to see inside towers, castles, tunnels, so it would be posible to build a mountain side castle, but you will need to build stock piles close to the mountain and then build a defense wall for the first days, after that you can make your castle.
From these lapses it looks like the game runs really smoothly, other than the character stacking which to me isn't a problem at all it also looks free of major flaws, that's a good sign.
a New Minecraft is Risng for Us... not because some say its like Minecraft... but it may become the NEXT BIG HUGE THING... keep it up guys... and remember... block variety is everything... customization is a bless from heaven... and replayability is key...
Totally awesome. I was actually the 2nd person to watch this, but it wouldnt let me comment. I love you sauropod studios. I love castle story. I was at the demo in Montreal. Keep up the good work! Cannot wait to play it.
Honestly I'm more excited for this game than any other that's coming out! I've got a top of the line computer so I can play anything I want as long as I have enough money and time and yet this game.... I can't wait!!
I already love this game, it looks like amazing fun. I'm hoping there'll be a focus on multiplayer, because i'm really hoping to play vs my friends with this game. I'll definitely buy this as soon as it's available!
This looks bloody amazing, guys. Or, it will be once it's done. It would make a great RTS game like Age of Empires, or a tower defense game like... Well, I can't think of an example. Either way it'd be awesome with multiplayer, co-op or not, maybe both. Keep up the good work!
I kind of like the idea of a minecraft where you have your own army and peasents that can work for you, but in the meanwhile you can also play as one of them or be in 1st person as their king / leader.
@Shooteronly lol, this was posted from/for their weekly blog post. It usually is every Sunday, but I am still waiting for one. I would be satisfied with a few videos.
Of course, one might question the relevance of building a castle when you live on a floating rock no bigger than said castle, and you have no apparent way to leave that rock or access it from the outside. But yeah, cool game. Definitely something I would wanna play.
Check out the first demonstration. The castle they blow up at the end is on a smaller island that is connected to the larger one. Mind you the gap is small. I want to see cannons and stuff though.
@DervishMarauder combat system is planned (for castle sieges and such), and what kind of castle siege game would it be without co-op? so im sure multiplayer is planned too.
1:46 i love how a small indie dev team in the Unity engine can make more beautiful oceans and skies than in Microsoft Flight, Battlefield 3, Spore or Port Royale 3.
@RabidAnubis I think you'll find that very few people want to play a 2 hour match. It could potentially go on for much longer than that as well, when you consider the fact that everything is on a separate floating island.
because its coming out now, and its been about 3 months which is quite a long time before it comes out, which it has yet not come though prototype will be released very soon
Why does this game remind me of the first time i played a strategy game (age of empires rise of rome) it was epic and this game looks like its about to give me that same feeling again. Cant wait till its out!
Took roughly 26 - 27 minutes (real time) to build the small castle during the Day/Night Cycle portion of the video, that's not bad at all for only two bricktrons imo.
You should make a task query. So you can assign someone to for example mine resources and once mined, trigger them to build with the resources and repeat. Looks really amazing though!
@Velonuga Because it isn't minecraft and it has a different functionality. If I were to hazard a guess: They get little stones from mining the ground in general (because rocks are found in dirt), they take this back and fill up the boxes. In the dirt they get a few stones for each dug up block, but in the stone section they get more stones, but it takes longer to get. I think.
I feel like the wait is worth it because when they finally release it, there's gonna ba stuff not shown in the videos and maybe even Battlefield 3 graphics.
If you were to mine out a whole section under a mountain on one of the islands, would It disrupt all the gravity and make the island plumit down into the ocean causing everyone to drown that was on that island?
I want this game asap when it releases..dont care if it only have the third person rts element working..it got potential to support both rts rpg civic Puzzle riddle and so froth elements into it
I love this Project but i have problems to imagine how to play only on small flying island. Are there posibilitys to build bridges or something else?? Hope the the Game release is soon =)
I would like to see some steampunky airships to go from island to island and a way to spawn more bricktrons...(by the way does anyone know if you'll be able to mod the bricktrons to make them look more human?)
