    All great tips! I have not seen a video from anyone explaining 30 degree verses 45 degree so that is very helpful, I can't wait to try both methods :-) Love the finished pieces!

    The lighting looks better than most out here in TH-cam land. The color seems to be a little chalky but that may be my device. The sound is great. Depending on what you are going for in the lighting effect you might want to run a search on Rembrandt lighting. In studio portrait photography the main light ratio to the fill light is a maximum of 3 to 1. In video lighting you may want more of a 2 to 1 ratio. The lighting ratio can give you some light shadows on the face so it's a much more normal or life like appearance and not come out flat. Sometime raising the main light slightly above the head will give the look of a more natural (sun like) lighting as well.
    But I got to say what you have in this video is far better than so many video makers out here.

    FINALLY!
    I saw this video last year and meant to save it, but somehow lost it. I just spent the better part of a week hunting it down.
    Excellent instructions!
    Hoping you use your techniques and build a headboard for my son. Thinking about putting a 1/2" spacer between mountains and background and hiding a LED strip.
    Thanks for the video.

    Happy new year. The soft box lighting on you is a nice even light you might just need to move them around so your face isn't in the shadow on one side. As far as a resolution mine is to be more creative. 2018 was a move and set up year and not as much time in the shop. Goal for 2019 is to get back to making things got some fun projects for the house and a few bigger customer items to start the year. Drew

    • @InspireWoodcraft
      @InspireWoodcraft  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the watch and comment Drew! Yeah I might add a little fill light on the left side. I’m shooting a video right now experimenting with lighting and camera transitions, as I really want to learn and nail that stuff this year. At least you have a good start to the year off! Happy New Year man!

    Thanks for sharing as I have been thinking about do some of these mountainscapes myself. I was just going to do the 45 degree method but after seeing this will definitely do the 30 degree. I never though about the lighting so I went back to one of your old videos to compare and I have to say the new lighting is better.

    • @InspireWoodcraft
      @InspireWoodcraft  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks! I LOVE the 30 degree method myself as well. A little easier and different than a lot of others. Almost a little more modern too. I’m really liking the new lighting at least for talking-head stuff. Thanks for the feedback!

    Excellent video! I can see that even I could do it! Trust me, that is a stretch. If you saw the shelves I made on my instagram you will understand. ugh. Then again, uneven garage floor... That is my excuse and I am sticking with it. ;-)
    A thought: Have you thought of doing some targeted burns (shoo sugih ban style) to make clouds? If anyone could pull off that style it would be you!
    Keep up the good work! Happy New Year!

    Friend almost 2 years later I find your video. You do amazing work!! The pics are incredibly beautiful to put it lightly!! I hope you are still making videos on YT. Please let me know that you are and I will subscribe. I have already liked. Thanks for sharing!!.. :))……..

    • @jaydwy8069
      @jaydwy8069 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or you could just check his videos and when the newest one was uploaded. Why do people think youtubers with thousands of subscribers have time to answer every little question from every single person looking for attention???

    • @robjtko
      @robjtko 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jaydwy8069 friend I don’t know a lot about TH-cam. So please forgive me. Most of my comment was bragging on how beautiful his work was. Should I have left that out to? I don’t want to be your enemy just because you said something rude to me for no reason. Or because maybe you would look like “”The man,”” after putting me in my place. There was no reason to be rude or to even make that comment. Do you think people really care that much about your personal thoughts? I don’t think you got the response you were expecting. Zero likes. Not that you care because you obviously don’t but you will get more attention or likes from positive comments then you will negative. I was not trying to down you, like you were me. If you took it that way you are wrong. I’d much rather be your friend than your enemy even if just on YT. If you watch the news much, then you should know we need to stick together rather than bicker amongst ourselves. But hey, we all have freedom of speech,, or should I say did have. Best wishes to you, friend.

  • @nancycook4252
    @nancycook4252 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    happy new year.... is there a reason you choose to use straight cuts for your frame versus miter???

    • @InspireWoodcraft
      @InspireWoodcraft  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Happy New Year! YES! Such a great question. I like the look of the box frame more than a mitered frame for these because I think it helps retain the "rustic" or "handmade" vibe that these tend to put off. And honestly they're easier, so that's a bonus. I don't have to worry about miters separating that way too.

    That water base clear you use how does it come out of the can. I've gotten 2 of then and it's dosent come out nice and even it splatters just wondering if I got a bad batch or that's how that stuff is

    • @InspireWoodcraft
      @InspireWoodcraft  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So I had really good luck with Minwax and Varathane until lately. I think I got a bad batch as well. This time of year I make sure to keep it inside. That helps a lot as they seem to hate the cold. I have noticed with the water based stuff though, even if it isn’t a perfect spray, it doesn’t build and gum-up like the oil based. I used this same stuff for my computer desk and at first I thought I ruined it. Turned out just fine. Oh also make sure the nozzle isn’t clogged up. That’s happened to me too.
