Great video! I’d like to see you break down gameplay in different modes (rec,park,etc) explaining general ways for players to play better for their team. Such as good iq plays, how to defend certain scenarios, when to switch/help, shots you should/shouldn’t take, spacing, how to properly use the fast break,extra passes etc. I will be making videos on these topics soon as well.
The real issue: nobody trusts their teammates, don’t understand basic basketball, people selfish, and 2k doesn’t penalize selfish bad team play as much as they should.
2k need to penalize for too many steal attempts, bad cuts & dunk attempts, bad screens, playing buddy ball when you have 5 ppl on the court not just 2, poor spacing & late passes.... Just make them go down 2 grades instantly from a C to a F & hopefully they grade out like they did in Highschool

Tutes, THIS IS GOLD. Everything you mentioned in this video is 100% spot-on. It’s exponentially easier for the human mind to draw conclusions based on a tiny subset of information, than to verify it mathematically with a large sample size to eliminate randomness and anomalies. It seems many people may not understand probabilities and percentages well enough either, at least not to truly realize how 2k works. The difference in make % between a 78 and 86 3pt shot rating is about 2.1% (according to NBA2kLab). People get caught up in the fact they’ve raised their attribute by 10%, and fail to realize that a 2% increase in make % means they’ll only make 1 extra shot every 50 3pt attempts. One of the biggest problems in the community is people playing one position and thinking they can advise all positions. You don’t know my attributes nor those of the person unmatched up with. How are you going to try to tell me what I should be doing with my build
If u play 1k-1,5k games on any position with ppl who are good on their position and then you play with ppl who are not good on their positions you can immediately tell what they doing wrong based on what good players usually do. Thats an experience, you don’t need to play on different position to understand basic stuff and fundamentals. Yea you probably won’t notice some advanced shit like quick stops, box outs whatever, cuz you are focused on your game while you play. But since you can check player’s 2k card why would you think that they don’t know your attributes?
If you have any semblance of good bball IQ you can tell someone what they should be doing. Example I dont understand for the life of me why u dudes keep bringing pure inside centers in rec when you can only score one way by doing a drop step and its not even an efficient and yall not that good at it and yall know how 2k makes these games. There is no reason why a center build shouldn't have at least a mid range jumper so u you're not clogging the paint which your match up knows you cant shoot and it dont help your team nor you. One of the biggest problems is everyone thinking they are the smartest person on the court & above reproach & refuse to take accountability. You tell someone they missed a pass instead of saying “myb” they get upset. They do something goofy and instead of owning it they wanna explain why they did it. This is the real truth. All these so called comp players thought they were so good until they had to rely on actual skill and not an exploit in the gameplay they abuse. Does 2k have some issues? Sure but every game will have issues in the eyes of someone playing. For example, I thought Spider-Man 2 was an amazing game. Plenty of ppl thought it was terrible lol

Even just having a group of 5, you will win over 50% of games in proving grounds. Unless you run into a 5, randoms will just beef with their own teams. Crashing out calling timeouts and throwing up fades in a double team 😂

Perfect title. Most important video that every 2k player needs to watch!!! Only thing I would've added (which can can groups into what you already said) and a key point that you mentioned that I want to EMPHASIZE: 1. EVERY GAME WILL BE DIFFERENT. YOU ARE PLAYING DIFFERENT PLAYERS. 2. STOP CHANGING YOUR JUMPSHOT 50 TIMES BECAUSE YOU HAD A BAD GAME. Once you find a comfortable jumpshot that works don't get discouraged because you went 2/6 one game. 2k isn't wired, especially this year, for you to have flawless games EVERY game you play. 2k25 is in no way perfect, there hasn't been a single 2k that was perfect and there NEVER will be. Just played a game five minutes ago with a SG that hadn’t taken a shot 2 minutes into the game and had 9 points on his head and proceeded to throw the game. 2k has to figure out a way to get these dudes out of the game. He went the whole game with 0 points and his guy with 25 yet he didn’t grade out because he moved around a little every possession. It’s a joke.
I feel for you, since the past decade when i started playing 2K, every time i check a yt video or reddit about 2K it's like im checking a conspiracy theory forum. "Acceleration increases the speed of your dunking animations" No it doesn't "I swear this badge is better on silver than on HOF" No it probably was a different situation that cause easier activation on some games than others "If i have 99 rebound why am i getting outrebounded every game" It might be because positioning, the other center or RNG Its like they're bent on a multimillionaire company doing sneaky shit just for the sake of doing it, what would 2K gain from hiding animations in something like a motion style?? In any case, good job man, you've been quite helpful for some time, dont let those kind of fools deter you from a job well done.
I don’t believe you’re wrong, Tuts, but I truly think there’s an algorithm at play in this game. In my opinion, they release random tuning patches that either enhance or diminish the effectiveness of certain stats. I believe this strategy encourages players to create more builds and spend more money. I suspect they integrated this approach around 2K20.

