  • This video demonstrates how to open a HP ProBook 4520s to get access to the motherboard. i then go on to show some of the main parts of the computer, such as the RAM, CPU, Fan, disk drive and hard drive.
    at the time of filming, i had 3 of these to clean and repair for someone but they have gone back now so i will be unlikely to make another video on this particular model. i will probably make some similar videos on other computers / laptops so keep your eyes open for them!
    if you have any questions about it, please comment and i will do my best to answer.

    if you don't have the bios password for 4520s and you really need to access it, what would you do? both software and hardware side, if it can be done in many ways.

      I'm glad it gave you the idea and got you started - but apologies that it didn't go as far as you were looking for.
      I was taking the laptop apart for a reason which I can't remember, so just got out a camera to film the process of getting into it and didn't go any further than I was needing to in order to resolve the issue. I hope you found a resource that took you further into it and helped to resolve your problem.

    Thanks for the video it is very helpful, so after I opened my laptop and closed it to clean it some keys on the keyboard stopped working, I tried to remove and then reattach the keyboard ribbon but it didn’t work , why?

    • @lre23
      @lre23  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I no longer have these laptops to look for possible reasons but it could be that the ribbon cable isn't seated right, they can sometimes lock in even if they aren't actually in properly. It could also be the ribbon cable is damaged- either from being taken out or it could have been damaged before and just in a position that it worked in. Maybe also check the connector on the motherboard to see if any dust or anything is on that which could maybe have stopped it working

    • @MajdShaker
      @MajdShaker 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for replying, I checked the connector multiple times and dusted its place but nothing, I decided to take the keyboard apart and leave it overnight, water got spilled on it so I think it’s still wet or something, I will update in case people have the same problem in the future.

    The cmos battery is not where some video's show it. (Under and to the right of the mouse pad.) I can not see it any where. Are there such a thing as a4520s that only uses the main battery for cmos? If not, where is the cmos battery?

    • @lre23
      @lre23  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately i no longer have these laptops to take a look for you, but i cant imagine that it doesnt have one, and im sorry it isnt clear in the video - it was a very spur of the moment video - "i need to take this laptop to bits so i might as well film it in case it helps someone" type thing.
      Its not a very good picture (at least not without having the laptop infront of me) but here is the page in the manual that explains how to replace the RTC (real time clock) battery www.manualslib.com/manual/273715/Hp-Probook-4520s.html?page=105#manual

    hello, I have a probook 4520s, I have a good question, and that's where the fan cpu of this laptop sucks air? the exit is notorious but the entrance of the air where is it?

    • @lre23

      That's a very good question. I don't have access to this model any more as they were all damaged a few years ago. Now you mention it, i don't recall there been any intake vents, so i don't know. you've got me wondering too now

      From memory just a small cross head screwdriver. There might be a little sticker over them that needs peeled off

    hola, tengo una probook 4520s, tengo una buena pregunta, y es por donde succiona aire el fan cpu de esta laptop? la salida es notoria pero la entrada del aire por donde es?

    • @lre23
      @lre23  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Esa es una muy buena pregunta. Ya no tengo acceso a este modelo ya que todos fueron dañados hace unos años. Ahora que lo mencionas, no recuerdo que haya habido entradas de aire, así que no sé me tienes pensando también ahora

    i have a question if you can change cpu on this laptop and can you make a list of cpu

    • @lre23
      @lre23  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TOM TRAVNIK I would imagine that it is possible, but unfortunately these laptops were destroyed in a flood so i am unable to confirm this or make a video showing how. To access the CPU you will need to go one step further than shown in my video. the metal part that i point to as the CPU is actually the CPU's heat sink, this will need removed and then you will have access to the CPU its self. just undo the 4 screws and it will come off with minimal force (but the thermal paste might hold it on a little bit). you will also probably have to take off the fan to allow the heat sink assembly free. The stock CPU is apparently an Intel® Core™ i3-380M so you will need to find a cpu that will work as an upgrade from this. The CPU you choose will depend on your needs, as i could suggest any amount of CPUs but they may not be the most suitable for what you need, and therefore a waste of your time and money. if you do some research into which CPU would best suit your needs and then find one that will fit your laptop from there. Hope this information is useful to you

    Hey sir, I accidentally removed the touchpad ribbon cable from its correct place and have no idea how to install it back in, if you can help me that'd be great.

    • @lre23
      @lre23  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you pause the video at 3:14, it is shown by the arrow. from memory it is the little white one closest to the touchpad where the ribbon cable falls. unfortunately these laptops were destroyed in a flood, so I am unable to provide you with a clearer photo, but if you still can't find it, let me know and I will try to find a clearer image on the internet and I will put an arrow pointing directly at it for you.

      +lre23 I found a little flap and attached the cable underneath it and closed it but when I booted the laptop but the mouse didnt have any response. Do you think the cable might be damaged?

    • @lre23
      @lre23  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      it could have been unplugged from the bottom of the trackpad. On one of these laptops i was cleaning someone had picked the trackpad up and caused the cable on the trackpad to become disconnected but they had put it back as there was still the glue on it, meaning it looked like normal. If you take the palm rest off again, you will see a small connector on the bottom of the trackpad. Check the cable is connected correctly in this and in the motherboard too. Also make sure the cable on the motherboard goes into the white clip that is furthest forward as if i remember correctly there is two very similar ones.

    Good evening all the world I have a big problem with my pc ph pro book 4520s and my problem is my pc will not start and also the witness of my pc n stop of flashing all the temp. m someone a little help please

    • @lre23
      @lre23  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +alexis antonjara Hi Alexis, I dont fully understand your question. i believe what you're trying to say is that your probook 4520s will not start, and when it is running it over heats? As for the not starting, it could be any number of things. for example if by not starting you mean an operating system (probably windows) will not load. in this case, your HDD may either not be present, it may be broken, or the cable connecting the HDD to the motherboard may not be securely connected.
      If it will not turn on at all, do you know that your power adapter works? does a light come on when you plug the power cable in?
      Regarding the overheating, does it sound like the fan is running when the laptop is on? if it does, i recommend that while the laptop is off, you squirt some air duster in the vents on the side to try and clear out any dust.
      If the fan is not running, i suggest checking the connection to power on the mobo and seeing if that is loose. otherwise, it is likely you will need to replace the fan.

      j ai une pc pro book et son probleme est qu il ne marche pas a cause de carte mere est circuite. Et quand on me le charger le temoin cote du l entre au charger clignotte tous le temp et je n arrive pas a le faire demarre.

      @lre23  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +alexis antonjara s’excuser pour le français utilisé dans cette réponse - mon français n’est pas bon. Si votre problème est avec la carte mère, il y a sans doute pas que vous pouvez faire autre que de le remplacer. pour tenter de la difficulté de la charge, débranchez le chargeur et vider la batterie (si vous l’allumez et il s’allume même si l’écran n’est pas activé, la batterie sera utilisée) puis branchez-le dans le chargeur une fois que la batterie est morte, le charger pendant un certain temps et voir si cela aide. sauf que, im hors suggestions autres que peut-être un chargeur défectueux.

      @lre23  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're meaning that the video shows the steps too fast, it is shown in real time right up until i put it back together it is just because i have opened this model many times in the few months prior to filming. You can however pause the video as you are carrying out the steps, or if you wish, clicking on the cog in the bottom right hand side, you will be presented with an option called 'Speed'. Clicking on this will allow you to slow down the video to a more useful speed. I'm sorry that it wasn't what you were wanting
