    You need to isolate the pump from any structure so that noise and vibration do not communicate inside, and your controller must be inside because it controls your temperature like a thermostat, and gives you information that your remote does not give you. The remote will be used to start your diesel heater from outside your shelter.

    @richardknowles8035 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Maybe some isolation pads behind the pump mount might quiet it down inside.

    Ken, I still suggest, while you have the heater cover box open would be a good time to install a heat shield between the heater and the fuel tank, so fuel is less likely to expand and leak out in the future.
    A friend of mine recently restored an old pickup, and just summer heat on the exterior sheet metal of the cab caused the gasoline in his full tank to leak out up through the cap when it expanded. Damaged his paint job, as gas ran down from the cap and got under the paint.

    The beadboard is such a great idea for this build. Glad you got that stain process down with the brush (vs rag method). Sweet color. Looks like golden oak (on video). I'm sure everything looks even better in person. Love the bloopers ... Ken Unscripted and REAL. 🙂

    Looking great, Ken! Was wondering if putting a fitted piece of rubber or foam behind the fuel pump may help to reduce or even eliminate the ticking sound if caused by vibration? That’s awesome at how much heat that little burner puts out. Great find!

    Wow, 26F! Good thing you can start the heater to warm it up so you can work in comfort. Wow, up to 70F! I was just thinking that those boards would be under the bed. They look nice put up! I'm glad to know that the heater works well! I like your color on the boards that you like better. It's looking really nice around the window. Thanks for this video Ken!

    There is a lot of choices for RV lighting, one thought use 12 V recessed puck lights on the side panels where you're using fiberglass insulation. You could also mount a dimmers/switch control by the entry door.

    Great to see the progress on the Vardo.
    Just FYI they sell a quieter "silent" fuel pump for your diesel heater. Might be worth looking into. I'm considering heating our cellar with one and found everyone complains about the clicking fuel pump. The silent fuel pumps are running about $25 and they also sell a fuel pump muffler for around $10 that claims to work as well.

    Hey Ken! You're a joy to watch. Every morning my pup and I sit down to enjoy you and Kya work on something. It's even more enjoyable these days as I myself am just under two weeks post total knee replacement. I'm not a craftsman or carpenter, but you bring a lot of insight to things for a mortal like me. Thank you for your content and sense of humor!

Plus as you get closer to your surgery, please let us know. I and hopefully others can keep you in prayer. I just had a friend who just had surgery on October15 for knee replacement and the first few months can be the most toughest time. Thank you for your videos.

    Good morning Ken. You are making great progress. You remind me of Bob the builder. My grandson, Marshall, used to ask us to put on his DVD. (He is now presently heading to Virginia to prepare him for going on a mission for two years.) We would get in the van years ago and Marshall would keeping asking for "Bob". You reminded me of Marshall when you asked your viewers, "Can we build it?" . . . and the response was, "Yes we can!" 😊

    It's a CO detector: Carbon monoxide, not Carbon dioxide. CO is deadly. CO2 is pretty harmless. I think you could get some thick rubber, like a piece of an old tire, to mount the fuel pump. Fasten the pump to the middle of the rubber, and bolt each end to one of your vertical sticks. That will isolate the vibration from the wood, but still be strong. If you still hear clicks inside, you could fasten some sound deadening material to the outside of the plywood in the heater's box.

    Three sayings we used to say: Tying steel, "Talk and Tie!". Mixing material, "Watch out for turds in the punchbowl!". Ends and corners, "Trim hides the sin!". That is going to be cozy!! I didn't hear the ticking from the fuel pump after it was running for awhile. Thank you Ken.

    Hey bud to fix that clicking they have newer ones that don't click as loud but you could also take and put a piece of wood across the top and support it with a piece of string and it shall make it a little bit quieter if not you'll have to just get a newer pump

    Someone else might have said this but CO2 is what we exhale from our lungs... pretty harmless. CO is carbon monoxide... pretty dangerous. Yes, it's common for people to mix up the terms. On that fuel pump, try suspending the pump by only clamping the lines a few inches away from the body. Maybe even try isolating those lines with a piece of foam rubber and zip ties so nothing is rigidly mounted. This will keep the wood from acting as a soundboard and amplifying the noise. BTW, the bead-board going horizontal will give the illusion of the Vardo being wider than it is, just like in fashion where a striped shirt can make someone look fat or skinny, depending on the direction.

    may be ahead of the game but you said you are leaving the diesel heater controller outside?? I know you have the remote and don't need the controller inside but the temp sensor is in the controller not the remote... so if you set it to 21c (70 degrees) and it is 32 degrees outside... the heater will never drop down in heat.... moving the controller inside will act like a thermostat and keep it at around the 21 c...... you will want this when sleeping at night or you will be waking up at about 40c (100)..... also not bringing in the cold air return will suck any outside fumes or smells into the inside..... the hose is long enough to cut and put on the air intake.