The problem is 2k will literally patch your jumpshot out of nowhere. causing you to miss multiple wide open jump shots Even after you've mastered your shot timing. Advantage defense 🤔, it's also causes unwarranted mental stress because now ppl think you suck when it's actually 2k. and for anyone offering any pushback on this, this same issue has been expressed by multiple people and sources, so not it's not just random coincidence 😣
Thanks Tutes- you bring up some really good concepts that The entire community can benefit from thinking about. For you, personally, having such a deep knowledge of the game on a scientific level- do you find it hard to play the game and just have fun or does your work get in the way of how you view a standard gaming session? The issue is that people want instant gratification. It's not their fault, its someone else's. The game is against me, it's ass. Here's something I tell myself when I miss a lot. "I dont go 10/10 when I practice, so I can't expect that in game" Also, your mental affects your gaming a lot. Having a long and frustrating day will make you play ever so slightly worse. That leads to annoyance, anger, etc. Those add up quickly and can throw you off causing you to lose confidence
The one think I will blame 2k about is the rng where stats go out the window sometimes. This is the one game where your opponent with make 2-3 3s in a row and we don’t play defense on the last one cuz everyone knows he’s going to miss from 2k trying to control shot percentages
So...my 2 cts on 2k community problem. 1st : most of People are playing rec theater and Park Like they are playing comp final game. They play their life on each non comp games... 2nd : everybody think they are hero because they put 70pts in pro mode carrier so other People are shit. 3rd : Many People are really bad but if you fail one time...they Bully you. If they fail...they leave or begin to be toxic . No respect for other People . This game is cool but most of People playing it are Just garbage .

2k should bring back 2k16 shooting where you can make whites again. 2k now has crazy bad latency and they expect us to get excellent timing often. Even the elite players struggle to shoot.
Honestly instead of someone like Ronnie being the "face" of 2k. We need someone like shakedown leading that. Someone that's positive that people trust. I think if the top %10 wasn't so glorified and people went more to play the game how it's played and less about how to cheat the game or cheese it. That would bring back some of the casuals and hopefully reduce people's toxicity.
The boost for me is night and day. I stop playing with boost for a week or two and the amount of very very lates I get is astounding. I play boost and everything is handy dandy. Same with block boost. Can block with it foul without it. It’s ridiculous how boost can affect to that extent. Capping shooting on high shooting build is ridiculous. I should be able go 100/ 100 with a 99 three wide open. Player with lower rating storing be able to do what I do, that like when I have a 75 driving dunk and miss because a center jumped at me to make miss but otherwise it won’t miss because I’m wide open but if I have 93 driving I should have a real high chance to dunk it.
Just played a game and I didn’t even watch the video.. but people who go ballistic over missed shots and bad passes in the first 2 minutes are insufferable . It’s a game of runs. Just because there’s a bad run to start doesn’t mean the game is over. I recommend keeping the game in low volume and just playing. If you let toxic teammates dictate the game everything goes out of whack. Take your headset off every game unless you’re playing with your friends
my 83 shot i created is better than my 93 shot i created or i make more shots with the 83 grade shot.... but yeah every game is def different and you remember that bc u will think 2k is cheating or using alot of rng but it's just the style they implemented to make the game always different regardless of ur attributes... it's a good thing but mostly bad bc if u have a 95 shot but missing shots bc 2k is changing the game tempo people like me will get upset
@Fableruin naw I mean yeah but at the same time the timing is switching so my 93 shot is not timing correctly but with the 83 is slow enough to keep the timings ok with the faster shot and 2k doing is slowing and speeding up gameplay I think the 93 not consistent due to the speed and the game delays
It’s also because with a higher attribute your shot selection is often worse because you feel like you should be able to get away with more on a higher attribute.
I honestly hate playing online because of latency and the shooting. I just want to hit starter 3 (I'm currently starter 2) for the cap breaker since it will really help my build in some key areas. I'd rather just play in my own world. I REALLY wish mycareer and the city we 2 different modes, they'd both be better off.
I will say the one thing about people asking ridiculous questions like about block affecting shooting or jump shots being patched is because of 2k. Because so many weird ass things like that have happened before so people don’t know what to believe. Big example I’m not sure people remember is one year we had to constantly unequip and equip animations so they would actually work and it wasn’t placebo. And then to make it worse 2k acts secretive about telling people wtf they’re looking at when it comes to stats and stuff. I mean just look at perimeter defense. NOWHERE AT ALL did they say it would straight up affect shot contest to the point the game will literally call a shot wide open even if a 7ft guy is in your grill just because he has low perimeter defense. That’s never been the case any other year but they randomly made it a thing this year and for no reason just decided to not say anything
Tutes I have a really interesting question. I made a slasher build and discovered that on a lot of my contact dunks I was having HOF physical finisher light up. Could you see if there’s any relation to these.
That rebound thing where you get lousy rebound animations because you're alone is THE WORST LOGIC I've ever heard! This is why dudes jump from the free throw line to horse over you. You should have amazing rebound animations due to your rating.. not because someone is near you. Every type of logic in this game is TRASH.
I understand what you’re saying tutes…. However, where you do your tests and the game modes are 2 different things. The same animations and latency where you are testing these things are totally different than the REC, Park and theater. If you’re going to claim one thing over another you need to take those same attributes, motion style and animations and try them in rec. I’ve tried Multiple different motion styles on my PG and I get way way more body up animations on the style I’m using than Jalen Suggs or Caruso. Certain animations and motion styles make you play differently and move differently.