Multiplayer would also be great. You could team up with people, and help each other. Or you could fight against each other. Or team v.s. team against each other. Those are some cool posibillities which could be seperate gamemodes.
this is one of those rare times where a video has 0 dislikes. I really hope you have a pay to beta to help fund he game and I would gladly give you guys money to help get this game off the ground. Support Indie devs
I believe part of the reason it's going so slow is that they only have two workers. Adding more workers is likely to be a much better solution than speeding up the game, because it gives a better sense of progress as you add on to your structures.
I hope they make it you can build into mountains, and actually be able to see inside. What I want to do is dig my fortress into a mountain, and just have rooms full of stockpiles so I can keep building. I'll have little balconies coming out of the mountain that have catapults on them, so they can fire towards the one entrance inside. And if, in multiplayer, someone builds on my island without asking me, I'll dig under them and blow them up. I'll give them a few chance to leave first, though.
This game looks fantastic i will buy it the second you release any version of it, that means alpha or beta or final game! is there anyway we can support the project?
They take a two block with them to build a one block? Shouldn't it be so that with 1 two block you can create 2 one blocks when you show the day/night cycle
Cool Idea time. So we all know that there will be people who make these awesome castles, wouldnt you want to be able to see the insides properly? So what would be really cool was if it was possible to kind of go first person with a brickton so that you can get a proper tour of the inside of the building. That way more people would be interested in the game and it would make or some better videos.
A demo won't be out until October bro. Hell a playable prototype isn't even out yet. A playable prototype will be out for play soon after the kick starter ends but you have to donate 25$ to get it, but in doing that you will also get access to the beta when it releases. Go to the kick starter page and check it out, I already donated.
Not exactly. The final release date is still unknown- it's the beta that's coming out in October. There's also a prototype (pre-beta) that's coming out next month.
Seeing as you have made a very nice voxel engine in Unity3D (my engine of choice) and have gone into minor detail on your blog about how this was done, I was wondering if you could explain simply how this was done in Unity3D itself, what functions, etc. Many devs like you seem to be able to do it, but none have yet to explain how in a somewhat more complete way. Any response is welcomed, always nice to see a fellow Unity3D developer at work.
I noticed at 3:20 the Bricktons seemed to be stuck. They appeared to cut themselves off from placing blocks on the far left of the structure, and one of them blocked himself in with no exit route. Hope the pathing will be improved?
This game needed 80,000 dollars in donations within 30 days (Started earlier today) to take off. If you check their donations page, you'd see that they've received over 90,000 dollars and counting within 8 hours. This game shows great promise.
From what I've heard you will be able to re-plant tree's and also you can go from Island to Island to get resources and what not so it's no biggy I suppose :)
Looks great, I enjoyed that the lumberjacks get out of the way when they finish chopping a tree. Can almost hear em yelling 'timber!'. Nice touch.
Indie developers are the best what can happen to games in todays time. It makes me really happy to see that you have so many and especially so creative ideas and I have you on my favourite indie-game-list. I'm really looking forward to play this game. It already looks like lot of fun.
This still looks awesome and I hope you guys give us some more videos!
This is so far already a great achievement for just two guys, as well as doing it part-time!
Looks incredible, one of the very first original video viewers here! Keep up the great work!
This looks absolutely amazing. Take your time and this will be a friggin awesome game.
Lovin' the Day to Night transitions, very fliud and the colors are vibrant.
It's looking really good!! You have something special in your hands!!
this is surprisingly relaxing. I nearly fell asleep during the mining timelapse.
even despite being early in development..this game looks great. Awesome Job Sauropod Studio
In one of the dev blog posts there was a post about X-raw vision, which gives you the power to see inside towers, castles, tunnels, so it would be posible to build a mountain side castle, but you will need to build stock piles close to the mountain and then build a defense wall for the first days, after that you can make your castle.
can't wait for this to come out, want to play this so much.
This game is looking great! Keep up the good work.
I don't know about anyone else. But I could watch these little guys build or mine all day.
From these lapses it looks like the game runs really smoothly, other than the character stacking which to me isn't a problem at all it also looks free of major flaws, that's a good sign.

