Interesting how the fees are low in Berlin but much higher in smaller towns or villages. I live in Vienna and it's the same here. I pay 65 a month and one of the reasons to stay in the city is we would pay 500 a month for kindergarten if we lived just outside the city limits. The reasoning behind this in Austria is that large cities like Vienna have many children who don't speak German yet and every child should start school at 6 knowing the language, so there are lots of incentives for sending the kids to kindergarten so they can learn it while playing. I imagine it's the same in Berlin.
