OMG I SAW THIS YESTERDAY ON TWITTER UNDER A THREAD TALKING ABOUT IF SVSSS WAS IN LBH'S POV IT WOULD BE HEART BREAKING AND SAD BUT BECAUSE IT'S IN SQQ'S POV WE DON'T SEE LBH HURTING AND JUST SEE SQQ'S COMEDY
im glad my reply under that post led you here! and yes, sqq's and lbh's POVs are total opposites of each other. lbh's struggle is almost always forgotten by the novel readers and donghua watchers bc of how hilarious and confused sqq is in his POV. lbh is also often misunderstood by the readers bc of how he dealt with his problems :/ but hes a good boi and at least he got the happy ending he deserved 🥺

People can hate his character but really the novel makes it clear...Binghe was a white lotus, meaning that he had a character that if given love, would have treasured that love infinitely and it was because he got nothing, not from parents, caretakers, friends or whatnot that would stay consistent or would not end in tragedy, that he blackened originally. It just speaks so much that even with the crazy headtrip of an experience of love that his shizun was, that binghe did end up persistently longing for that love even until practically the point of self destruction.
No matter how his character is scorned for it, what his character is about is that desire to find one reason to be good enough and accepted for who he is, and it's because he didn't really get that in the original (at least we are to infer so, I think, from the novel), we see an extremely tyrannical version of him.
This is not to excuse him at all but...look, not even having parents or caretakers love him at all plus crazy power...how many people you think would go through that and not be incredibly vindictive? I think that's even the point...binghe's original story was to dramatize what even the purest person could blacken into. So I always feel a soft spot even though he's one crazy character.
HOLY SHIT Notice how SQQ is always patting LBH's shoulder/arm? AND in the last scene LBH reached for SQQ's arm only to be pushed😢😭😭
Love this! Making it focus on LBH was a great idea, bingqiu is definitely more one sided at this point in the donghua... Also loved the effects on "I'd die" where he's falling in the dream! And the timing of the buzzer at the end hit the perfect timing with the song... I can tell you had a lot of fun experimenting with this!

(i read it again and again btw) thank you!! also i was hoping no one used this song for them but at the same time im wondering why it hasnt been used yet. its the perfect song especially for lbh, since yes - its one sided - and since his relationship with sqq was rough at the start. i actually wanted to wait for s2 because lbh would be in conflict with his feelings for sqq there too, but i just couldnt wait anymore 😔
