Thank you so much for posting this video. After watching it I was able to determine my service line was clogged. I unclogged the line and the A/C fan kicked right on. I have a big smile on my face knowing my wife and baby will be sleeping in a cool home in Texas in July. Happy 4th of July.

Great video...before pulling out the thermostat, make sure to turn the power off at the furnace.
When you put the thermostat back in the wall, be careful not to force and damage those pins behind the thermostat

My AC hasn't been cooling for over a week, it has been cutting on and off for the past 5 months since I've lived here and its been driving me crazy. It'll be working just fine and then shut off randomly, won't work for a week or two and then will miraculously just come back on. (All the while the screen on the thermostat is on, its backlit and powered on.) After watching this video I just popped up the "flow switch" he mentioned and it came right on. I don't know if that was supposed to happen or not lol but Im grateful. I was on my way to go buy a fan when I decided to search TH-cam ONE MORE TIME. ....Just wanted to post this incase someone else was dealing with the same issue. Try that :shrugs:

Good morning I wanted to thank and compliment you on your very informative and useful video. I live here in Tucson Arizona probably one of the hottest places in the US. Under my lease I'm sure I'm entitled for someone to come out and service my AC and heating issues but because I'm a pretty independent woman and don't like to trouble much less wait on anybody, I usually take the liberty to switch out my own filters generally every 2.5 to 3 months. In the peak of the summer heat and because Arizona can be very dusty I may find myself doing this probably every six to eight weeks and one of my indicators is when I hear a whistling sound that usually tells me it's that time. Well although it's getting warmer it's not exactly summer time so this year's early "whistling sound" AKA my time to change my filter alert" started off rather early. After switching out my filter I found that they're still was yet enough cool air flow to make a significant difference. I decided to TH-cam a do-it-yourself instructional video which is where I found yours. After following your instructions I am happy to say that almost instantly I can feel a much more cooler difference. I just wanted to thank you and let you know that I added this to my now and new named "Handy Man" list lol! On a serious note I can't thank you enough. Good luck, stay cool and keep your dyi videos coming!

@HDMann292 just a thought...but I just got a new thermostat put in that has "auto switching." It goes from AC to HEAT as needed so that year-round you don't have to change settings. You set a "heat" temp, to where if the temp of the room drops to that point, the heat comes on. You set a "cool" temp so if the temp gets too hot it will start the AC. It might be possible to have the "heat" temp too close to the "cool" temp which causes crazy heater/AC switching...

    Our isn't getting cold
We are in a rental in South Carolina there was a new unit installed before we moved in. The airflow wasn't great and never has been, but the heater works good but when it got hot the air conditioner didn't work that good so the guy who installed it came in and worked on it then the air conditioner works good but when it got cold the heater wasn't working again we were told it kicked into some emergency mode or something and my bill went up to $500 so he came and fix that now it's getting hot again and now the air conditioner doesn't seem to be getting cold we either have one or the other and the thermostat might as well being on off switch because it does not control the temperature and shut the thing off I don't know if this guy doesn't know what he's doing or just doesn't care but we're tired of this any suggestions?
