The Fortnite story made me care more about the game, i came from Save The World, an around chapter 2, the story started to pick up, not only in enviermental progression, but also with dialogue, i like games where i feel like im part of the world, and doing quests that is voice acted and seeing events that show the reult of my efforts, eaven theo it would happen if i did not do a single quest. ( when i think about it, chapter X, where you worked for the scientist the first time is one of the fooks of fortnite for me) The story made the BP grind a little more intresting, the BP Costumes could have some or a lot to do with whats happening on the map and storyline, it felt like an evolving game with a story and world i could lose myself in to, and i noticed that i play less and less, as the story become less focused on, it could be a combination of Fatigue and Story decline, but i miss, weekly map changes, and hints, youtubers talking about whats going on, what could this lead to, and what can the event be when the story clashes with the event. Fortnite is becoming more and more child friendls, it seems like they take less and less risk, and i get less and less intrested in store items and BP skins, it might just be a me problem, or something has changed at the core of fortnite. The current season has been one ive had alot of fun with, it has had a story line, and fun co-labs like Avatar, so who knows.
The story is what made me want to hop on fortnite every day. I was so excited to learn what happened during the night, and if we had any more rumors of things. Now, fortnite is somewhat dry and plain, and I only log on like 5 times a season (maybe) to check out new collabs or play tournaments.
Fortnite is no longer just a battle royal. It's becoming (or more accurately) has become an ecosystem of different games. Its a newer/better version of Roblox. Epic still provides quality "headliner" games: Rocket Racing, Festival Stage, Lego Fortnite, Battle Royal & No Builds, Tournaments, and the entire Creative game mode full of thousands of custom games that are anything from fan made Battle Royal modes, Box Fights, Prop Hunts, to horror, tycoons, sport games, and role playing. Epic partnering with creators UEFN, and companies like Disney will keep Fortnite alive for years to come. It may not be in the same way we see it today with stories, lore, and a main focus of BR modes but there will be a lot more exciting things coming. Change isn't always bad. Only time will tell.
@CranicVTno way... chapter 4 had the shittiest story I’ve ever seen, none of it ever lead to anything big it was all just used as a Segway into the next season and then forgotten about. Chapter 2 actually had meaningful , easy to follow along with story. It actually made sense
@CranicVTi'm sorry but that's not even an opinion chapter 4 literally had no storyline at all (except for season 1 and that Led to nothing aswell) chapter 2 and chapter 3 were the ones with the best storyline
@@MasterJoeda_ *Yeah but that also makes him a really big fan of the game's Story line compared to people like peterbot who only play for money and nothing else And he also probably pays the most attention like his fan do too T5G Put so much effort into every video about fortnite And this is all just facts No glazing*
tbh live events was one of the highest key reasons fortnite survived the period of that they could fall and fade forever(first two year likely: if they faded in 1st two year fortnite could never be as popular as it is rn), alongside constant constant updates. they dropped weekly updates fully, it was a treat to wakeup every tuesday(occasionally wednessday and rarely but sometimes thursday) and read patchnotes and later in the day stand in line to enter the game and experience the new weapons and changes. they still are doing live events but, it is not as how it was back then, for my group we even if we didnt like a specific season(say CH2 S3, or S5) but we still would gather for the live events.. the last live event i remember most of us gathered was when peely drove the shield tank to the mech, and that was also a let down(live events peaked with CH1S9 mech vs catus. last two year was dry of events and almost all of my group are parted (except for the OGs first few week, but they didnt stayed for the event either).. i dont think people will ever care for live events as much anymore(Ch3-Ch4 is a proof of that, they didnt do live events for a long time and still kids played) they will always keep losing players and i dont think they will ever have a big chunk of pie of player base that have been playing for more than 5 years, there will be times the percentage of people that played for 5+ years in player base below 1%.. then they probabily realise the importance of hitting live events for their game(more than battle passes these events keep the OGs alive for atleast 1 time a season they will return for events)
I love a storyline and if Fortnite got rid of it, I would probably quit because the game would be boring. I get if you don’t care about a storyline and just play because it’s fun, but I like the hype of the feeling of “what’s going to happen next”.
After watching this video, I realized how perfect chapter 1 was. Nothing comes close to the excitement of seasonal events, the loot pool, POIs and heavy weekly updates. It's just not the same.
To answer your question about anything being as exciting as the cube (or Kevin as I've learnt) is it was a fresh new game with fresh new ideas. I have (as a 1st time player in my rookie chapter) found the story interesting and the events great. I've never experienced anything like it in a game before. BUT. I think for it to be as universally big as the original items, it needs to be something as unique and attention grabbing. It needs to be something that carries the story forward better than the box did with the mythic and legends (side note, MASSIVE shame we didn't get the Kraken wreaking Snooty steps or something) the sandstorm has my interest BUT its an event to get from one season to another it's not holding this season together like previous years.