This game looks very, very, VERY bright.
This is the definition of awesomeness.
Still looking forward to playing this.
I hope we can create/import our own models for the characters.
I don't really keep up with the development of this game, though that news brings joy to my heart.
Oh man, the screen is rotating after the video was done. I love those effects
Honestly I'm more excited for this game than any other that's coming out! I've got a top of the line computer so I can play anything I want as long as I have enough money and time and yet this game.... I can't wait!!

The pineapple lord approves. Beautiful how the wood collapses and forms blocks.
The game's pre-release comes out either around the end of August, or around October, depending on how much you support the kickstarter :3
@Shooteronly lol, this was posted from/for their weekly blog post. It usually is every Sunday, but I am still waiting for one. I would be satisfied with a few videos.

At first I looked at this game and said meh... Now I see it evolve and it looks like a really good game, I would love to play it as soon as it comes
Check out the first demonstration. The castle they blow up at the end is on a smaller island that is connected to the larger one. Mind you the gap is small. I want to see cannons and stuff though.
This is a game that will devour my life.
@DervishMarauder combat system is planned (for castle sieges and such), and what kind of castle siege game would it be without co-op? so im sure multiplayer is planned too.
Game looks good. Looking forward to its release.
i hope they make the characters walking not attached to a grid, and they let us build underground!
CAN NOT wait for this game!
Very cool guys, pumped about this game for sure.
@Shooteronly yes lots of people demand a beta but sometimes its crucial for a game
because its coming out now, and its been about 3 months which is quite a long time before it comes out, which it has yet not come though prototype will be released very soon
Why does this game remind me of the first time i played a strategy game (age of empires rise of rome) it was epic and this game looks like its about to give me that same feeling again. Cant wait till its out!
@BigWimply Yes, they have stated that in the FAQ
I would love this to add a bit of settlers/anno style gameplay. collecting food. Mining resources. Making houses for your poens to live in. hehe
You guys are fine in using those music tracks. They are both released under CC attribution - which you have done.
This looks like a fusion of Minecraft and Warcraft ,nice job.
@Velonuga Because it isn't minecraft and it has a different functionality. If I were to hazard a guess: They get little stones from mining the ground in general (because rocks are found in dirt), they take this back and fill up the boxes. i really would like to see more of this game its look really stuning
lookin good guys, can't wait to play it
If you were to mine out a whole section under a mountain on one of the islands, would It disrupt all the gravity and make the island plumit down into the ocean causing everyone to drown that was on that island?
The workers, when digging & carrying gravel reminds me of the imp workers of Dungeon Keeper 2 :)
looking good and question are the stairs in the mine built automatically?
looks cool Whens it comin out?
hope this game will have epic ambient soundtrack
will there be a unmineable bit at the bottom of each floating island, or if you mine down will your bricktrons just fall off the island
@SuperG838 I'm pretty sure they said they're making it for mac and pc, but not linux
i am awtching video and i have a question, how do you get on another islands?
I see a overpowering thing to build wood is more less effecting in time, because a tree gives 3 wood pieces, is there a way to balance this?
I want this game asap when it releases..dont care if it only have the third person rts element working..it got potential to support both rts rpg civic Puzzle riddle and so froth elements into it
you guys are going to make a ton of money on this game.
Un fortunately they didn't got to alpha testing yet, but as you say, I want a testing version release now !!
That sounds awesome! You know what? I think I'm gonna live on your island! :D
Minecraft RTS i love this ;] When start Alpha and we can't play ... pliss tell me
can you remove the stairs from mining ? for a trap of sorts?
I love this Project but i have problems to imagine how to play only on small flying island. Are there posibilitys to build bridges or something else?? Hope the the Game release is soon =)
I love the music, i hope they will keep similar music in the real game, it gives the game a certain.. Mystique
looking forward to this game!
wonder if you could build bridges to other islands
I would like to see some steampunky airships to go from island to island and a way to spawn more bricktrons...(by the way does anyone know if you'll be able to mod the bricktrons to make them look more human?)

@zoroisking It's automatic, they make the stairs out of dirt.
this is one of those rare times where a video has 0 dislikes. I really hope you have a pay to beta to help fund he game and I would gladly give you guys money to help get this game off the ground.

omg i wanna play this game! when is it available?

Cuando sale este increible juego?

You CAN build underground - All it takes is for you to dig out tunnels and shafts and cover up the sides with stone and wooden roofs.
i wanna play this now!
even if its not finished yet
will you do it like in dungeon keeper, that you can play such a little yellow guy from first person?
Is it possible that you can build on real land and not on sky islands? More gamemodes etc?
@MasterZipZero I did that once as a kid, and I decided to make all my games like that.
This game looks fantastic i will buy it the second you release any version of it, that means alpha or beta or final game! is there anyway we can support the project?
no problem! i hope its playable! :)
They take a two block with them to build a one block? Shouldn't it be so that with 1 two block you can create 2 one blocks when you show the day/night cycle
keep up the great work and let us never forget Mobe :.{
Lol, looking back at old vids, Soooo much has changed xD
Yup
THAT WAS SO AMAZING YAYAYAHYAYAYAYAYAYA 2ND VIDEO SUCCESS, RELEASE EARLY NOW NOW NOW I

Should have some stars at night
are you guys going to add it? or something like random comets
it would make the night awesome
Wait, so is it possible to mine out a section then replace it all with stone blocks and still have extra blocks to build a castle?
@TwoThirdsBrett I definitely agree, an informed group of fans is a happy group of fans!! (That will be even more willing to give the devs money)
A demo won't be out until October bro. Hell a playable prototype isn't even out yet.
