- Hello my friends, this is the second lesson of chapter one
In this lesson, we will talk about: Bucky, and Positioning terminology.
Bucky, in short, is a box in which the film is placed, and its function is to absorb excess scattered rays that cause confusion and blurring of the film, especially when we take radiographs of thick organs, such as: the abdomen, chest and vertebrae.
In the past, we used film in x-ray imaging, but today, after x-ray imaging techniques have developed, we are using cassettes, so we will say cassette instead of film.
The cassette works the same as the film, receives X-rays, and stores them in the form of an image.
And we can change the height of the bucky to be suitable for the length of the patient.
And inside the bucky we put the cassette.
And we will talk about Bucky more in the next lessons.

Now we'll take some terminology.
We will talk about:
Positioning terminology
They mean the terms that are used to describe the patient's position, if he is
Standing, sitting or lying down.
There are two terms:
erect, decubitus
The word erect means that the patient is in an erect position, whether he is standing or sitting. It is important that he be straight in this way, and not be bent.
This position is not erect, because the patient is bent, he must be straight like this in order to say that he is in an erect position
Let's take some examples:
See this patient:
The patient is standing, this means that he is in an erect position
And the back side, the posterior facing the cassette.
So we say:
Erect with the posterior aspect against the cassette
_____________________________________________________________________
Another example :
Watch this patient:
The patient is standing, this means that he is in an erect position
The anterior side is facing the cassette
So we say:
Erect with the anterior aspect against the cassette
Another example :
Watch this patient, standing, then erect
The left side is close to the cassette
So we say:
Erect with the left side against the cassette
One last example:
Watch this patient, standing, then erect
The right side is close to the cassette
So we say:
Erect with the Right side against the cassette

Let's move on to the second term:
Decubitus
It means that the patient is lying down
There are four cases:
supine , prone , lateral , semi-recumbent
supine: means that the patient is lying on his back.
prone: means that the patient is lying on his stomach.
lateral: means that the patient is lying on his side.
Semi-recumbent: The patient is almost lying down and almost sitting so this position is called: semi-recumbent
This is how we have finished the second lesson, see you in the next lesson, and thanks for watching
