  • AV-8B Harrier mission flythrough in DCS World. Vertical Takeoff (VTO) from a forest Forward Area Refueling /Rearming Point (FARP), KC-130 refueling, strike on Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) battery, and return for vertical landing at the FARP. Thanks for watching!

    Do you use the water injection when taking off? If not, that may be where the wingman is getting extra performance from.

      Good observation, but yes, I do use the water injection. I think the AI flight model is a little different than the client flight model. Appreciate the comment! Take care.

    Are your AI Harriers crashing into the ground during missions? Mine are crashing straight into ground on CAP and CAS missions. Yes they have fuel.

      Not often, but occasionally. When I use them as a wingman in my group, I use the DCS commands and am very directive on what I want them to do. I tell them when to attack, when to RTB, what formation to fly. When I use AI in another group, I also make sure I have all altitudes and ,airspeeds, as well as advanced waypoint commands put in the Mission Editor for them. Bottom line, is I try to not let AI think for itself too much ! :) Hope that's helpful. DCS AI still needs a lot of work (although it's not too bad).
