This might sound weird, but this song is nostalgic and brings memories from my childhood in early 2000s. They used to play it every night in mini discos where hotel staff brings kids together in stage and dance into this and other songs. That time were the golden days that hold a big part of my heart and it can’t be repeated, replaced and surpassed.

We danced to this in a skit for SPARC at summer camp in 1985. I like it. But I couldn't find it online because I didn't know the real lyrics. I thought it was "I've got two two two...apples and a tree..." (Yes, more mondegreens. I do that a lot because I'm hard of hearing) It took me forever to find the real song. Not just two, two, two years. I'm glad I finally found it!

I'm an American Anglophile! Born and raised in America but ever since I heard the King's College Choir on the radio I became an Anglophile. I loved this song since 1985 but I didn't know it was British. I love it even more now.
And how ignorant of me, I didn't know Petula Clark was British until I read her biography online recently. I always liked her, ever since I heard "Downtown" and "My Love", and"It's A Sign Of The Tmes" on the local oldies rock station in 1982. But I had no idea she was British. What rock have I been living under all these years?

While *I'm not saying you're wrong for liking the song,* it doesn't excuse the hate the song gets just because it sold well. Terrible music sells well all the time, remember the Black Eyed Peas? Or god forbid Dahvie Vanity?

    Agadoo-doo-doo
    Push pineapple, shake the tree
    Agadoo-doo-doo
    Push pineapple, grind coffee
To the left, to the right
Jump up and down and to the knees
    Come and dance every night
    Sing with the hula melody
I met a hula mistress somewhere in Waikiki
Well, she was selling pineapple, playing ukulele
And when I went to the girl, "Come on and teach me to sway!"
She laughed and whispered to me: "Yes, come tonight to the bay!"
The lovely beach, in the sky
    The moon of Kauai
    Around calypso sarong
We'll all be singing this song
    Agadoo-doo-doo
    Push pineapple, shake the tree
    Agadoo-doo-doo

Jump up and down and to the knees
    Come and dance every night
    Sing with the hula melody
    And down on the shore
    They gather romance
    She showed me much more
    Not only to dance
    Agadoo-doo-doo
    Push pineapple, shake the tree
    Agadoo-doo-doo

Me and my parents were on vacation in Mallorca in 1995 and every evening the hotel hosted the "Mini Disco" where they played this, "Superman", "The Music Man", "Hockey Cockey" and a few other tracks. Me at 5 years old danced my little ass off to every song 😅. Then I bought a cassette (those were the days 😀) and not only the songs but also the DJ's banters could be heard on it. I played it every summer after that because it reminded me so much of that vacation until we flew back to Mallorca 5 years later and I went to the Mini Disco again and this time I bought a CD 😁.

Alan Barton was killed in an accident whilst driving the Smokey (the group) van in torrential rain in Germany, he never woke up.
    Colin resides in Tennerief.
Both genuine people. Yes Colin did have an unproven accusation against him.
I hope these songs will be enjoyed by many generations to come, I am proud to have been a part of it all.

Yes...I think you'd have to be *very* drunk to enjoy this. Nearly comatose I should think, which is how I feel after listening to this. Thanks for the recommendations, TH-cam. 😊