Fortnite’s story being clearly tied with the world events is pretty crucial and engaging for me. It gives a sense of purpose for current metas and loot pool.
To play off of Sypher question at about 2:45 in, I think the general population of Fortnite players don’t care too much about the interactive elements around the map, UNLESS they directly effect gameplay. The reason Kevin was so impactful (besides that this was the first time we saw this happening in a game to this scale), was because you could interact with it (bounce on it, shoot it and it would attack you, it moved around).
I think they should split the Fortnite team in half - half of the team focuses on the storyline and the events and what not and the other half focuses on the game itself: gameplay, loot pool, map, etc.
As a person who really loved the Fortnite storyline, and was catching up to it as well as making even theories about it, I hate the situation it's at right now. Ever since chrome season, the storyline has been going down hill. It's as if they make a new story every season, and once a season ends, it won't have any effect or impacts into the new season. Chapter 5 is a great example. We started off with the underground and how jonsey wanted to rescue peely and they lived happily ever after. What's next? What happened to jonsey? Then we went into season 2 with the Greek mythology. It was great until I don't know, they stopped? Oh and btw, it won't have a great impact on next season, but rather making a new story. In conclusion I guess, they're just producing what I'd like to call "fillers" every season, and nothing is really clear at this point. I really hope they improve it, and somehow get into the "canon" events of what's actually happening next season.
thing is epic games used to not explain anything it started off just walking around playing battle royal then a purple cube came out of no where and now people are starting to expect a story from fortnite
List of things I know that got closer: The meteor Galactus Kevin ( to loot lake ) The boat ( chapter 5 season 3 ) The monster The sandstorm ( chapter 5 season 3 AGAIN ) Donald mustards retirement 🥺
The Travis Scott event was the best event ever, period. So many good memories of the old Fortnite, i'm really not into the way they're doing it now - but hopefully they improve as it goes. I have faith.
People really cared about the story more than you think even just the loading screens formed a story that 90% off the players could understand and they would have a general understanding. A big reason no one cares about the mini events now is because most people lost hope in live events since the fracture event happened and because the story becomes bad. I guarantee you if there was a mini event that had to do with the old lore itd be way more hype
That's right bro, go nuts with disney for a bit ,season by season colabs, including events and just drop old story bits now and then as teasers....it's had a ripping run, the story so far, be hard to keep it going I'd imagine....
The meta verse gonna turn this into roblox they need to focus on the story line and make cool events that keep people playing the game and listen to the community instead of all this metaverse crap. I mean look at the numbers, no one plays any of the rocket racing or concert or lego anymore
I got into the game for the story, I played it because my friends liked it but unlike the other games that I play for that reason I actually enjoyed this game it was my game for a long time. story was fantastic in the characters were deep and interesting. it wasn't pay to play like all the other games out there. if they're actually done with this story I'm really sad.
I've never follow the storyline 😅😂 It's just, oh event for new chapter and that's it.Even if they do random events without connection will be OK. In the end of the day players just want to shoot
Yo sypher you now what would be crazy for the live event is if the stone giant fights the titan neer the box and the fight with the smoke coming and they blow the dust away at the end with both them dying
Whatever they decide to do I just hope they do event announcements of some sort. I had no idea the recent one with the hand/box was even happening until I popped into your stream an hour after it happened, and I was devastated lol.
C2 S2 and C2 S4 were my favorites that I played. I used to play ALL day... now it just lost all itś energy. The fortnite story was the on;y thread keeping me from not playing when I just kept dying to sweats... Now, I just have nothing.
I think story is important just to give context to map and loot pool changes, but if we can't interact or be part of same story it might not matter that much.

Look, I know why he said that “the cube was new back in Chapter 1.” There was no leakers of the beginning. They didn’t know about the storyline and didn’t care. But now, their is leakers of the event and it just gets boring if they tell us about the leaks of the future. That is why the storyline is dead.
I haven't finish the video yet but I think the closest that anyone has came to Fortnite Live Events that people talk about is Call of Duty when sometimes they use to announce a new game.
Sure it's a bit unfortunate that they kinda abandoned the connection of the general story but I feel like the way their making it now will make the game's story last longer

Here's my take: UEFN was the killer of Fortnite, everyone can create everything. Events are not as interesting. There are so many things so you can play, people don't know what too choose and there is no point in even playing any map at this point.
With the Midas it's very wierd, chapter 5 already did it with Midas, (golden upgrade in vending machines...) so I don't think it's gonna happen again, but maybe.
its not that the story line is bad, its always been about hwats going on with the zero point and whats happening on the island, the 7, IO, and everyone else are irrelevant, and ppl would still see that theres a story if they actually tried to pay attention instead of just waiting for live events to spoon feed all the information to the them