When people invest thousands of dollars on the game, they want to be the main character. I have yet to meet someone who plays this game a lot who hasn’t spent at least 500 dollars this year. I am the only one who refuses to spend money on VC in the whole community.

Yo Tutes, Motion Styles 100% affect the way your player dribbles but it does not completely change your animations or affect all of them but if you are an advanced dribbler that knows exactly what each of your animations look like you’ll notice it. For example my Chris Paul crossover while driving in transition creates way more space with Suggs motion styles rather than Caruso. This is with a 6’2 95 ball handle 91 speed with ball and 87 speed.

The game is rigged. One gets nerfed or buffed based on what the algorithm wants. It's so obvious. All 2k cares about is keeping the most amount of money spending players playing as long as possible. It's only about money.
Had terrible latency in the 2k logo gautlet but it’s just excuses I guess. Got cooked cause my shot was not the same. Why not have an even server for logo gauntlets rather than having someone host at their court giving them the upper hand.

The missing wide open lays floaters jump hooks and dunks unreal animations that real nba players dont even do or the slow down animations when u get your shot blocked or poked loose like i get the ball poked loose y the whole opposition is faster to the ball then my team

If people set off ball screens the spacing issue won’t be so much. My coach always said if you standing around, cut or set a screen.

1. EVERY GAME WILL BE DIFFERENT. YOU ARE PLAYING DIFFERENT PLAYERS. 2. STOP CHANGING YOUR JUMPSHOT 50 TIMES BECAUSE YOU HAD A BAD GAME. Once you find a comfortable jumpshot that works don't get discouraged because you went 2/6 one game. 2k isn't wired, especially this year, for you to have flawless games EVERY game you play. 2k25 is in no way perfect, there hasn't been a single 2k that was perfect and there NEVER will be. All in all, YOU WIN SOME, YOU LOSE SOME.

Just played a game five minutes ago with a SG that hadn’t taken a shot 2 minutes into the game and had 9 points on his head and proceeded to throw the game. 2k has to figure out a way to get these dudes out of the game. He went the whole game with 0 points and his guy with 25 yet he didn’t grade out because he moved around a little every possession. It’s a joke.
I feel for you, since the past decade when i started playing 2K, every time i check a yt video or reddit about 2K it's like im checking a conspiracy theory forum.

I don’t believe you’re wrong, Tuts, but I truly think there’s an algorithm at play in this game. In my opinion, they release random tuning patches that either enhance or diminish the effectiveness of certain stats. I believe this strategy encourages players to create more builds and spend more money. I suspect they integrated this approach around 2K20.

The problem is 2k will literally patch your jumpshot out of nowhere. causing you to miss multiple wide open jump shots Even after you've mastered your shot timing. Advantage defense 🤔, it's also causes unwarranted mental stress because now ppl think you suck when it's actually 2k. and for anyone offering any pushback on this, this same issue has been expressed by multiple people and sources, so not it's not just random coincidence 😣
This is a GAME, sometimes you win sometimes you don't, for multiple reasons, tbh my group of rec is competitive but we focus on fun first.

The issue is that people want instant gratification. It's not their fault, its someone else's. The game is against me, it's ass.
Here's something I tell myself when I miss a lot. "I dont go 10/10 when I practice, so I can't expect that in game"
Also, your mental affects your gaming a lot. Having a long and frustrating day will make you play ever so slightly worse. That leads to annoyance, anger, etc. Those add up quickly and can throw you off causing you to lose confidence
The one think I will blame 2k about is the rng where stats go out the window sometimes. This is the one game where your opponent with make 2-3 3s in a row and we don’t play defense on the last one cuz everyone knows he’s going to miss from 2k trying to control shot percentages

1st : most of People are playing rec theater and Park Like they are playing comp final game. They play their life on each non comp games...
2nd : everybody think they are hero because they put 70pts in pro mode carrier so other People are shit.
3rd : Many People are really bad but if you fail one time...they Bully you. If they fail...they leave or begin to be toxic .

