This show was produced in 2003-2004, set in the early 1960s, about confederate statues and New York "socialists" waiting for the revolution, and black grassroots movements for civil rights contrasting with outsider's ideas. This show was seriously ahead of its time. I think at the time this show was on Broadway, most people weren't exposed or aware of many of the issues this show brought up, but now many more people are. It could have done better this decade (in the latter half or in the age of Turmp) than it did originally.
I think I remember reading a few years ago that HBO had the movie rights for Caroline. PBS should release it as a Great Performances episode--with this cast--if they can obtain the pro-shot footage. It never sticks around long enough on stage for people to realize just how good the material is.
_Also,_ I really love the points both Emmie and Mr. Stopnick make in their argument: he prioritizes a more direct, militant approach, and she--being directly in harm's way--places an emphasis on safety.

Yes. I think her and her character are too good for that show and she should have her own. The other characters have too many hangups. I would not want to be patient in that hospital.