2k should bring back 2k16 shooting where you can make whites again. 2k now has crazy bad latency and they expect us to get excellent timing often. Even the elite players struggle to shoot.
Honestly instead of someone like Ronnie being the "face" of 2k. We need someone like shakedown leading that. Someone that's positive that people trust. I think if the top %10 wasn't so glorified and people went more to play the game how it's played and less about how to cheat the game or cheese it. That would bring back some of the casuals and hopefully reduce people's toxicity.
The boost for me is night and day. I stop playing with boost for a week or two and the amount of very very lates I get is astounding. I play boost and everything is handy dandy. Same with block boost. Can block with it foul without it. It’s ridiculous how boost can affect to that extent. Capping shooting on high shooting build is ridiculous. I should be able go 100/ 100 with a 99 three wide open. Player with lower rating storing be able to do what I do, that like when I have a 75 driving dunk and miss because a center jumped at me to make miss but otherwise it won’t miss because I’m wide open but if I have 93 driving I should have a real high chance to dunk it.
Just played a game and I didn’t even watch the video.. but people who go ballistic over missed shots and bad passes in the first 2 minutes are insufferable . It’s a game of runs. Just because there’s a bad run to start doesn’t mean the game is over. I recommend keeping the game in low volume and just playing. If you let toxic teammates dictate the game everything goes out of whack. Take your headset off every game unless you’re playing with your friends
my 83 shot i created is better than my 93 shot i created or i make more shots with the 83 grade shot.... but yeah every game is def different and you remember that bc u will think 2k is cheating or using alot of rng but it's just the style they implemented to make the game always different regardless of ur attributes... it's a good thing but mostly bad bc if u have a 95 shot but missing shots bc 2k is changing the game tempo people like me will get upset

@Fableruin naw I mean yeah but at the same time the timing is switching so my 93 shot is not timing correctly but with the 83 is slow enough to keep the timings ok with the faster shot and 2k doing is slowing and speeding up gameplay I think the 93 not consistent due to the speed and the game delays
It’s also because with a higher attribute your shot selection is often worse because you feel like you should be able to get away with more on a higher attribute.
I honestly hate playing online because of latency and the shooting. I just want to hit starter 3 (I'm currently starter 2) for the cap breaker since it will really help my build in some key areas. I'd rather just play in my own world.
I REALLY wish mycareer and the city we 2 different modes, they'd both be better off.
I will say the one thing about people asking ridiculous questions like about block affecting shooting or jump shots being patched is because of 2k. Because so many weird ass things like that have happened before so people don’t know what to believe.
Big example I’m not sure people remember is one year we had to constantly unequip and equip animations so they would actually work and it wasn’t placebo.
And then to make it worse 2k acts secretive about telling people wtf they’re looking at when it comes to stats and stuff. I mean just look at perimeter defense. NOWHERE AT ALL did they say it would straight up affect shot contest to the point the game will literally call a shot wide open even if a 7ft guy is in your grill just because he has low perimeter defense. That’s never been the case any other year but they randomly made it a thing this year and for no reason just decided to not say anything
Tutes I have a really interesting question. I made a slasher build and discovered that on a lot of my contact dunks I was having HOF physical finisher light up. Could you see if there’s any relation to these.

That rebound thing where you get lousy rebound animations because you're alone is THE WORST LOGIC I've ever heard! This is why dudes jump from the free throw line to horse over you. You should have amazing rebound animations due to your rating.. not because someone is near you. Every type of logic in this game is TRASH.

I understand what you’re saying tutes…. However, where you do your tests and the game modes are 2 different things.
The same animations and latency where you are testing these things are totally different than the REC, Park and theater.
If you’re going to claim one thing over another you need to take those same attributes, motion style and animations and try them in rec.
I’ve tried Multiple different motion styles on my PG and I get way way more body up animations on the style I’m using than Jalen Suggs or Caruso. Certain animations and motion styles make you play differently and move differently.

Yo Tutes, Motion Styles 100% affect the way your player dribbles but it does not completely change your animations or affect all of them but if you are an advanced dribbler that knows exactly what each of your animations look like you’ll notice it. For example my Chris Paul crossover while driving in transition creates way more space with Suggs motion styles rather than Caruso. This is with a 6’2 95 ball handle 91 speed with ball and 87 speed.

Had terrible latency in the 2k logo gautlet but it’s just excuses I guess. Got cooked cause my shot was not the same. Why not have an even server for logo gauntlets rather than having someone host at their court giving them the upper hand.

The missing wide open lays floaters jump hooks and dunks unreal animations that real nba players dont even do or the slow down animations when u get your shot blocked or poked loose like i get the ball poked loose y the whole opposition is faster to the ball then my team
